- Here is a full flight from Grand Junction to Aspen, Colorado. We had the first snow of the season, and quite early too. The arrival was absolutely beautiful. On landing, we nearly took out some birds!

Enjoyed this one Sean! Headed to Aspen this weekend. This was a nice refresher!
Thank you! I hope you get more time out there than I did.
I think it’s so cool seeing all you guys interact on here.
P1Driver........Good to see you
Love your flights
@@CorporatePilotLife, @Premier1Driver, wow, my two favorite pilot you tubers! (and the only two i follow)
Magnificent approach! The most beautiful ever.
Way to go Sawn , with your career. 5 Stars baby!!!
Always love flying into Grand Junction, the FBO guys are great.
Thanks for the ride Captain. Stay safe.
just absolutely stunning!
I love the 70's FM disc jockey voices pilots use.
Awesome flight! I used to love flying into KASE when I was doing the 135 thing in a CJ3. Land 15, then take off 33 with a tail wind. Snowmass village is where we would stay, awesome during the summer with outdoor concerts going on. Still remember diverting to Rifle a few years ago when that Challenger crew balled it up there in Aspen trying to get in.
Excellent Video. I'm a long time resident of Michigan but I did live in Lakewood Colorado many years ago. I never did ski but that didn't keep me away from visiting some of the gorgeous resorts. I miss Colorado!
Awesome job Landing Shaun. Amazing how Aspen has changed since the 1970’s. We used to go there every summer and traveled all different ways back in the 70’s from NJ. Camped just outside of town for weeks on end. But always made it back to town for a few cold Coors at the Roma and Sheridan. If I recall the airport could only take small single engines. One day I hope to get back out there. Perhaps with Alerion. :) thanks for the trip and some great memories.
Very scenic, thanks!
Great flight.
Wow, awesome approach. Thanks for the video Shaun.
Beautiful flight. Thank you.
Thanks so much. We’re the Aspens in full fall colors. With snow as background had to be awesome
Fun, thanks for sharing.
Butter landing well done. And the scenery...wow.
I flew into Aspen as a pax on a King Air 200, what a great experience that was. Used to work for the FBO, pre Altantic, that was there.
Awesome Shaun!!! It really is a beautiful approach into Aspen. This one I really enjoyed!! Thanks
A great ride!...a testament for freedom!
Beautiful views 🫡🫡
Beautiful flight.
When I first became a 121 aircraft dispatcher, my first job was at a regional a long time ago and I did a ride in one of our BAe146s into ASE. The CA was one of our DEN check airmen and he was pointing out all of the landmarks as we flew our overhead break maneuver. I felt like I was looking up at people schlussing down the slopes as we were on our midfield break - the WX was like the day you filmed, calm, high thin overcast with a layer of SN on the ground. My favorite domestic Jumpseat...
...WOW... grand tour of those mountains! Good drop and stop!
Thank you!
Thanks Sean
Since I don't fly to Aspen anymore this was a great trip down memory lane. Thanks Sean!
Great flight Sean. I always enjoy flying with you.
That aspen sure looks pretty. Thanks for bringing us along for the ride Shaun. That landing looked picture perfect
Always a pleasure to be a fly on the wall . THANKS for all the trouble to do it . 😎
I love that view
Wow Shaun this might have been your most stunning video yet! The jealousy of your career is so real! Thanks for taking us along once again to another amazing destination!
Great approach Sean !!!
I’m a CFI in Utah. Love flying XCs to grand junction because the FBO there is phenomenal. Hope you had a good time
Welcome back!! You're an inspiration, just so you know.
Thank you!
Your posts are like fine wine, measured yet satisfying.👍
Cool video, I’ve only been to Colorado once , went to HDN , SBS and APA in a PC12. Fun flying out there.
Great Res!
The guy in the right seat looks like that dude that played the character "sunshine" in the movie Remember The Titans. That quarterback with the long hair.
You gentlemen work exceptionally well together. Nice to see the professionalism, keep up the great work !!!
That was one long winding dangerous looking approach. Nice job. Ramp guy....full parka and shorts..lol. Looked cold. Thanks Shaun.
Wow! After Okey Dokey at 6:50 I don't think I've ever heard your cockpit so quiet! Really miss your videos but really love the Tech Tuesdays!!!! Hope your all doing well!!!
Hello from grand junction!!
"We'll be visual, keep it off the cumulo-granite" lmao
I grew up in Grand Jct and learned to fly all of those mountains. Got my ppl in ‘87 and learned how to circumnavigate the “mountain wave”. That’s when you really learn about wind currents. Aspen is one of the most beautiful locations in western Colorado. Love that place.
I only flew into Aspen one time. I flew a Cessna 421B carrying 4 pax to go sling for a week. It was April, 1975. Snow banks both sides of the runway and the roads, but the runway was clear. It was so beautiful flying around the mountains and making my mostly straight in approach. The mountain that was on my left when attempting to make my final approach seemed awfully close to the aircraft, although it looked extremely close, in actuality it really wasn’t. My passengers were a little nervous, because they had never gone into Aspen in a medium sized twin.
It is one of the most beautiful places I had ever flow into. I wouldn’t mind doing it a lot more.
Very nice!
Good views. Good videos. Thank you.
The guy at the end parking your plane is dressed for September in Aspen, winter coat and shorts.
Nice flight. Professional careful pilots.
What recreational activity does a pilot never want to do in Aspen?
Jet skiing
BAHAHAHA!!! That one made my day!! I may have to borrow that...
🤣🤣🤣
LOL
good one! lol
Great video btw! Aspen is beautiful this time of year
Cool skies and scenery! (and I hate snow! LOL)
Great video
Remarked on you EGE missed apch. Enjoyed watching your last 3 videos, flying over my old stomping grounds as an FAA Navaid tech.
a truly organized captain....
‘Cumulo -Granite’....love it!
I believe the correct meteorological expression is Cumulo Granitus... Military aviators tend to recognize three types of visible weather phenomena: LWPC, BWPC, BUPF. Flying in LWPC is usually fun, flying in BWPC can be exciting, but you should avoid flying in BUPF... - waw -
LWPC: Little White Puffy Clouds
BWPC: Big White Puffy Clouds
BUPF: Big Ugly Puffy F**kers
You are a pro Sean and absolutely gorgeous approach
Thank you!
Cool bring home moment. From south Florida and now fly out in KDEN. Nice work Sean and if you ever need a guy to righ seat lmk.
I operated in shortly after you that morning (SKW5487). First snowstorm of the season is always memorable. We had been delayed overnight!
Nice! Same for us...
It must not be as cold as it looks. That marshaller directing you in was wearing shorts! Other pilot needs a bonus ... gift card for Super Cuts LOL.
Taxi out of West Star Aviation....nice
I flew here once as a teenager to visit an older sibling who was working at Snowmass. I have no memory of the landing or view. Now I have it back. I was living in NY at the time and the culture shock was enormous. To give you an idea of how long ago it was, we were driving to the slope and stopped at a red light. Henry Fonda was in the cross walk.
Awesome video my
Man
Thank you!
Shaun,
I saw that Jet skiing joke:)
What a beautiful site but SNOW!!!!!!
Too early .
Cheers,
Rik Spector
Right!?! Way too early!!
@@CorporatePilotLife LOL or Brrrrrr:)
Superb video, Shaun! It must be difficult keeping your eyes on the route because the surrounding area is just so spectacular!
BTW...the goatee is looking badass!
HAHA! Thank you!
We miss the Gulfstream! Hawkers are cool too😅
Also would like to see you flying some of the other aircraft in the fleet.
Haha definitely miss the gulfstream
Was that a Gulf 680 in the background behind Shaun? If so we got to see that.
Elvis misses Jon.... Vaminos! Wahhhhhhhhh!
I was just there this morning 😂
Thank you. Its been a very long time since i did Aspen. Those mountains are Gods country. I miss living in them. Soon though.....I hope to make one final move. Move back to the mountains and out of the desert.
Gear was down for like 10 minutes, flaps full for 5 minutes, and all I can see are mountains! I’m thinking, where the hell are they going to land? This was awesome!
Taxi fast yehawww
"Keep it off the cumulogranite" LMAO Love it! Another great video, thanks for sharing!
There used to be a cartoon called "The Far Side". One of them featured two pilots in an airliner cockpit with one remarking to the other: "Imagine that! A mountain goat way up here in the clouds." - waw -
I have been into Liberal city...I mean Aspen many times...mostly with a visual, but when you are approaching from the North and dealing with real IMC...your zero will pucker and you better have all your marbles stacked up vertically. If not then you are going to be a greasy spot on one of those hills. Aspen is beautiful, but one couldnt pay me enough to live there. What you should do sometime if you have time, is rent a motorcycle or a car and head out Aspen going South to Independence Pass. Once on top, go down the other side to Twin Lakes, then turn around and come back. Dont forget your camera. You get a good view from the plane, but nothing like being down there in the mountains. Fly safe.
Great scenic flight -- must feel good not flying a desk for a bit, eh? Always enjoyable -- that landing looked pretty greased!
Thank you! It is great to get out of the office from time to time...
Hi Shaun it would have been good to see the accommodation you stayed at and a bit of Downtown having never been there and from NZ
I flew into here on my 1st flight flying right seat in a Challenger and naturally it was snowing lol
I saw one bird!
Love that 1st Officer! I bet every performance review it's "Awesome job, Great piloting....... now about the hair.....".
I think we might have to talk to him about the whole Fabio thing...
Love your comment Mac Delaney. You made my day :)
I noticed the long hair and looks cool. I thought it was not allowed.
Covid hairdo. [edit] Also, the FO reminds me a bit of Chris Griffin.
His wife must be shaking her head...
Looks like the pilot stuff one signs up for on career day. 😂
Neat flight Sean. I see even Premier 1 Driver even watches your channel. I wonder if Citation Max does as well.
That area reminds me so much of Las Vegas...but totally different.
Man your videos are still some of the best aviation videos on You Tube, but I miss the camaraderie between you and Mike. Keep up the great work and fly safe.
Thank you!
Yep 👍
16:00 maybe you need to update the avionics tables/ plates etc that's dangerous if they are conflicting. good call to do the localizer
butter landing. perfect.
Cumulo-granite? Funny! Beautiful vistas on this one. Thanks for sharing.
Great term, cumulogranite. I enjoy skiing above it, but I don't want to be anywhere near it on an aircraft.
CPL and Aspen? Immediately stopped what I was doing to watch!
Registration N569HA
Absolutely stunning views! Great landing! Always enjoy your videos. Interesting, insightful and entertaining. Thank you for sharing.
I’m looking at purchasing a G280. Have you ever flown one of those? Your thoughts?
We might as well hear and see the N registration as they all show on the company website
A flatlander flying in the mountains. 👍
Scary...I know
@@CorporatePilotLife especially near the cumulogranite - love that term...
Great Video! What's Up With the SIC's Hair? LOL!
Very 1980's hair style by the 1st Officer. He'll be disco dancing after some time on the slopes. Aspen not as busy/large as I thought it would be.
Hey Shaun, just curious could u do a video of the inside of the hawker that u always fly and an outside tour of it?! And when do u plan on flying the gulfstream again?! But an absolutely beautiful approach and awesome video as usual big man!!! Keep up the amazing work!!!! Also the two little squares that u have blurred out is that the tail number for the plane?!
Shared a chair lift ride at Aspen with pilots from Coca-Cola a few winters ago. Corporate executives were there for a meeting. They told me they always carry their golf clubs and skis because they don't always know where they might be headed.
When flying into Aspen the ground is not just below you... It surrounds you... - waw -
Up next: Corporate Pilot Life departs Aspen in a blizzard! (Ski attachment method in separate video).
That approach is a lot different than Charlottetown, eh?
You put the gear down early just in case you had to skip offa chunk of cumliogranite? Great video as always Shaun!
Bryan from Vancouver
at 1 time they had a microwave apch in there rocky mountain airways and there dash 7s did this type of apch
Terrain, Terrain! Whoop-whoop, Pull Up! Whoop-whoop, Pull Up! Ramp guy has shorts on? What?!
I said the same thing!! I'm out there in a snow jacket...LOL
In CO it is shorts weather to about 10 degrees F When I lived in Devner I would report to my overnight shift at FedEx in T shirt and Shorts while it was snowing. We worked so hard that we would break a sweat there.
Damn. Aspen airport is always a tricky approach (and climb out too?), so I've heard, due to the close by, high terrain. Steeper than average descent rates and specific step down procedures required?
How dare birds get in your way... you got things to-do and videos to make!
Exactly!! LOL
Hey Shaun, I know it would be more labor intensive on your part but would you consider putting the departure, route, arrival and approach into the description on your videos so we (nerds) can follow the flight in "real time" as the videos progress? Thank you!
