Greetings from CT! Literally just did this...2011 X5 Started squeaking a few days ago BAD...very loud. Followed this video put a little oil on the pin put it all back together and it’s like new! Very easy... Years ago I had to replace the blower motor on my 2001 740i TWICE and what a project that was....had to remove the entire top of the dash and lower dash, took 2 days. This one was very easy. Hope this helps some other bmw owners
I find it happens with my fan at the start of the winter when the temperature drops below about 5C. slap some grease on and that usually works until the next year. The first time I heard it I thought it was a dry leaf or something else trapped in the fan, very annoying though, at that time I couldn't find any videos so it took a bit getting out and refitting.
Thank you this was really helpfull - on my X5 2010 at 212000 km started to noise - I have used PTFE spray due In Finland there can be easly -20 C during winter. Normal W30 oil may be too stiff.
Mine did this for 6 months...then sorta went away....then I hit a big bump...now there's a crazy loud chirping noise coming from deep in the dash...literally sounds like a bird is stuck in there...I hear the fan and the noise is independent of that...anyone experience that? it's driving me insane! Only chirps when moving/driving... ps: the blower motor fix above doesn't last...you literally have to repack those bearings with high temp grease or use spray Whit Lithium.
I try not to waste your time since there are MANY detailed videos out there showing how to remove this. It takes a lot of twisting and turning but it will come out!

I eventually had to completely replace the motor.
Did you ever fix the noise mine is doing it now after hitting bump also exactly same
I've got the exact same noise! Definitely not related to the blower either.
Did you find out what was causing yours?
you could of explained process to get to the blower a little better if honest. Still unaware how to get to it

I could have watched a cat video and learned just as much on how to actually perform this job 🤷🏻♂️.
Lol. I feel the same way hahaha
You have nothing g but heater blower issues with your x5. Every video is about your blower. Get a new blower motor.
