The first caller literally described my EXACT situation. I'm trying so hard to apply to these graphic design/graphic design adjacent jobs, but I fear that since my resume is full of irrelevant shit due to me taking whatever shitty job in order too pay the bills, that I'm getting looked over in the application process 😭
elliot’s orb video has helped me at some point, I try to watch simple tutorials/courses to refresh my knowledge even though I am a web dev / interior designer
loving the pod!! I would love if u guys could integrate the design topics earlier on in the conversation. Hope this doesnt come off as offensive lol, I just love when u guys really go all in talking about GD so I would really like more of it!
I also graduated in 2020 and it really sucks, even now I feel like I'm stuck in entry level position after position. It seems like the only option is to become so incredible that you can start your own business, but then you have to figure out how to market and sell yourself.
i dont know if kelliot has touched on branding yourself as a graphic designer but Id love to hear your thoughts. you both seem to use your names and without referencing design in your social media handles. do you think as someone who is trying to start content creating, we should use a seperate social media page for your design work, or just create under your personal page?
to quickly answer this... personally don't think it makes too much of a difference! most important thing when starting to post is to "tell" instagram you're posting design content one way or another... either by using keywords or hashtags in your captions... i feel like i need to talk out my thoughts on this on the pod lmao i thought this would be a succinct answer I WILL COVER THIS NEXT EP - elliot xx

that’s my biggest hurdle too. design skills? pretty confident. marketing myself? a disaster lol
