A VERY excellent VIDEO! Don't we all wish we could turn back the clock and to have been on that NRHS excursion! That FREIGHT other looks like it was built from a box car!
Great footage. It sounds as though the audio was recorded at the same time? If so that is even more rare than the footage! I believe some clips of this reel are found (without audio) on the Traction Action DVD by Railroad Video Productions, along with some other H&F footage. For anyone wanting more information about the line; some history, photographs of surviving locations and an interactive system map can be found at hfrhs.org/
#150 is in the new Myersville public library (opening this summer), #5 on display in Thurmont, #168 at the Hagerstown Roundhouse Museum, #171 is on private property
Good old Hagerstown. Haven't been back in years.Great town.
This line passed by what's now my home. I've been obsessed with the rise and fall of it since I was a little kid.

Awesome old film. Mr. B.
Great stuff. Thanks.
Thanks for sharing!
What happened to the Hershey Segment of this video? I remember there being one!
You must be thinking of a different video, this one is all about the H&F which never went anywhere near Hershey.
@@fmnut what happened to that video because it was that one then another of the interurban lines.
@@mattsmocs3281 I did a video on Pennsylvania traction, but it never had Hershey on it. You must be thinking of someone else's video.
@@fmnut sorry for the mistake. It turns out it was deleted awhile back. It is unfortunate as there is some rare early operations film of the H&F too

Yes, Railroad Video is the source of the film. I added the audio track. It's a compliment that you thought it was original sound.
@@fmnut There were a few spots I wondered but it was very well synced.
Are the Thurmont color still-shots at the end of the video from the same NRHS fantrip? Any idea who the photographer is/was?
Not from the same trip. The weather in the film was cloudy. The sun is out on the stills. The photographer was Charles Hauser of Allentown, PA.
Were any of the cars or engines preserved and still in existence or on display anywhere?
See the Wikipedia article on the H&F look under the topic "Surviving Trolleys".
