      @@matthewlyons_ Hey Matthew, I'm from the US but I've been learning French for 5 years now. Point de Service is an online chat on the McGill Website where you can ask McGill representatives anything, but they have certain hours when representatives are available to talk. And if you take Advanced Placement (AP) or International Baccalaureate (IB) courses and exams and get credit, those scores can help you qualify for Advanced Standing, and you can skip preliminary courses that most underclassmen have to take. Hope this helps! I've been reading up on McGill a lot :)

    I planned to make the most out of my last year, unfortunately the pandemic took over and I've been stuck taking online classes. My finals are coming up in a few days and I'm already regretting how I didn't really enjoy uni(didn't workout, date have fun) . And I'm scared I'll regret this for the rest of my life. 💔

    I love your videos!!! I genuinely wanted to go to UBC but due to financial circumstances, I won't be able to attend UBC for my undergrad :( .. instead I plan to go to McGill! I am excited.. I know it will be challenging in terms of academics but I'm currently doing IB so I'm not extremely worried in terms of that aspect. I do want to know more about the campus and the extra curriculum they provide? As well as how residence works? And how the community is! Are people accepting to international students? Are people good looking etc. hahahha any information about the social life (so I know what I'm getting myself into).

      Hello, Like everywhere else, there are good looking people so you will be pleased haha. In terms of extra curricular, there are clubs for practically everything (people interested in board games, every sports, volunteering, rocks ...). You can attend Activity Night at the beginning of each semester where ALL the clubs gather in one building to try to recruit freshmen (it basically fill en entire 4 story building). Living in Residence is super fun but as I mentioned, it has its ups and downs, you just need to be prepared. McGill is such an international university, everyone is opened to international students (there are clubs for almost every countries) and people are so accepting of one another ... it is something I really admired about my university experience. I met the BEST people ever and am proud to say that I have friends around the world now that we all graduated ans dispersed. I truly recommend McGill !!!!!

      @@leslyyao7888 OMG thank you so much for your reply!! I genuinely appreciate every word. Because it's so easy to google things and get the answers but from someone who's experienced.. I truly appreciate it! And another few questions. It's okay to enter university without knowing what to major you want to take right? Because I don't have a clear vision of the path I will take in my future careers.. a part of me enjoys computer science, and another enjoys geo but i also love learning the french language. So I'm worried if I will fall behind if I don't know what I want to do.

      @@firzanasadik3945 Hello, You absolutely do not need to know what you want to major in... I did not know at ALL when I started, then I switched Major after my 2nd year. During your first you will mostly be taking Intro classes, you will have the opportunity to try a bit of everything. If you have interests in other faculty also, just take them as elective to see if it could interest you... you could do a double major or a minor in something else. Just take the opportunity to try and discover what you want to do :)

    • @leslyyao7888
      @leslyyao7888  5 років тому +11

      Hello, I did a Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in Marketing. McGill have many tools and services to prepare your for jobs (career fair, networking events, conferences, Career services, CV review, & much more). I did not have any difficulties finding a job after graduation & even while I was still a student. McGill does have a alumni network that can help you if you go see a career advisor, but even on you own, if you have good grades and work experience, you will be fine :)
      Let me know if you have any other questions !

      HEY CONGRATS ! Did you do the process I explained in the videos ? What are you gonna study, in which faculties? With a French Baccalauréat, you should be able to finish in 3 years if you take 5 courses per semester and maybe summer classes ... really depends. You need to find the faculty credit requirements :)

    McGill is the hardest university in Canada. Turns top students to mush. Not a fan of this philosophy. It destroys students’ aspirations. Foster a student’s abilities rather than destroy them.

    • @alvindurochermtl

      Let's be honest. I know so many international school kids who have let themselves loose after getting into McGill thinking they have "made it" and life in university should be easy. This ain't the school's fault. You can't possibly read and do everything it's perfectly within your judgment to pick and choose what matters and guess what, that's how it works in the professional world too. And if you want an easy school, go to the UofT.

    Hey I’m a bit confused. I applied in McGill back in November and I got “further review required” in January. In my checklist they wanted me to send my second trimestre bulletin and so I did in March (as soon as I got the bulletin) now it’s the 15th of April so one month after and still no answer. The problem is I have a deadline to answer to the other universities (1st of May) and I can’t decline if it’s not 100% that McGill accepts me... let me know what you think. Great video by the way!

      Hello,
      the cost of a semester will depend on your status (Canadian, French, quebecois or international student), the number of classes you attend to take during each semester and other factors.
      Maybe you can contact the admission office or service point to have a more specific amount.
      GOOD LUCK !
