It has always touched me how Shmuel was willing/able to forgive Bruno for not defending him when Shmuel was working in his home. Most adults would never forgive that betrayal (especially since Shmuel took a beating for it). It's like as a fellow child, Shmuel understood how terrified Bruno was and that he acted out of fear, not malice.
It's not sarcasm since acting is the ability to play a role. It was a low brow attempt at populist humour and it succeeded in finding 145 equally stupid likes.
When Shmuel said he’s a Jew, Bruno did not know whether to believe the hate he has been told or believe that what he has been told was wrong. That breaks my heart.
Reshme I was thinking the same thing. Bruno is very naive and innocent; he doesn't know what's going on, and due to both of the boys' age/maturity they probably wouldn't know how to lie in a way where they would get away with it, and Bruno probably wouldn't know how to hide/smuggle Shmuel out. It's unfortunate, because if they were both a little older and were aware of the situation, they would probably be able to get Shmuel out and hide him somewhere.
I've seen so many heart-wrenching movies growing up, but this was probably one of the most impactful. When I was younger, I never understood the Holocaust, or about the smoke in the air, or the fact that "Out-With" was actually Auschwitz. But when I re-watched the movie recently, I cried at this scene, as well as the ending. Even though I already read the book, and new what was happening, I cried. This movie/book... it's so subtle, but it's so hard to watch and read without being haunted. Because this isn't fiction. This particular storyline might be, but this... kids were locked away and people had so much prejudice against them. Because of their belief! It's so sad, but this movie is incredible.
Yuri Katsuki "Belief" wasn't what the Nazis were after, it was ethnicity. A rabbi was just as hunted as an atheist, if both were ethnically jewish. "Belief" was only relevant while investigating Mischlinge cases, to see if someone was culturally Aryan enough to be spared. (As long as they looked the part, of course.) The only people who were in camps for their opinions were political prisoners. Just sharing.

It’s so sad, because Bruno only realised how bad the camp actually was when he had the idea he was going to die in the gas chamber. When they move further into the camp, you can hear Bruno say to shmuel, “why don’t we just go to the cafe?” And shmuel says “cafe?” As if it is the most ludicrous thing anyone could say. Bruno saw the propaganda video his dad and the nazis were watching which promoted the camp in the form of a holiday. That’s why Bruno thought he would be safe in the camp from the way the video portrayed it. Makes me sick
When Bruno asks about the chimneys and how it smells when there is smoke. I choked up. When you understand why it's really sad. Cant believe that ever happened to people. Heartbreaking. 💔💔💔

So my psychology teacher showed our class this movie and it broke me, I literally were the only one in tears when the ending happened. It made me felt empty for over 3 hours. Just seeing that scene...was too much.
Tension maybe? Whenever I watch really sad movies, something in my brain just can't handle it and I want to laugh. I don't think it's funny, it's just that it's so sad that I can't handle it.
I guess it just shows that everyone in class was a asshole. I don’t know how any bit of this would be funny. Clearly they’re all psychopaths.... that’s the only clear explanation I can come up with because not one bit of this was funny.
Because children/teenagers don't want to show sad emotion in front of others. They didn't really think it was funny. That was just the only way most know how to handle the awkward situations. Hell, even most adults do it at times.
I watched this movie when I was like 11 or so, we had watched a lot of movies about this topic or in genereal the second worldwar before, but this one broke me, it literally haunted me in my sleep. Just to imagine that this was reality and not just fiction...absolutely horrifying.
and just think of him looking at the body's and finds Bruno's GONE and his own father why he did dig underground into the camp and ends up making his wife leaving him and just think HE did not call off the gas chamber or anything to find his son Just think he promotion and controls the problems that ends up taking his son life because He taken him away from Friends He Lock him inside the zone No more friends
What's even more sad is that the director of the movie said that people felt more bad about bruno dying than shmuel while they both were just innocent kids.
people are people.no matter who u are or what u are u will still be loved and still be a great person on the inside and outside.Just remember that if u have a problem wit that tell someone immediately.Because ur a 🌟💎👑

"What sort, then?"
"The sort that owns the camp you're enslaved in. Anyway, here's some food!"
This is heartbreaking 😢 poor Bruno, prevented from finding the truth. Pure soul 😔
we watched this at my school. and i literally cry asf. till i go home im crying. this one is legit i swear
SOOO INNOCENT OMGG I remembered this scene for some reason and searched for it just to break my own heart all over again😭😭😭😭😭
I watched this once and I can’t watch it again, ever
I had to watch and read this for school and it is so sad I almost couldn't sleep😲😭😭😭😭😭😭
They shouldn't make children watch/read disturbing things like this for school, shame on them >:(
Mesmer ASMR well it depends on his age, if he's like 15 then its appropriate for him to watch, but making an 8 year old watch it is kinda fucked up.
@@mesmer3780 true it's inappropriate
@@w.a.6618 watch your language but I agree with you
@@giuseppinalombardo3600 Nope
this is the most emotional and saddest movie I have ever seen...
So my psychology teacher showed our class this movie and it broke me, I literally were the only one in tears when the ending happened. It made me felt empty for over 3 hours. Just seeing that scene...was too much.
The saddest moment was honestly when they both die, and Bruno’s parents are depressed losing him.
You shouldn't feel bad for Bruno's parents, especially his father. It's their fault..
@@Dartchy the mother was kind to them
we watched this movie in class and everyone was laughing at their faces??? Idk what's funny about a sad movie?
Tension maybe? Whenever I watch really sad movies, something in my brain just can't handle it and I want to laugh. I don't think it's funny, it's just that it's so sad that I can't handle it.
The other part of my year group watched a film today but I was doing PE so I didn't watch it
I guess it just shows that everyone in class was a asshole. I don’t know how any bit of this would be funny. Clearly they’re all psychopaths.... that’s the only clear explanation I can come up with because not one bit of this was funny.
Richard Biggus stfu nazi
Because children/teenagers don't want to show sad emotion in front of others. They didn't really think it was funny. That was just the only way most know how to handle the awkward situations. Hell, even most adults do it at times.
I watched this movie when I was like 11 or so, we had watched a lot of movies about this topic or in genereal the second worldwar before, but this one broke me, it literally haunted me in my sleep. Just to imagine that this was reality and not just fiction...absolutely horrifying.
The ending was so brutally heartbreaking that it took me hours to recover 😢😢😢
and just think of him looking at the body's and finds Bruno's GONE and his own father why he did dig underground into the camp and ends up making his wife leaving him
and just think HE did not call off the gas chamber or anything to find his son
Just think he promotion and controls the problems that ends up taking his son life because
He taken him away from Friends
He Lock him inside the zone
No more friends
What's even more sad is that the director of the movie said that people felt more bad about bruno dying than shmuel while they both were just innocent kids.
Well yeah. Bruno was the protagonist. The way movies work you see the plot from their perspective and feel the most empathy toward them.
and in time, even with memories like this.
they will forget and history will repeat itself.
how sad is our existence? that THIS is our final frontier?
Poor bruno he doesnt understand that they didnt have a choice...
people are people.no matter who u are or what u are u will still be loved and still be a great person on the inside and outside.Just remember that if u have a problem wit that tell someone immediately.Because ur a 🌟💎👑
A lot of people suck ass
This movie was really really sad😔
i can barely even watch this movie. it is so, so sad. it's even worse because this actually happened, maybe not this specific situation, but there were children in the camps, innocent babies.. children just like the boy in the striped clothing. god.
You can tell they filmed this scene with the boys never even meeting each other.
huh???
