Spitter or no spitter, GP was a great pitcher. He's a huge man (6'4") and had a great fastball and curve. Most of the talk about throwing the spitball was overblown. He really loved messing with people's minds, but if he had thrown the spitter as much as they say he would have been caught.
Baseball had great characters back in the day.....the Game was 100 times better in the Seventies. I guess Latenight shows were 1000% better in the 1980's than today....
Love Gaylord. BUT, how crazy is it that he blatantly CHEATED and is in the HOF. While Pete Rose gambled, and they wont let him in... just something to think about. Put Pete in!!
With that suit, hair and eyebrows, ol' Gaylord lookin' like some Mexican president of yore, back when the PRI had the political monopoly on the country.
Rick Vaughn, "What's that $#!+ on your chest?" Eddie Harris, "Crisco, Gelusil, Bardahl. Any one will add two-three more inches of drop to your curve ball."
Rest in Peace and thank you for the wonderful baseball memories.
RIP. The stuff of legends. 303 career complete games.
did he really have that many complete games
@@markwestjr711He did indeed have that many.
Sad day today. Rest in peace, Gaylord!
gaylord is one of your baseball player throwbacks, old school, and very personable. 20 game winner 5 times. he's still with us at age 80.
You jinxed him. RIP 12-1-22 at 84
A. Baseball ⚾️. Legen👍👍👍⭐️🙏😇⚾️⚾️⚾️🤠
Good ol' boy who likes to farm. He said he grew up farming running a team of mules which probably explains how he pitched over 2 decades.
RIP
Gaylord was greatness! One of my favorites to watch on the Texas Rangers.
Mariners! I was at the game when he got 300
I think I read "Me And The Spitter" at least 100 times! And taught myself how to throw it :)
RIP

That’s what Lou Piniella said. That he didn’t use it nearly as much as people thought.
He said his book "Me And The Spitter" was a great decoy too LOL

huh? Why would God want to damn a good boy like Gaylord?
Gaylord played for over 10 teams in his long Major League Career but he'll always be a San Francisco Giant.
San Francisco Padre or San Diego Giant.
@Mike Pordan I was really upset when they traded Sam McDowell but I got over it
GO Mariners! I was there for #300
GAYLORD IS MY BUDDY!!! ⚾️⚾️⚾️👍👌
HES A CHEAT AND SHOULD BE THROWN OUT OF THE HALL OF FAME
RIP
As a life long Giants fan, I loved that guy.
Very durable and smart pitcher.
The spitball was banned after the 1920 season, after the death of Ray Chapman by Carl Mays (a spitball pitcher himself).
A member of the guile hall of fame

I never realized how big gaylord is!
6'4" and a probably a few pounds over his playing weight of 205. it's that way with a lot of athletes, their physical stature is impressive in person.
he is the biggest Gaylord !
