Already making progress in this living room! Thank you for all your wonderful ideas, I do plan to use many of them and will be sharing all the details as I go!
Love the new sofa and your pick of wallpaper. While Ruggable rugs may be washable, I can't stand behind more plastics, a vintage wool rug seems more authentic and in keeping with your home's age and esthetic.
My vote is all rugs, no wallpaper. Choose a color for walls you love, add pattern in pillows, wall art, etc! I'm laughing to myself, I should not give decor advice to a professional, but you did ask our opinion!
My vote is C. The green sofa is simply delicious! You mentioned you want to paint your kitchen cabinets. Consider Mineral Fusion paint. It is a wonderful product. It is self leveling and a built in sealer. A finishing wax is not necessary, but can be done. I painted my kitchen cupboards (green BTW) one year ago and they have worn beautifully. Thanks for sharing your project … such fun 😊
I would love to paint my cabinets green! Can you tell me the color name please?
@@tamib64 the paint is Fusion Mineral paint. The color I chose was lichen, however, they have many shades of green. All of the colors are earth tone based; very nice. Check out their web page, it is a great product. 😊
What color are your kitchen walls and cabinet hardware? I love that Lichen shade! Been looking at green shades for months.
@@karena2090 my lower cabinets are painted with lichen, the upper cabinets are limestone (same paint company). The metal is all copper; old copper pots, copper pulls on the cabinets, copper pendant lights. The walls are painted a very soft tan which I may change; not sure. Initially I thought there were too many colors but they’re all very warm and I truly love the combination. Good luck with your project…would love to know how it turns out. 😊
Your new green couch is beautiful! And I'm with you - no dog. I am not opposed to dogs on furniture (with a blanket to protect the fabric), but I think it's ok to have places they are not allowed, and a velvet couch is one of those places. Another reader suggested a faux fur for the dog bed, which seems like a good option. Another would be a small shearling rug. That seems really cozy. I like the rug you already have, and I think the wallpaper you chose will be beautiful with it! Thanks for taking us along on your journey.
❤️ the couch with the Ruggable rug on its own, not layered, with the wall paper you chose and how it will tie in with your future kitchen and door. Love your channel with its elegant, simplistic, informative approach. Thank You!
Love the William Morris with the big flower and the squirrel. Your couch is a solid.
The lounge is gorgeous - that mossy green is my favourite colour.
Wallpaper the dog AND the piano. Problems solved. 😉 You are very good at what you do, Sarah. Whatever makes your heart happy will help make your home feel happy. And if your taste changes and grows in a different direction in a few years (and it will), then have a blast planning, choosing and changing it all again. That’s what we do. Enjoy the projects and the journey. Thanks for sharing and be blessed in this new year.
Wow. Love the new sofa and would keep the darling pup off of it. There must be a way of warming the window seat - perhaps warming the wood seat itself (like floor heating) with all wires, etc in the storage area. I still have not purchased the leather recliners but they are haunting me. I really enjoy watching your channel and creating ideas of my own, encouraged by yours. Thank you!
Perfect English cottage style sofa! What a great find at a great price!
Love the first choice of rug and wallpaper combo.
We had a window seat at our previous home. It too got chilly to sit there. We opened up the seat part and double insulated the outer walls, the bottom of the inside, the two end walls and the bottom of the seat itself (still allowing it to be put back in place). What a difference. Hope this helps you and your fur baby.
Thank you for all your sharing with us and the many hours spent to do your videos. Love you. 😊
Schumacher wall paper is incredible 🙋🏻♀️👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I think the wallpaper will look lovely. Any of the rugs will be fine. For the dog- lots of blankets…and I don’t know if this would work, but if your window seat has a hinged top, maybe a small heater can go inside and vents can be added in a decorative way to allow the heat to circulate.
I love that cabinet in the corner.
I agree with being a little worn out of toile! I LOVE chinoiserie designs. There's an Etsy shop based in China who hand makes their panels & they are SO talented!
They make non electric warming mats for pets.
For the wall paper the bold floral on the top far left,so beautiful
Search words like "Self-Warming Thermal Pet Pad" or "Self-Heated Dog Bed". They have some kind of material in them that reflects body heat back at the body that's on them. They warm up without having to be plugged in. You could lay it on top of a thicker dog bed if you need more cushion and maybe tack it on if it wants to shift. If they don't come in a color you like you could always put a blanket over them. My cats love them (one of my cats, Beetle, looks just like your cat) and I think they make them big enough for dogs (hopefully big enough for your large dog). I get mine from Amazon. The only down side is that they do make a little bit of a crinkly noise, but it's not very loud.
For me, it's option A. The textured rug you already have brings some variety to the room, I would worry that the ruggable one would be too "one note". Love your choice of wallpaper. And I have serious couch envy, that green velvet is swoon-worthy!
To keep your sweet dog off of your couch will require drawing a line the sand. No MEANS no! My best dog advice came from a video of a momma dog with her puppies. 😊 The puppies were a couple of months old, and we’re making a racquet, running around and causing chaos. Momma comes in and all 10 of them started running toward her. She was NOT in the mood! She looked like a tired Mom coming home from work. She stopped and began a low growl. One by one, they started to quietly drift away and laid down. The growl grew louder as some pups weren’t getting the hint. The last pup came up as if to suckle, and she snapped at it. It got the message and obediently laid down. 😮 Brilliant!! I tried it on my 9 yo malamute lab mix the next time she needed a reprimand. It worked! Immediately, she hung her head submissively and gave my hand a gentle lick. I was stunned, but glad that I finally figured out how to communicate in her language. I still use commands, and save the growling to express my extreme displeasure. For Kira, I would first try a couple of loud claps, and say OFF! When she obeys, praise her. She WANTS to please you. Which is why canines have been watching humans for thousands of years and modifying their behavior. Hope this helps! 😀
Insulation inside the window seat and around the gaps around the window, if any, underneath any interior window trim should help.
Maybe also an insulated fabric shade to cover enough window to keep the space warmer, but still allow your dog to see out while resting?
C, I love that ruggable rug!!! Though I wouldn't layer the rugs I don't think. Just the ruggable...
The white Boho rug will have a good home with your daughter. 😊 The pretty Ruggable works best! You could hang the wallpaper on the upper wall and the paint below to keep it less busy. Maybe one accent wall of wallpaper? I do love the new sofa! We have an 1909 Edwardian home and I have added French country elements throughout, spa blues and whites with antiques.
I have an old couch from the 1930s and that is exactly the color and fabric that I hope to reupholster it with.. gorgeous.
🔹Option C…..and do wallpaper in the kitchen or bathroom! Wallpaper is good in rooms where artwork and rugs aren’t used as much. Try some paint samples that are of a medium tone. Darker than your curtains and lighter than your green couch. Investing in one (or some) antique/vintage paintings instead of wallpaper would give you lifelong treasures that you could use your whole life. Landscapes would work nicely with your style. They transition well if you change things and look very European. Nice art work elevates a room just as nice shoes or jewelry elevates an outfit. I have found artwork everywhere from thrift stores to estate sales. Takes some patience but if you like to hunt, it is just the best feeling to snag an undervalued overlooked piece.
C. And I love the green velvet sofa.
I love your home as is. You have styled it with love for your home and your family. Your "doggie child" is part of your family, therefore I feel your choices should include how she lives also. You seem to be very compassionate about your design choices. Let your heart lead you. What you love will look beautiful and add to the charm and story of your home. Thank you for sharing your life with us!
Love, love, love your new sofa! What a great find! I also really like the wall paper. I don’t know what to say about the rugs as none of them seem to be that magical answer you always come up with. Keep looking??? I really like the idea of your inherited secretary….seems very fitting with your style. Thanks for letting us be part of your journey…..I’m having fun with this. LOL
23:50 I choose A. I love that combination so much. My second choice would be to find a vintage rug that would compliment your color choices and style. I don’t really like the Rugable Rug.
Love the green sofa, and your pick of wallpaper. Give the boho rug to your daughter! ☺️
Love the sofa and wallpaper you chose! What if you made two covers for your window seat out of flannel sheets in a lovely plaid? When one is on the other is in the wash! Thanks for including us in your process…so fun!
The wallpaper, withe the green couch and cream rug
That sofa is wonderful! I would go with painted walls (I have spent years stripping wallpaper in this old house!) and a Persian style rug. Thanks for your kind and gentle way of sifting through advice.
B!
Keep the gray tall cabinet but paint it lighter. No need to get a corner one as it works fine. The door “reads” mission and is angular which is probably why the florals aren’t appealing to you as much. He boho rug might be fine. TV will be far too high over the piano. Will it pull way down?Love your sample rug size idea! Thank you.
Sofa is beautiful. Yes to the wall paper and new rug.
That couch is gorgeous! I also love the ruggable rug best.
That animal wallpaper is adorable and you are right it is perfect for a nursery.
Victorian Dark Academia is my favorite aesthetic, but yes it can be a bit heavy and dark. I love your new couch and I LOVE the print on the ruggable rug. My preference on the walls would be a soft paint color instead, but I also love the wallpaper you decided on. 🤔
You would adore my large antique French couch in my living room. I covered it in that color. It’s stunning. It’s one that Charles Faudree used a lot! You will love the green.
I love the two sofas. Makes it cozier and makes more sense of the space😍
My vote is C. I prefer wall paper as an accent in bedrooms and accent to full on in bathrooms. The living room can have more uses and therefore busier with activity. We often forget to think about human bodies filling a space as part of decor. Keeping the backdrop(walls) calm and tranquil helps in accommodating the extra activity. I wouldn’t mind a texture wall paper that can be painted to match the walls. It would add interest in areas without being too busy. All that being said…The right answer is whatever you think. That’s the beauty of decor. It’s an individual taste. Oh there might be some guidelines, but ultimately anything goes if the people living there love it. Have fun with it!❤️
Awesome find on that green velvet couch - it's soooo pretty! It looks like it was made for that spot - score! Your ruggable option is very pretty but not as cozy and inviting as the textured cream rug - it looks lovely to sit on (for floor people) and comfy on the feet as well. I imagine the ruggable would be much more Kiera friendly though! Your wallpaper choice reminds me of a glorious historic home here that's now our city's cultural center - it's just so beautiful. I think there is a very similar paper in the lady's room.
Oh my goodness. I just love where this is headed. I must say I prefer the rugable rug over the other one!! So B or C
What a beautiful so for your found… and I will go with letter C❤
Choice B. Love the wallpaper, love the Ruggable rug. I’ve always loved blue and green together.
It has been fun to watch the evolution of your style. I am drawn to Edwardian and Arts and Crafts style, and my favorite color is green, so I am cheering you on over here.
Just for fun, Ikea currently has a duvet cover set inspired by the Arts and Crafts movement called KÄRRDUNÖRT that I thought I would try out, and I hope they get more of their similarly styled pillow covers (TUVSÄV) back in stock at some point.
I loved seeing your wallpaper samples and very much approve of your new green velvet sofa. Looking forward to seeing the finished room.
Amazon lists a self warming thermal pad for dogs. Kind of like a space blanket, which might work under a soft blanket to radiate heat.
I know it may sound silly and you may have already done it, but resealing the window may help with the cold/drafts. If possible, checking if the seat area is actually insulated will help too. It also helps with heating/cooling costs.
Oh my goodness! The green sofa is beautiful. I vote for C. The pattern on the ruggable rug has a soft movement to it. So resting on your eyes.
Love the beautiful couch and how sweet to have the window seat for your dog.
The room will be beautiful no matter which option you choose, but I would pick option C. 😃
LOVE option C. That rug is gorgeous! I tend to go with neutral walls.
The only thing to consider with the ruggable, is if your dog sheds it sticks to the bottom rug pad and the edges begin to wear very easily and curl. Especially after washing, and the minor shrinking it does. We went through multiple ruggables, and they were so awesome and replaced them but the rugs continued to do that every time. The blue rug is beautiful though!
Good morning, I really enjoyed watching you put together the living room. I am in the middle of trying to choose wallpaper. It is so hard but I like the way you did it with putting several on the wall. Thank you for sharing 🎉 I love the wallpaper you are using. I love William Morris. I love A. Good luck on your decorating journey.❤
This was a fun video to watch and be a part of the process. I love all your choices but it is your home. I am loving the color people are adding into their homes. I think it takes more skill to add color and pattern together and make it work. I would choose a rug with the colors of the furniture in it, but I don't know where the blue would be in the room. It will be lovely and you have to choose what you love.
C!!! I love the new couch and the ruggable rug!
For the dog... Can you diy something like heated floors for the seat? Something heated that he can't get at.
You are amazing, it's difficult to decide on a decor decision because all would look nice in your home. Your couch is beautiful, love the color and not a bad price. Thank you for sharing.
Love, love your sofa! Same color as mine. The wallpaper you chose is beautiful and I would stay with the cream rug. Beautiful and homey when put together.
Oh my GOODNESS!
I AM IN LOVE WITH YOUR SOFA..
in the market for one too..I assumed that you bought that new and wondered what store.
WOW ..what a GREAT FIND..AND LEGS WITH WHEELS TOO...
WHATS NOT TO LOVE!
I vote C. The wallpaper idea is lovely but would be too much with the new blue patterned rug. Paint the walls and keep the new rug atop the larger, blue-bordered one. Your green sofa is gorgeous.
I love the sofa. I just bought 15 yards of light green velvet and am reupholstering my sofa. I’m doing pinks and greens , lots of flowers and plants. It’s our little room add on used as a tv room - playroom by the grandkids. I’m going for English cottage as I have a small Tudor cottage
I love that wallpaper that you chose. It is warm and cozy without being so in your face. It layers so nicely with the curtain pattern. I do not like the ruggable rug. They do have nice ones but not loving this one. You are not going to be happy with the cream boho rug. It looks great in the room but it will get so dirty . Take your time and look for a real wool vintage rug. I have always been surprised when I sit back and wait for that just right piece. Poof...one day it appears. I love the couch and the direction you are going in. I'm personally kinda bored with all the neutral and patternless rooms. Bring on the Color!!! Thanks for sharing your process. It teaches me a lot. Looking forward to more.
Warm the window seat with a 2" twin memory foam mattress topper cut to top your cushiion shape. They tend to be warm.
I think the new rug and wallpaper will not clash. Mixing these subtle patterns will look great!
If your house was an Airbnb my family would love to stay there!!! ❤👏🏻😃
I absolutely LOVE the green wallpaper with animals! Love the idea of a hall tree. Green is my favorite color. With that said, I would choose option 2.
Beautiful sofa! I choose "C"! That ruggable rug is awesome!
Love the curtains with painted wall.
The green velvet couch is absolutely stunning. I'm so glad to hear the dog will not be allowed on the couch. I just cringe that a pet is allowed to ruin a beautiful piece of furniture. I do like your wallpaper choice and I think you should definitely go with your gut. I know you like change so it will probably always be a process of changing things up for you and your family, which is quite fun for us UA-cam viewers. Love your channel and your format. Keep up the good work.
Love that couch! My vote would be C. Thank you for always inspiring me.
OMGOSH! Love the couch! I world make a nice thick pad/ cushion for Kira from a down comforter. I've found some great ones at estate sales for $5. Washed and dried, they are as good as new!💝
Pet stores sell a cat "tent" like thing that zips and stands up like a triangle so that a cat can walk in and lay down and have something over it's head. BUT, the cool thing about it is that it is lined with a heat reflecting material that keeps it warm for the cat. I think you could use two of them, and not keep them zipped up, (let them lay flat), and place inside whatever cushion you place in the window seat. I wish I could remember the name, sorry. This heat reflecting thing is somewhat akin to those warming seats you sit on at football games, but better.
Having the couch will help you decide on wallpaper!
Love the wallpaper you chose - my favorite hands down - even has a slight Celtic vibe. I like Option A - the current rug gives the room warmth and although, yes, it would work in a Boho design, it is a Chameleon - it also has a calming effect, you are beginning to have a lot going on. I feel like you may even be drifting toward a starchy museum vibe. Regardless - I like the idea of the plaid window seat cushion because the color scheme is so supportive and 'interwoven' with each other. Not a fan of the Ruggable (I get why you want it) only because the color reads too blue and I think it would be quieter to have both the floor and the wallpaper work in perfect unison.
Love the lower middle green wallpaper behind the piano. Just beautiful
Same🤗
First, love the legs on the sofa! Second, how much wallpaper? How many walls? Top third only of whole room? Trim or molding to separate wallpaper, paint etc? That would definitely inform on rug choice. All the separate pieces are good. The big thing is how they relate to each other. Looking forward to see what you decide.
Current rug, wallpaper
A, all the way! ❤
C, C, C! lol Beautiful new couch!! 💕 I do love the wallpaper behind the piano top left. It almost looks like a white lilac flower.
ok so here's my picks. Sara. The wallpaper is the bomb because it doesn't compete or shout too loud. The rugable rug is the one-- in the right size. I like the play with the green couch and the blue rug since the tints are both muted they blend well, especially with some plants. I don't care for the stacked rugs .. The boho rug seems too geometric ? to me. Hope this is helpful as you decide.
Love this series of conversations! Thank you
Petmart etc has dog proof vinyl warming pads. It only warms where they lay and has a wire wrapped cord for several inches where it joins the pad. Put an outlet in the bench so only a few inches are exposed
I just found an antique down filled moss green velvet sofa for my home last week ! I am so in love
I had to laugh , as my favorite wallpaper and combo was 4,5,6 with the navy couch and blue paper.. the one your daughter hates! Oh well... different strokes . Definitely wallpaper, not paint. Paint is so safe. The gorgeous paper patterns. especially the William Morris is such a brave, out of the box choice. You want someone to come in and feel wowed!!!! I love the thought of a more subtle hall tree next to the door. Especially for a B&B. Somewhere for guests to hang coats or purses or scarves. Looking forward to seeing all your decisions come to fruition.
Loved the new green couch. I liked the wallpaper on the first mood board, green vine type. Whatever you do will be lovely. Blessings.
I vote for C. And that green couch is so pretty!
My fave wallpaper is over the piano, bottom row, second from left. Fun to be part of the choice!
C / go to goodwill outlet( bins) and look for a down comforter and cover the seat cushions on the dog window that will keep him warm with his own body heat
I love the wallpaper you chose! It was absolutely my favorite as you were showing us the first go round. It works so well with your window coverings. The cream rug adds so much calm to a “busy” doors everywhere kind of room (I have one of those).
I love the wall paper you settled on.
Now seeing the piano better a straight narrow frame on the the inside of the fancy one.
I LOVE the green couch and I love the Wallpaper you chose. 😍 I vote B but of course you need to do what you feel the most comfortable with, not what other people think. 😉
Use the wallpaper you chose and use or get a creamy or white rug, whichever goes with the paper.
So funny that you bought that green velvet sofa - I bought an emerald green velvet sofa a few months ago! My walls are a safe green and I get lots of compliments on them and how warm and cozy the room feels. I like the wallpaper you picked, but would only do one wall with it. I definitely like the blue ruggable. I don’t think a cream-colored rug is practical and the one you have is too modern for the wallpaper. I saw someone mention buying a down comforter for the window seat and someone else mentioned a plaid flannel sheet. You could combine the two ideas and make a plaid flannel cover for a down comforter. (On a side note, I think the pillows on the sofa and chair are too big, especially the one on the chair.) I like the idea of either the Victorian hall tree or a desk/secretary. Blessings!❤
I am not sure on the rug options but love the sofa. I have had an army greenish sofa and loveseat for over 20 yrs. When the set wore out about 3 years ago, I got green again. It is such a great neutral and I change out my living room decor each season and for different holidays and the green always works. I find it adds a pop of color to your other neutral decor. I think wallpaper would look great and add some color, pattern and dimension. You have a great design eye and will figure it all out. Yes to an antique wood secretary/hutch/hall tree by the front door.
Yes! Green is the neutral nobody seems to understand. If your room can use a green plant, why not other green?
I love the wallpaper with current creamy colored rug:) Love the new couch!
Wow!!!!!! I loveeeeeee your couch! So happy for you! Everything is beautiful. Even you☺️❤️
You are so inspiring! Thank you for all you do to help us create.
I love the new couch. I think I would just paint and keep the beautiful curtains. I would also bring in more patterns with pillows that can easily be changed out when you tire of them. I’ve had wallpaper and it was a pain to remove. I know wallpaper has changed and may be easier to remove than previously. Love your channel!
White boho rug with wallpaper😊 love the green sofa use only the green sofa, store the other
