Hi! Yes this video is from 2015 so JK was 17..!! So young🥺 Tae is Detective Conan, Suga may be a pilot and I'm not sure about RM. For better translation there are a few army sites doolset is one of them but I don't have the URL on my phone 😅 The song is about those who diss them and their music, when in fact normal ppl go to work for 8h and then enjoy free time, BTS were studying during the day and practicing at night, for years on end with only a few hours sleep and 1 off day per month. I'm glad now their, work rhythm is better balanced. I may be wrong on some details, I apologize to older ARMY... 🤗🥺 Have a great day 💜
The Korean word that is translated into "Dope" for the title of this song doesn't really mean "dope" in the way we, as English speakers, would interpret that word. It is a somewhat weak translation that loses a lot of the important double meaning of the Korean word used in my opinion. The word they actually use would be more accurately translated as "sick", a word that has more of a double meaning in English as both something that is really cool ("That's so sick, man!") and also a negative physical experience. The Korean word literally means drenched in sweat or something to that extent (mind you, I am not Korean, I got this from watching a reaction by some older Korean men), but is now used as slang by younger Koreans to mean "awesome". So they are both saying they are really awesome, but they are also saying they are working their butts off. I've noticed in a lot of commentary videos, they often pair Dope and Bapsae together as an example of songs in which they are talking about the struggles of their generation. And the fact that Dope and Bapsae are also the two songs in which they explicitly refer to the "three giving-up generation" and the "five giving-up generation" (in RM's solo) I think that this song while obviously talking about how hard they themselves have worked is also probably a commentary on how hard their generation is having to work. Based on that, I think they are intentionally reflecting various careers to give a nod to all the people who are working really, really hard in their careers while others are out partying. The "we" becomes more collective, then. "Those of us who are working our butts off while everyone else is partying ... we're awesome." So in RM's verse he says (no idea about accuracy of translation, again, not Korean, lol). "Given up on 3? Given up on 5?? I like the number 6. How about giving up on 6?" The older generations in Korea, as well as the Korean media, often refer to millennials as the generation that has given up. It started out as having given up three things, courtship, marriage, and childbirth. Then it advanced to a word that means they'd given up on five things, thereby adding employment and home ownership. Eventually it jumped to seven things when they added that they had given up on relationships and even hope. That's why RM adds in his verse that he'll stop at 6 (after making some weird word play that I don't totally understand that involves beef ...) and then says, "Can I get a little bit of hope?" Basically saying they refuse to give up on everything. Then he calls out the older generations/media for condemning them while they are working so hard and he calls out the millenials for just taking it and tells them to take their energy, they aren't alone, don't give up, take some hope, wake up and go. I've never actually watched an explanation video for Dope, so this is what I've personally pieced together based on explanations I've heard about some of the words/phrases used in the song, so somebody else may know more. But I think people tend to focus on the dancing a lot in this song and disregard the lyrics mostly because there is a lot of meaning lost in translation for this one.
Amazing explanation, thank you! Especially the generation thing is so interesting. I had no idea what he meant with "giving up at 5?" and so on. And also about the "we" being meant as a collective "we" as well, standing up for their generation so to speak. 👍🏻😊

●When RM was little, he wanted to be a "doorman", lol, Suga was an airline pilot or in military? I think this song is a clapback at haters and also the pressures young people face in the wider Korean society. Some lines also address the accusations of them buying their own Albums to inflate sales while in reality that was the result of their hardwork and dedication. 'This is Bangtan Style, nothing like those lying wacks' maybe that's a reference to how shallow the Idol industry is and the lack of genuineness and transparency in the industry. BTS' lyrics always opens discussion on a wider concept and I love that part of them.
RM is a commercial pilot. It’s a bit more apparent with the crested hat he wears at the beginning. Some may confuse him for a hotel Bellhop boy, but then he would have those cylindrical fabric caps if was 🤓

They look so young in this XD. What I learned from “ARMY school” is that Dope and I Need U are BTS’ breakout songs. When Dope came out people were like, holy cow these boys can dance!
ahahaha let me be that army that wants to explain. I think you were definitely right about your interpretation! it is kind of them telling their haters that the reason they earned their success, is because unlike ''them'' they worked hard. I guess thats why they feel pride and justified in saying they are dope and being cocky about it lol. The criticizing of haters happens for instance in namjoons verse. He talks about ''sampo generation''/''opo generation''. They also mention this phenomenon in Baepsae (i believe, and maybe other songs too). In the lines after that he calls out the media and suga continues to call the media the enemy (translations from doolset): 언론과 어른들은 의지가 없다며 우릴 싹 주식처럼 매도해 The media and adults say sell us out like stocks, saying that we are weak-minded Wordplay: 매도 can be (1) 매도 (賣渡): to sell, or (2) 매도 (罵倒): to denounce, to condemn. 왜 해보기도 전에 죽여 걔넨 enemy enemy enemy Why do they kill us before we even try? They’re enemy enemy enemy
To help you out miss ( don't know what to call you yet XD) for being cocky part. well they are and they aren't at the same time haha. this song addresses multiple subjects. - Note very well that in this era BTS isn't even a third of how big they are now. They still received hate and people didn't believe in them as much specially in Korea. some rappers looked down on RM and SUGA for leaving underground rap and going mainstream. And by locked down I mean they received very disturbing hate speech some of it went viral. so this is their respective way to talk back to those people in a "title song" ( in comparison with the Cyphers which are waaaaaay more aggressive). - Second thing talking in behalf of the youth and how older generation looked them on the younger ones. and doesn't matter how hard they work they were always addressed as lazy and not committed youngsters. This was one of BTS's main concepts since their debut "Bangtan". You will understand this way more if you listen to Baepsae and its explanation By DKDKTV. it's so popular for a reason. I know the lyrics are intimidating at first. I asked myself those same questions before. but I understood what it all meant later on. Sorry for the loooooong comment. Cheers
True, my Channel name doesn't give much information, does it? You can call me Hanna if you like. Thanks for your explanation and I'll add "Baepsae" to my list. 👍🏻

I'm sure he'd crush me in a millisecond 😆 I had no idea he studies Kendo, but he does have amazing control over his body. I though that came from dancing alone, but it seems to be a combination of dancing and martial arts. Very impressive!
I think all their professions or the majority of them are based on mangas/manhwas, JHope - Mars; V - Detective Conan, JK - Purple Hyacinth?; Jimin - Salaryman Kintaro, Jin - Iryuu: Team Medical Dragon; Suga - Area88 etc. of course I could be wrong, but these are the mangas I thought of when I saw their get up :)=
Dimple at the 5th Muster is illegal. Filter on the 2nd day of the their online concert and either day of My Time are my personal favorites of those songs. Jin in that Dimple is as sexy as I've ever seen him. Not that JK, Jimin & Tae aren't fire hot in that as well 😁
They are dope .. and so you are .. To me .. this song is a motivating song eventhough they are flixing their success .. 😅 I do not know how to explain it 😅💔
5:43 ... yes, V is probably a detective here, since you asked, as he has those R2R tape recording machines & closed circuit monitors. Even something that looks like a frequency counter/generator, hard to tell. But to me he also has that scientist / inventor vibe coming off of him, especially from that gray suit & bow-tie look. Reminds me heavily of Orville Redenbacher & other scientists from the 1950's in the States.
Oh my you're the first reactor to get the Det. Conan outfit. I think RM is a doorman and Suga is Air Force going by the drones but JM is a reg office worker.
Some songs you should check out/react to as a new BTS fan if you haven't already: Spring Day (the music video plus the fan-made theory/explanation video) -- This is one of their most poignant songs that spent THREE YEARS on the Gaon music chart. Answer: Love Myself -- Along with Spring Day, this is one of five songs I can think of off the top of my head that has literally saved lives. People who were contemplating suicide changed their minds after listening to this song. The lyrics are just indescribably profound. Magic Shop -- This goes together with Answer: Love Myself. It's just a huge pick-me-up when you need it.
First: You are looking fabulous this video, you are amazing, keep doing you. Second: Dope is really special to me because it's why I fell down the rabbit hole. I was at practice for MultiCulti: some friends were rehearsing their Dope dance cover and I really liked the song so I went home and looked it up. They had me at, "Welcome. First time with BTS?" The editing needs to be commended for how well they made it look like one shot. Pilot Namjoon? Police officer Jungkook (cue the flashbacks when Run BTS episode 12 came out)? Office worker Jimin (his eye makeup is ALWAYS on point and I can't deal with it but also please never stop; also, it's actually Dimple that's Illegal)? Race car driver Hobi? Sergeant Yoongi? Detective Tae (he is absolutely Detective Conan - Jungkook dressed as him one Halloween, and so did Mark from NCT)? Doctor Jin? "I reject rejection" is an amazing line, but I wholly recommend this video (ua-cam.com/video/FhWUagYBbtI/v-deo.html) for an explanation of the song's meaning. I will drop part of it here, though, since the subtitles don't do it justice: Sampo (3) Generation = given up courtship, marriage, and having kids due to social pressures and economic struggles Opo (5) Generation = Sampo + employment and home ownership Yookpo (6) Generation - Then, since I like beef jerky, let me be Yookpo Generation (play on words; both are pronounced the same) = Opo + interpersonal relationships Chilpo (7) Generation = Yookpo + hope The message of this part is that whatever else, they're refusing to give up on hope, which is why after the rap he asks, "So can I get a little bit of hope?" (and, you know, we've got our very own Hope there with them) "And Jungkook is Fire." Nah, that came the next year. But they were rather young; when the music video was released, Jin was still 22, Yoongi was 22, Hobi was 21, Namjoon was still 20, Jimin and Tae were still 19, and Jungkook was still only 17 (international age; still meaning their birthday hadn't passed that year yet).
You're the very first reactor that I've watched who got Detective Conan.. SO I'M SUBSCRIBING. And I also love the choreography for this.. but Seokjin curses it.. cause it's so fast.
I am back. Yeah, you liked Dope. Love this song and choreo. Jimin looks hot in red hair. I like your lawyer idea. I though he was a office worker. Suga is so cute with the pale blond hair. JK super cute too. In fact all of them are cute in this. =0p I think the song is about following your dreams. You nice keep going! -baby ARMY NY USA 💜
People don't seem to know this, but in the studio version and the MV, it's actually Jimin who's singing that very high note "I'm gonna make it fire baby!" JK only appears to Jimin's vocals. However when they're performing "Dope" live on stage, it's JK who's singing Jimin's high part because Jimin wanted him to. Moreover, in the first line of the bridge in the MV and studio version, it’s JK who’s singing ”Ireon ge bangtan seutail” 이런 게 방탄스트, but they show Jimin. They’ve never told us why they switched in the MV, but u can clearly tell by their vocals. So their voices don’t match the video.

Wordplay: 매도 can be (1) 매도 (賣渡): to sell, or (2) 매도 (罵倒): to denounce, to condemn.
왜 해보기도 전에 죽여 걔넨 enemy enemy enemy
Why do they kill us before we even try? They’re enemy enemy enemy
To help you out miss ( don't know what to call you yet XD)
for being cocky part. well they are and they aren't at the same time haha.
this song addresses multiple subjects.
@@YouandMe14 When you watch Bapsae, make sure to watch explanation video to understand the song better.
@@YouandMe14 Alright then. Hajimemashite Hanna XD. too much to catch up on, I know. I kind of envy you hahaha
I saw in your other channel that you studied KENDO and just for info JIMIN also studied KENDO.😊 you can chk BTS JIMIN OUTSTANDING KENDO and TAEKWANDO SKILLS.👍
I'm sure he'd crush me in a millisecond 😆 I had no idea he studies Kendo, but he does have amazing control over his body. I though that came from dancing alone, but it seems to be a combination of dancing and martial arts. Very impressive!
@@YouandMe14 yes! Truly impressive💜 the gracefulness and sharpness of Jimin's dancing skill.😊
I'm a girl but wtf 0:00 seconds in and u already took my breath away, u look like a disney princess!
Only BTS can do BTS~~~!!^^♥♥
pls do a reaction on Filter by jimin it is the best
At time stamp 3:55 you sumerize it perfectly and I almost wept with pleasure. Again such a relief to watch someone quick on the uptake
I think all their professions or the majority of them are based on mangas/manhwas, JHope - Mars; V - Detective Conan, JK - Purple Hyacinth?; Jimin - Salaryman Kintaro, Jin - Iryuu: Team Medical Dragon; Suga - Area88 etc. of course I could be wrong, but these are the mangas I thought of when I saw their get up :)=
Great reaction as ever.....
Try the 'Tiny Desk Concert' and 'Truth Untold live'.....amazing performance and vocals, you'll love them, Jimin shines 🌟
Jimin detective 🕵 love you.
I really love this song, their lyrics are just dope! 😂
Love ur reaction jimin my favorite also💜
As usual, just love your videos--they make me appreciate the songs and MVs anew and in general bring joy to my life.
Thank you! 💜
please react to BTS jimin legendary fancam combination by Jem.
If you like this, you definetly should watch the dope/beapse/fire/run medley.
yes
Haha, yeah this song is about hard-working with a little bit of bad boy atmosphere for me🤣🤣💜💜
If you think this is illegal, wait until you see dimple, filter, my time, etc... 😅
But anyways, love your reactions and good luck on your thesis!
Dimple at the 5th Muster is illegal. Filter on the 2nd day of the their online concert and either day of My Time are my personal favorites of those songs. Jin in that Dimple is as sexy as I've ever seen him. Not that JK, Jimin & Tae aren't fire hot in that as well 😁
she heard dimple
@@athelas5305 agree. Filter D1 is my fav.
They are dope .. and so you are ..
To me .. this song is a motivating song eventhough they are flixing their success .. 😅
I do not know how to explain it 😅💔
Nice and best reaction..I love it ❣️🥰
please react to Tiny tan - Dream on. they are so adorable.
I already watched it "off camera", sorry... (it was so adorable)
Yes v is like conan anmy🤓

Thanks for cool and fromyourheart reaction !
After "Dope", next stop should be "The truth untold" lyric version.
Please !!!
ur vibe is so chill i like u so much🥺
You're so pretty
Yes, he is detective Conan :))
'Shut. up.'
I enjoyed :)
5:43 ... yes, V is probably a detective here, since you asked, as he has those R2R tape recording machines & closed circuit monitors. Even something that looks like a frequency counter/generator, hard to tell. But to me he also has that scientist / inventor vibe coming off of him, especially from that gray suit & bow-tie look. Reminds me heavily of Orville Redenbacher & other scientists from the 1950's in the States.
RM might be a Hotel Porter & Suga such a General
If You Haven't Watched BTS WAR OF HORMONE MV AND BTS NOT TODAY @SPEAKYOURSELF THE FINAL IN SEOUL PERFORMANCE PLEASE REACT TO IT 💜💜💜
yes pls
Any Jimin fans here? :)
Dope is one of their best MVs. But what MV isn’t. The Jimin-effect has you-affected 🤣🤣
Oh my you're the first reactor to get the Det. Conan outfit. I think RM is a doorman and Suga is Air Force going by the drones but JM is a reg office worker.
It's because I grew up with that Anime and loved it 😉
Jungkook in that police uniform never gets old. 🤤
I just realized that V looks like detective conan, I thought he's an accountant. You should alse check FIRE MV. Spread love 💜💜
React to jimin's filter performance
Some songs you should check out/react to as a new BTS fan if you haven't already:
Spring Day (the music video plus the fan-made theory/explanation video) -- This is one of their most poignant songs that spent THREE YEARS on the Gaon music chart.
First time with BTS?"
The editing needs to be commended for how well they made it look like one shot.
I will drop part of it here, though, since the subtitles don't do it justice:
Sampo (3) Generation = given up courtship, marriage, and having kids due to social pressures and economic struggles
Opo (5) Generation = Sampo + employment and home ownership
Yookpo (6) Generation - Then, since I like beef jerky, let me be Yookpo Generation (play on words; both are pronounced the same) = Opo + interpersonal relationships
Chilpo (7) Generation = Yookpo + hope
The message of this part is that whatever else, they're refusing to give up on hope, which is why after the rap he asks, "So can I get a little bit of hope?" (and, you know, we've got our very own Hope there with them)
"And Jungkook is Fire." Nah, that came the next year. But they were rather young; when the music video was released, Jin was still 22, Yoongi was 22, Hobi was 21, Namjoon was still 20, Jimin and Tae were still 19, and Jungkook was still only 17 (international age; still meaning their birthday hadn't passed that year yet).
Please react to BTS jimin best live high notes and raspy vocal compilation by Jem
You're the very first reactor that I've watched who got Detective Conan.. SO I'M SUBSCRIBING. And I also love the choreography for this.. but Seokjin curses it.. cause it's so fast.
This was my first BTS song and Namjoon be like ‘first time to BTS?’
Me: 😳 How’d you know!!! 😂
와~ 오랜만이에요 반가워요~ 리액션이 더 리얼해지셨어요^^ Dope를 이제야 보셨구나 ㅎㅎ 잘 지내죠?
Wow~ How are you? The reaction became more real. You have now seen this video. You've been well, right?
"V reminds me of that anime character"..... And here we go again... Another one!! :D :D
I love ur reaction💜

You are gorgeous ❤️
Hi please react to bts live performance of the truth untold, save me,and im fine.that was good performance.so excited for your next reaction💜💜💜.
please watch this clip "tony montana" - bts
RM is pilote
People don't seem to know this, but in the studio version and the MV, it's actually Jimin who's singing that very high note "I'm gonna make it fire baby!" JK only appears to Jimin's vocals. However when they're performing "Dope" live on stage, it's JK who's singing Jimin's high part because Jimin wanted him to.
Moreover, in the first line of the bridge in the MV and studio version, it’s JK who’s singing
”Ireon ge bangtan seutail” 이런 게 방탄스트, but they show Jimin.
They’ve never told us why they switched in the MV, but u can clearly tell by their vocals. So their voices don’t match the video.
Jimin 🔥
Please react jikook moments i think about a lot
