- This one was a good one! Who am I kidding, all the music videos are good, but this one hit especially hard somehow. Normally, I'm not into this kind of heavily electronic music, but I loved the beat. The lyrics were just dope and I thoroughly enjoyed every second of this Video.

A bit of trivia, this song was written by RM and he was inspired by former US President Obama, when he gave a speech and did a literal mic drop at the end of it. Also, there are at least two versions, this one and one that has more Korean in it. Now that you've seen Mic Drop, you really should watch the first Tiny Tan video, Magic Door. It's chibi BTS and they sing this song in the video. There's a second Tiny Tan video but they have the song "Zero O'clock" in that one and I don't think you've heard that one yet. The chibis wear the Mic Drop outfits where you commented about them all having red, so it's easier to tell who is who. They are absolutely adorable, as chibis usually are.

I tend to lurk but since this was my real introduction song to BTS I just wanted to say hello. If you look up the Bangtan Bomb on the making of this video it is a great behind the scenes about the filming and the hard work that went into this one. I’m sure that you understand that world situations currently make them a little more reliant on green screens for recent music videos. I have really been enjoying catching up with your content! This is their first song I read the lyric. At first, I just listened because I loved the song and its’ mood, then my ARMY friend just asked me that ‘Do you know the translation of the hook? You should look for it.’. I was so surprised after that. ‘wow, this is the first time I head someone singing songs to fight back their haters. They must have gone through such a rough, hard time.’ Since that, I started reading their lyrics in every songs. I normally didn’t pay attention to the lyric in any song especially K-pop song but my friend told me that if I wanted to listen to their songs I should read their lyrics as well. And that’s how my journey begins. Dynamite brings me to know BTS but their lyrics and themselves are the ones that keep me stay. (I have known them since 2015 but never paid attention to them. You can still find the original version here on UA-cam. The difference is the original has gong/bell type timbres in it. The Aoki mix has more of a touch of his style of EDM & deeper bass lines.
Also, don't go by the "they don't use green screen" motto. Sure, in the beginning they did not, but that was because of budget & production skillset. As time goes by & they get richer, their music video production design & imagination will see fit what will use traditional effects & what will use CGI & greenscreen. For example, their "Idol" & "Dynamite" MV's use a lot of CGI & greenscreen, with a mix of traditional stage carpentry for prop buildings & anything that needs structures made of metal & wood. Traditional sets also cost a lot, so if you're going to want to save money, then by all means use composite videographic & digital techniques. The same thing happened with television & cinema. Rarely do movie production houses use plastic kit modeling nowadays for sci-fi effects because CGI can do it much cheaper & with better outcomes (in the right hands), especially when you have no idea if a new movie is going to make profit, so you might as reduce expense as much as possible.

Yes, Steve Aoki is full blooded Japanese. He is Japanese American - actually grew up in my neck of the woods (California). He is an internationally reknown DJ and record producer. His father is Rocky Aoki who started Benihana restaurants in the US. His half sister is Devon Aoki (who is half white/half Japanese). She used to be a model. Steve Aoki also produced another song for BTS called 'Waste it On Me'.

Its actually no surprise if u love Jimin's dance. He is literally a dancer since fetus(lmao) but jokes aside, he really did learn contemporary dance since school and was a very passionate student. Jimin has a lot of talents😭 so his moves is always measured and agile. Another dancer is Hobi who dance since a kid and was a street dancer. They both are the best dancers no lie.
And Jungkook is equally as good. He learned dance in LA for some time and mastered the emotion in his dance so he is really a flexible and great dancer. V is one of great dancers too, quite differently from others, he has his own technique and measurement, own style of moves. He only learn dancing for some time and during trainee years, but he is one of best dancers just see singularity. Also, his pop and lock is amazing as well.
They all went really hard on this one but for me watching Jimin go like that finished me. Funny but when I first watched this I didn't know any of their names. I do love a good MIC Drop reaction to this day. And I ordered the MIC Drop TinyTANs today. *happy dance*

The Weverse Shop app sells them but there are a lot of KPop merch sites that sell officially licensed products. Also people will buy the max number allowed and sell on Ebay or Etsy with outrageous markups.
Right now the MIC Drop figures come in a themed box with a display stand and are about 3 inches tall or you can get the mini monitor sitters. Cuteness overload! There are still TinyTAN plush figures, too.

Jimin actually had the hardest time b/c he had the shortest time of all the members before debuting, and he talks about how he almost got cut multiple times. B/c of his modern dance background he had a really hard time switching over to hip hop dancing which has a different way of standing, etc. I saw a dancer's video breaking down the differences between the two and explaining just how difficult it had to be.

Steve Aoki's pretty darn cool - The Truth Untold was also a collaboration with him, and RM and Jungkook sang Waste It On Me for his Neon Future III album. Also! It didn't seem like it registered, but this remix is mostly in English! The original version is in Korean, then there's the Japanese version, and when they perform it's most always the remix track in whatever language.
*There's the theory that the security camera focus is a reference to Ai Weiwei's 2010 work "Surveillance Camera."
*The match-cuts in this MV give me LIFE. Seriously, it still blows my mind that they're able to replicate their dances so precisely in different locations.
*The figures in black, also seen in other music videos like Not Today, are thought to be representative of their haters. MIC Drop can also be considered Cypher Pt. 5 (or Pt. V, because there is no bigger fan of the rap line, as you saw in the Ddaeng performance); following up a series of diss tracks aimed at their haters, this song is their mic drop to that (inspired by Obama's at the end of his White House Correspondents Dinner speech!). *"You're a tasteless ratatouille" is literally one of my favourite lines from them EVER. When broken down the syllables are noises often used in sounding out a beat, so he's basically saying "You're a bland, unoriginal human being AND your music sucks."
*"lyrics are literally fire" No, that would be Fire 🤣 Fun fact: fans like to joke that "Did you see my bag?" is a reference to their uncanny ability to lose things when travelling - once they even lost a whole Taehyung in Sweden!
*The choreography for this song is SO addictive - "Somebody stumblin'" is a unanimous favourite.
*I can't remember whether his Habits video mentions it, but observe here the continuing saga of Jimin vs Jackets and be warned of the existence of Jimin vs Chairs. That was my intro to BTS, but only the song not the vid, and I put it onto my song list in the car, then Fake Love and lots of old school Suju and Big Bang. Only fell down the rabid hole during Covid-19 when ON MV was in my recommendations and I got to see those guys after 4 years of listening to their songs in my Kpop mix CD in the car. LOL.
