Different styles, but both are wonderful and both kick arse or ass when needed. No finer regiments in the world. Just beat the drums and if necessary the enemy.
I agree with the decision, the Marines did great but the Scots had more men to create a wider variety, plus the beer drinking after the first performance was fucking awesome.
Wow, so many people taking this seriously, it was a bit of banter, no one won and everyone did. No, if it were a composite band (made up from 2 or more bands) they'd have more drummers. They are from the Marine Corps Band Quantico. In addition to the Marine Corps Band and Commandant's Drum & Bugle Corps at 8th & I, the Marine Corps has 10 field bands, one of which is stationed at Quantico.
*This is a contrast of two contemporary marching lines.* Here, the Drums of the Scots' Guards, a detachment of the Household Division (GBR), pack Pearl hardware current in pipe and drum corps: FFXP-1412 high-tension double snare, PTD-1612 single tenor, and PBD-2814 bass. Scots guard had 7 snare drummers playing crazy lines so tight it sounded like one player. Marines sounded great, and not to take away anything from them, but as far as technical precision, Scots guard slaughtered.
Anyone else think that bringing along a symbol guy was a bit weird. Anyway, it was a great performance on both sides well done. A lot of respect involved.......I have to ask though, how often do Us Marine drummers play, i cant find it anywhere on the internet but it says that Scots guard drummers play changing the guard in London and state occasions but don't always do changing the guard. quick comment is. consider this, the Scots Guard regiment is made up of 650 Officers and men and yet can still put up a challenge to a Marine Corps of how may thousand?
Gary Bennet. Really? Do you even know what you are saying? They are the Scots Royal REGIMENT. The ENTIRE Marine Corps Has roughly 185,000. But a REGIMENT in the Marine Corps is much, much smaller. 120 to a company, 4 companies to a battalion, 4 battalions to a REGIMENT. Of coarse the actual numbers will vary. I am using these figures simply to give you an idea of how it all comes together. I think that should help clear things up for you. So, Charlie 1/5 is Charlie Co., 1st Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division.
Scot's Guards have skills but lost it when they threw their sticks down and their soloist tried for a mental psych out which the Marines successfully countered with finesse and cools.

I, without bias, think the Marines won. I just like their play style better, though both did very good, as well.
the marines never once looked at there drum and they wernt wearing oakleys.
I see now and I say "they wear in uniform atleast they were formal"
Yoooooooo where are the kilts and bagpipes?! It just doesn't feel like the Scots Guard without them.
Those are drummers, Scots Guards drummers don’t need to wear kilts, they wear their red colour Drummers tunics.
