There just a lot of competition between titles and games to choose from. It was the next big game genre. Now we only got a handful of the popular ones.
It's clear a lot of effort was put into this game unlike many cash grab copycat fighters of the era. It's too bad this title was lost in the shuffle and isn't more well known. Saying it's underrated is an understatement.
this is my 1st time seeing this game and it it's fire! the design is really unique, and has a cool cinematic feel to it. like how they show depth of field on the levels by having parts of the level in the foreground in front of the characters, and how fighters can interact with those elements. it also has that 90s saturday anime style which is really cool. also, the continuous non existing "corners" is nice touch. like why didnt anyone else do that? that's genius! fighter's can endlessly move left and fight through the stage.
As a pixel-artist, my most sincere opinion is This game have a fantastic artwork and very good animations I like these big and detailed sprites used in the Taito machines based. Every time people hear about the golden age of pixel-based games, think about consoles like Super Nes or Mega Driver. But, so far, the best examples of this type of game are on Neo Geo and Arcade with Taito base.
I remember this one and it does totally deserves a remake. Filled with interesting characters with unique stories and theme. Only would need correction and then a platform, PC is always ready.
@@kishaurlanda571 I dunno, her original official art had her kicking a butterfly in two. That + the hair is two Jolyne references in her first appearance. One is a coincidence, two is on purpose.
@@krodmandoon3479 most of design of Street fighter design was more based off fist of north star for example rolento from final fight moves like psycho crusher i don't even remember Capcom reference JoJo but when seth says abibibigail punch! oraoraora or stop time that's JoJo reference hee.
Rouwe real created his own style and trapped himself on that GOD forsaken planet to train. He defeated Goku, Broly, Asura, Akuma, Oro, Superman Thanos, Kenshiro, Roah, Toki, Baki and Yujiro all at the sametime. Legend has it he's still somewhere on that planet.
This game along with Warzard we’re two of my favorites as a kid .. the 90s were so rad! Tons of GIANT arcades in those times .. I had a blast for sure dumping my allowance into those machines
This game is so underrated, I loved how you can keep running left or right, and I really like the theme, all that galaxy with different fighters, I think this game had a lot more to give if they had survived. I wish we would be playing Galaxy Fighter 10 on PS5
Juri is definitely a good choice, she's the only one that has a big damaging super move that you can pull off at anytime, and it connects well with combos too. Gunter has an even stronger one, but that's more like a close range command grab, and you don't want to be in close range with Felden. Technically Alvan can out damage everyone when he transforms into his super mode, but he can only use it when his life is low (the effect does remain for the rest of the round though)
there's something about this game that REALLY captures the feeling of speed when characters close distance. it's definitely a camera zoom/parallax scrolling thing but seriously, there's nothing like it
This game reminds me of TMNT Tournament Fighters from the Genesis with the selection screen and the concept of the fights taking place on different planets of a galaxy.
@@dangunheadachron1603 Yes I'm aware of that. However I'm talking about the individual developer's not the companies themselves. This happens in many different instances for example the original devs of street fighter went on to leave Capcom shortly after and develop Fatal Fury for SNK. Devs who worked on SNKs Last Blade games went on to work on Arcsystemworks Guilty Gear. Cross polination of individual game devs happens all the time.
I really love the sprites and all, but what made me feel giddy was the camera controls for this. Every time there's a huge knockback the camera zooms WAY out and the character goes flying across the screen. THAT'S a really simple yet effective way to deliver an action scene in a setting like this.
Man her moves are really good and she's Juri before another popular Juri came into the fighting game genre, I really didn't pick her back in the day in the arcades. Thanks for the playthrough! Love it!
What a hidden gem of a tourney fighter game! Its gameplay & overall designs are already praised well by others so I want to appreciate the music here. Besides being catchy & eclectic, its the Rock/Metal based tracks which floored me. The instruments & song structures are orchestrated with respective authentic metal feel (even predating Guilty Gear X!), also there is distinct Dream-Theater influence permeating them, esp. tracks for the 3 boss battles & Staff credits. Yes the tempo is all standard 4/4 but the unique polyphony of melody, chromatic scales & subtle mix of genres within groovy yet intricate beats definitely reflect such, even in the non-metal tracks, its all courtesy this choice of Dream Theater styled musical scales and spirit. Thanks to this influence the soundtrack is beyond generic rock riffs & fills, definitely lingers in one's mind even after the game has ended. Verdict: Absolutely recommended. Thanks So Much LoadingGeek for this playthrough!

It should be, it was the decade where we were introduced to the genre.
There just a lot of competition between titles and games to choose from. It was the next big game genre. Now we only got a handful of the popular ones.
More than 25 years later and this game still looks and sounds incredible, Sunsoft's music composers deserve more acknowledgement.
I agree.👍
They've been consistently good since the NES days. Really flew under the radar.

Oh, so this is where "Roomi" originated from. She's another character to check off of the unknown mugen character list.

Disappointing soundtrack though. Still, a very charming game overall.

I Love the last bonus boss! Street fighter inspired. 💪
Shame Juri won't stray far from Galaxy Fight; she's a sexy design and her fighting style is awesome!
