Checking this video takes me back to the 90's arcades golden age in were if you found a place with arcades you never knew what kind of game would be there sometimes a total unknown one like in this case. First time I see this, sure if I encountered this back then I would play it or watch other people playing until my turn comes.
@Daniel G That is not the most important aspect, but the fact companies really wanted to make the games. It was a time of unlimited exploration and haste to innovate everywhere. And everybody wanted to make fgs, like even Konami in this case. That helped the evolution of the genre.
@@carlosaugusto9821 that's such an insulting strawman. As somebody who was heavy into not only Capcom but fighting games in general, I can attest that where I lived you never saw an AES out in the wild, the best you got for SNK were the dumbed down Takara ports for Super and Sega and anything that wasn't mainstream never even reached my neck of the woods. That includes the likes of Cyberbots and Star Gladiator. So much for "everybody was all into Capcom so there was no attention for anything else." Try harder 😒
@@michellelincoln9987 Its a strawman, but its not far off the mark. People were just mainly into capcom, snk and midway games and sometimes ignored the other arcade games. If the games weren't making money they got removed from malls etc.
@@shadowviruz this is trash. I was a damn fighting game nut all through the 90s until today and never heard of this game until right now. Most likely they produced very few cabinets.
I only just recently discovered this channel and I'm already in love with it the mid to late 90s really was the golden age of fighting games, a magical time where you just had to be there (if I can serve up a plate cliche nachos) it's rather fascinating just how many of these games I learned about after the fact thanks to the internet, since so many of them never left Japan and of the ones that did, unless they were super mainstream, never reached my neck of the woods. As somebody who has already gotten to experience many of these games later in their life thanks to the internet and emulation, I can't help but love a channel that exposes many of these legitimate hidden gems to a wider audience that hasn't already discovered them. I'm definitely going to keep up with this channel.
Thanks for the vid; had never heard of this game before. The background interactivity being done this early is pretty interesting, seeing as the NRS games made that much more important.
@@topherowlish I was thinking more of the mobility/positioning interactivity of the "hang points". Especially in the Fatal Fury series, I liked the two-plane idea, although the invincibility when moving between the planes seemed a little cheap. Same thing with the ring-outs in some of the later entries.
Or Racheal from Martial Champion, for that matter. If you think about it, Racheal's got thick thighs like Chunny and is a half-naked ninja like Mai, and is also a hot gringa like Layla. Konami hit three birds with one stone right there, and nobody ever remembers.
I remember seeing that game at the old Aladdin's Castle arcade in Chicago, but not too many played it since they were wasting their tokens on Street Fighter 2 or Mortal Kombat. Also, Layla is dead sexy! 😘
I never knew such a game even existed... It looks pretty good for the 90s, though... Also, the first fight was way harder than the 3rd lol.... And lastly, fighting on the wing of an airplane, mid-flight, is pretty neat :)
Dude, this game is awesome! I have never seen this game before. They should definitely bring this to the digital stores or in a physical collection. Konami did some damn decent fighting games.
Felt like I've known most fighting games of this period and have never heard of this one. Looks pretty good, actually! The way the hits sound/look reminds me of Konami's other fighting game around this time, TMNT Tournament fighters
Dragonball plot and the final boss if the poor man version of Yomi from Babel Nisei (complete with the tower of Babel in the background)? Well, the originality of the core concepts were definitely not the strong selling point of this game. Shame, since the rest seemed rather solid.

I have had and played lots of fighting games but never seen or heard of this one. A rarity!👍
Same...it reminds me a lot of turles tournament fighters, even the music. Its a real konami game thats for sure.

I'm convinced that time travelers exist and made this game. Because its too good for anybody to have never heard of it.
It's just that you and your buddies were all into Capcom and maybe MK. So there was no attention to anything else.
@@carlosaugusto9821 eh I followed fighting games pretty hard in the 90s but i never saw this title in any mags or arcades back then.

This game is one of the most unappreciated fighting games
wow i never heard of this fighting game. thanks for the upload.
The green blood is too funny!
I remember this back in the day at the arcades never finished this, but I'm glad to see Layla fought for her mom
Layla 😍🔥
Never heard of this game but it looks cool, would love to see it return in some way

I guess you didn't play any Neo Geo games that used the background (and foreground!) in their early fighting games?

Just another lost opportunity for Konami to port over for home consoles. 👾

this game has some interesting movement and attack moves. some of the arenas are pretty detailed too.
I'm old so i've played a lot of fighting games in my time but i missed this one plus i always loved weapon based fighers.
Omg, especially in 1995, I was in my prime for most fighting games of that time- I didn't know Konami made this. Time to hit up MAME!
I like the volcano rope map, that's beautiful

Decent? Great ones so as beat em ups. They could go toe to toe with Capcom and SNK back in the day.
I got to admit this one slipped under the radar completely, must be as obscure as Asura Blade. The animation is quite fluid and smooth
He music is incredible plus I like ‘Super Street Fighter 2’ sound effects.
I was playied this game, but is so hard😵
You've just earned A sub. Nice one
Ooh that's the title theme from TMNT X Justice League. I now know where it came from!
Konami's Samurai Shown attempt.

Konami really IS stupid for not bringing collections of their arcade fighters and brawlers to home consoles.
How such an amazing looking game never got a console release is beyond me. Maybe with Konami doing those ACA releases it will finally get one.
Pretty cool game. Obviously HEAVILY influenced by SNK's Samurai Showdown. Hope this game comes to the Nintendo Switch up on the eshop.
I was just about to check the e shop for it
wow, and i thought the only fighting game konami did was the TMNT one
Must be a European release or something cuz I ain't never seen a Konami fighting game outside of TMNT TF

Is this a spiritual sequel to Martial Champion, which in turn was a spiritual sequel to Yie-Ar KungFu.
I dont known, the style, proporcione and gameplay are ver different
in a world full of Street Fighter 2 clones, be a Samurai Shodown clone.
