you can get them anywhere cheap from any delhi tbh !they are everywhere go to brooklyn for the more expensive

You and your Nonna's recipe remind me of my Granny Inman's chicken and dumpling recipe. When she passed, I was the only one who got the recipe. I cherish it to this day. Like you said, everything is there for a reason. I also got her cast iron skillet that is over 100 years old. She was the one who taught me to truly love food. I used to eat so much pasta that I didn’t need a timer just by how the pasta looked I could tell you the exact mins left until it’s perfect, now I just time it 12 mins for perfect pasta :)
misstortoise102 i take a sample & bite it. That is how I know & it works every time. I finish it up in a wok adding other ingredients.

there is a place called "La Marca" between 22nd and 3rd Ave. You can use the "express cafe" on the side and get good pasta for around $7 and pick two kinds of sauces. HIGHLY recommend IT.

How biased can you be? Are you aware that northern Italians are blonde and pale? Damn your stupid idea that Italians are latinos and therefore not white. OMG. Here in Europe the idea of "not-white" refer to black people, asian, mixed race people. Everybody else is simply considered white. French people are white, Spanish people are white, Danish people are white. Italians are white. Simply some people have more melanine of others, but Italians have not dark skin complexion like middle-eastern people. That idea is simply not real.

I cook pasta all the time and I get the ingredients mostly in bulk, which makes them cheap. Sometimes I also get pasta extremely cheap on sale. I end up making mushroom & white sauce pasta with Parmesan for around $1/serving. Or a red sauce & ham pasta for $1 as well. So, I agree 100% about the value! $1 for homemade pasta vs $20-25 for a take-out pasta. Also, I'm not a pro, but I'm at the level when my pasta is better than the pasta I tried at quite a few restaurants... not fancy ones though! Still gotta learn. I got a pasta press a few weeks ago - time to up my skills!

Here in South Africa, $8 would be pretty standard at a high end restaurant. Food is great quality and quite cheap in SA

In italy we eat pasta “al dente” but not everyone loves it, for example I prefer pasta more cooked that al dente

$16 USD for 1 serving of pasta at one of the best (as per Yelp) places in New York? In Toronto, when I go to a super popular moderately prices restaurant, I end up paying around $22 USD per serving. The worst part is, some of our popular Italian restaurants sometimes serve you a $24 USD pasta that comes with CANNED tomatoes and FROZEN (defrosted, I mean) shrimp.
I'm so jealous of New Yorkers because of their Italian culture. Great pizza and great pasta.
