A friend of mine did a challenge sort of similar to this. He said he was going to show everyone how you can eat at 5 Star Restaurants for Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner without spending a single dollar. I thought he was crazy, but he was confident and said it can be done. I can't wait to tell you guys how it all turned out! He's currently in Fulton Correctional Detention Center in Missouri. I'm sure it's not related to his challenger. Lol But when he gets out in 4 months, I'll make sure to ask him how it went and give you all the results!
Sown Intergral It costs money to eat healthy. It’s insanity these days. Bananas 59¢ or Organic Bananas $2. But I’ve been involved a little bit in farms that deal with the healthy alternatives. I work on pipelines and the crap we went through to go through their farms was unbelievable. As I told the crew, no one f-ks up while working here. So I understand the cost of organic. I just won’t buy it.

I mean, if you do more research and great budgeting, it is hard, but you can live relatively inexpensively. if you live in the city you can walk everywhere, get free food/cheap food, keep bills relatively low at minimum costs, etc...The real challenge, which is why the poverty cycle even exists, is when things go wrong, which happens to everyone. I watched a Netflix documentary of a journalist who tried to live in poverty for 30 days with his wife. They were doing great and ended up with a 200 dollar surplus after their first month....But that was before everything was paid for. They ended up 1600 in debt and spent all of their emergency money...

But let's be honest, free sample is made for tasting or testing for example, it's not made for someone in need. It's the same principle used when you want to buy a software, they'll give you a small period to try it, but they wouldn't let you try it for years, that's why they require your credit card information, so that you don't use a new email and ask to try it another once. But, in the store, you can't ask people for their credit cards in order to give them samples, you just give samples. If this guy comes back everyday three or four times to ask a free sample, he'll be noticed and banned from the store. Unfortunately, homeless people, especially those with very limited access to clean lifestyle, they will be noticed rapidly and not given samples twice. In my comment I was only trying to point out a huge bias in the experiment. That's all, I've absolutely nothing against homeless people or any human in need.
Amar Daniel I worked in a place where we offered samples, and no matter how the person looked, we gave the individual the sample. They could come everyday and we’d still give them it.

Yes, NYC is one of the most expensive places to live in the country. NYC rivals San Francisco and LA for the cost of renting an apartment. NYC also has special city taxes in addition to NYS taxes, so there's tax on everything you buy - including food. It's extremely expensive to own a car in NYC too. It's so impractical that a lot of people that live in NYC don't own a driver's license.
You also have to consider the fact that not everyone has an apartment with a stovetop to cook food. Nor do they have iPhones where they can just download an app that magically gives them coupons to get free food

Honestly, food is not a problem in NYC. There are lots of affordable places to eat there. The main problem is the rent, and to a lesser degree, going around the city. Subway helps, but cab rides can be quite expensive.
LOL the only way I lived on a dollar a day in NYC was when they had 99 cent whoppers at BK. If I wanted more food I dumpster dived behind the grocery stores. I usually couldnt get in a soup kitchen - they ran out of food really fast in those days. 1996 in fact.

Honestly, food is not a problem in NYC. There are lots of affordable places to eat there. The main problem is the rent, and to a lesser degree, going around the city. Subway helps, but cab rides can be quite expensive.
