I actually think Attuned Caeda is much stronger then we all thought sure we understood that she was going to be good but I think the healing + true DR + just the shear amount of stats she gets in my opinion makes her one of if not the best omni tanks that can tank even enemies with full DR piercing, sadly her only weakness is not having NCD and NFU but we will eventually get NCD3 as a seal, echo or emblem effect sooner or later and NFU now adays is such an easy thing to hand out with supports but who knows with how things are going she will be power crept in a month and none of this will matter.
Fun Fact: Since Lyon's burn only activates when he can counter the enemy, you can use Water Sweep to hit him with a Ranged Nuke and they won't receive dmg (if they are faster). 🎉 I don't particularly recommend this but it is fun to see it happen.
I love using Brave Marth as my go-to end turn unit. Just gave him D Bonus Doubler and am very happy with it. I have him paired with L!F!Alear and it just lets him cleave through so many units.
I have been using LSeliph as a tank. Ironically I have been tanking more than anything else these past few seasons. My meta-countering techs have been Loki in light and Seidr in astra. I highly recommend Loki or any other gravity debuff support in light and it definitely should have gotten a spotlight here. Stall is good too since it counters Igrene and Tina if she is stealing extra movement from your team. Baiting out the other cav nukes (usually Sanaki) and then going in to playerphase Lyon has been my strategy and it works well. Seidr is a little less reliable at times because of the res check but even stronger than gravity when it works as it can’t be stopped by Freyr. I don’t see healing as a reliable response to chunk damage personally. It’s nice to have if your tank already has it, but the thing that will help every tank out there is taking the nukes on one at a time. Surviving Lyon is cool and killing him back is even better, but all that damage he does could leave your tank open to the other cavs after him. And it’s pretty much a death sentence if the Lyon had fatal smoke like other commenters have pointed out.
My end turn unit is Brave Claude, but with preempt looping deadeye(Marth ring and brave Robin). An enemy will do their absurd burn damage and he'll instantly undo it when he heals half his hp when he attacks
Gatekeeper is honestly such a fantastic omnitank support, Ive been using him since I started playing AR in November and his ability to keep units healthy alongside keeping dangerous warp units away from you has always done so much for me in practice. Also its worth noting that his omni drive does more to help than other drive healers since its effectively reducing 5 additional damage per combat
I was always more of a player phase fan, but since I've got my NY!F!Kana built, I love hitting endturn and hoping she tanks everything with full supports. Dragon's Roar was a godsend, and it's really fun to see her get even 0 damage thanks to her flat DR. I've even used her as a raid boss last SD, and although V!Lyon absolutely fucked me, I was actually surprised at how much she survived everything else. I also learned how good having Bulwark is!
Ive been using healing omnitanks since legendary corrins refines. 21 healing per combat without support, 7 from spd/res finish 4, 7 from counter roar and 7 from her prf weapon.
I used P!Felicia and P!Flora paired with Panic inflictors to counter V!Lyon in SDS and SDR, both can out-res him with this support and Flora could even kill him on the counterattack ! Did ok without having to rely on any valentine units !
I'm gonna try and build a perne to counter N!sanaki. I pulled an extra k!nino and spd preempt seems to be the right idea. My b!micaiah has been putting in crazy work during summoner duels as an anti Lyon unit as well. Usually I have to make a trade to kill him but it is always worth it.
I will be honest I don't really want defense to make big comeback as it's more toxic to deal with unkillable units than anything offensive teams can do. It also kills more older units viability when they can't kill anything anymore in comparison to offensive setups. A little change won't be really bad but big change would kill alot of units and players desire to play the game when their favorites (who may be an older unit) can't do damage anymore
Older units getting useless it's fault of the game design, delete buttons are brainless and those "untankable" units had stronger counters, wbyleth countered easily by legendary chrom
Im using Legendary Seliph with Gerik support. Makes Seliph take out Duo Sanaki. I've never tried tanking Lyon with any unit. I dont think it would go well.
If they didnt give Lyon null counter i think hed be managable... But with everything hes got its just ridiculous. I was playing SD without him. In 1 match id gotten a sizable advantage, but then because of threat range, had to move back my units. He triggered Lyons duo skill, shut off my 2 remaining units, and swept since i couldnt act. That was a rage quit moment for me
When unit start getting 100% of their hp restored after a fight and that they reduce 15 + 50% of the damage they are suppose to receive, you know the meta is balanced, Guess fatal smoke is gonna be the new weapon thing soon

Everybody gangsta until the mage nukes pull up with Fatal Smoke
Me and the bestie walking upon with fatal smoke Lyon and Sanaki
AoE Fatal Smoke Hardy Bearing V!Lyon is the stuff of nightmares
Ohhhh Joel, you started to like the healing that IS is putting on new units and skills. Good man, glad to see you are enlightened.
It's W!Byleth with Vantage and B!Robin and Gatekeeper support, he eats them Lyon like cakes
A vantage seal would be so fantastic on Byleth. Or Vantage 4 if it comes.
Arcane charmer is absolutely underrated.

I'm glad to hear explanations from this channel, very helpful info, especially as I haven't really mastered game strategy and meta
Healing is only a counter to burn damage if you don't instantly die before you get to attack, and the counter to healing already exists
The VLyon with Fatal Smoke:
I have been using LSeliph as a tank. Ironically I have been tanking more than anything else these past few seasons.

Brave 👏🏼 Marth 👏🏼
The legend that keeps on giving during this time of crisis in the meta.
Great video Joel!!! Love the analysis on the archetypes going into AR D and ARO! Super useful stuff and amazing job with the editing as usual!
Lapis will forever be my favorite end-turn unit and she only grows stronger with time (and attuned releases)

Allies > Ally Growth >Inherit Skill > Fatal Smoke 3 on Leon 😕
My favorite part was seeing "PivotMaster2 used a Duo Skill!"
I was actually hoping for a skill that made old omintanks better but instead we got a Caeda who makes older units less valuable
They’ll start giving us pre combat healing soon just you watch, I was using Severa for a while but now I’m trying L male Alear
Im mainly here for the sd portion, as i firmly believe everything has a counter :)
very informative vid, really appreciated it. what doc is that summoner's duel data in, is it a public one? looked really interesting
Dual Lyon, hortensia/Mira, caeda, and emblem marth is my current team

You don't play arena, do you? Meta is high mobility delete buttons that are extremely hard to tank.
* Me and the boys pulling up with every annoying strat known to man in the next AR-D (I still lost to winter edlegard)
I really like using Rhea as an end turn unit. I wish Seiros could buff her.
Im using Legendary Seliph with Gerik support. Makes Seliph take out Duo Sanaki. I've never tried tanking Lyon with any unit. I dont think it would go well.

Gate keeper stonk rise up! 📈
Idk my unmerged W!Edelgard can handle Myrrh just well
When will Duo Lyon come back?
Attuned Caeda
Does Freyr counter Duo Lyon?
Oh my god. Feh has become so disgusting. So we just use the meta units now. No more power investments? Geez.
