I don’t think MOST people care if it’s faster… but battery efficiency and temperature improvements would be extremely welcome.
I feel like this is every phone. Im currently on 15 pro max. The phones have plenty of power to do what we need right now what. What we really need is better batteries and cooling in phones. My 15 gets hot as hell sometimes and its annoying

You speak for yourself. I certainly care about speed and power. Especially if I'm paying a flagship premium price. I want the best. Not 2nd or 3rd best. So it's more than just better battery life etc.
@@RichieCow if we got the same exact chipsets next go around in the iphone or s25u and they improved the battery life by 50% id take that over a small bump in power. What exactly can your phone not currently do that you require so much power?
Same processing power with more efficiency is what's needed on all SoCs.
I feel like the Pixel 10 G5 TSMC news overshadows the Pixel 9 G4
I have been holding off updating my Pixel 6 Pro for the 9 Pro XL. I am not concerned about regretting being trapped in a 9 series when the 10 series drops. Quite a dilemma for me
@@MyLifePixeled to be fair I'm sure there will be some hangup with the Pixel 10 series due to it being Google's first venture with TSMC, I don't think you'd make a bad decision by getting the 9 series. I also have a 6pro sitting at home still a very capable device.

I think for most people, a modem is more important than peak performance. Do we know anything about the new Exynos modem 5400? What about tensor G5 Will it still utilize the Exynos modem? It's extremely difficult to develop a modem, even Apple pays huge amounts for the Snapdragon modem.
Sounds good to me. The fact that it’s a chip based on 2023 hardware is a welcomed upgrade for me. That means efficiency and power should be significantly better.
i just want battery efficiency and no heating of phones from pixel .. that is it... their cameras are excellent , just need those improvements from them

I think even my Samsung S8+ was fast enough lol, but what I think Google needs to fix is the battery consumption when 5G is active. That is when I notice my battery starts to drain quickly.
I have same issue on pixel 7, I was hoping it is fixed on pixel 8.

Google really needs to move away from Samsung foundry to TSMC and I am glad they are doing it for the G5.
I hope that they'll move to TSMC soon for their chips! With the recent Pixel's price increase, it is difficult (psychologically) to consider buying this phone when you know that they haven't given you the best hardware they could offer. But as I said, it's more psychological than anything, because I'm sure that these devices run very smoothly.
It's just that people tend to look for a "future-proof" phone in this price range, and they prefer to hear that the product has the latest and greatest processor.
Your previous video on the Tensor 5 processor sounds more encouraging but at least this looks to be making progress.
Even Tensor G3 is handy with single core multi core and gpu scores. It was lagging in memory abd ux scores

I just want a better modem and battery life. Tensor is never efficient.,
The g3 was already way better in the 8 pro in terms of efficiency. So if the g4 is going to be around 20% better, the difference will be very noticeable.
And I don’t get the modem criticism. I never had problems.
Having used 3 different Pixels, I can tell you people focus too much on raw processing power. Tensor chips perform adequately and just fine. The problem comes from the modified Exynos processor that Tensor is based on. That brings all the issues like efficiency of battery, overheating, and general connectivity problems. The rumors about G4 say the new chip will fix many of those issues and I hope it’s true. I don’t think it’ll truly improve till 2025 with TSMC taking over for the Tensor G5 or whatever they call it. But as a fan of Pixels I hope G4 will be much better.
I think they've ran with the Exynos base for 3 iterations and I don't think a 4th will solve all their woes, battery life, thermals, meh modems. Personally, I'll probably wait till they're back on TSMC. I mean all things being equal the improvements from the G1 to G3 are negligible especially if you consider how much of a night and day difference there was between the SD 8G1 and 8G2 (even the 8+G1).
They need to get more performance on the Tensor soc, but without increasing max Hertz. Slower speed better batter and better performance.
Overclocking to the hilt has repercussions, like Apple M1 was so good, they have to work hard to even double performance.
True, but there's a big difference between peak and average. Lots of optimizing to be done.
Comment section is full of cry babies over the pixel the 8 pro is still a good phone no issues besides the modem and that’s being fixed in 9 so I don’t see why people riding bandwagon of hating
Do not buy the pixel 9 series. This tensor in the 9 will be the last pixel chip that samsung will make for google. Wait for the pixel 10 because the chips will then be made by tsmc, who also make chips for Qualcomm and will be much better.

Been a nexus/pixel user since nexus 4 stuck on pixel 4 xl.. These phones are held back by their modems. Where I work I can stream twitch and UA-cam tv on my pixel 2xl and 4xl while driving a forklift. It took 6 minutes to tweet Google on the pixel 6 pro and couldn't stream twitch on the pixel 7 pro on the lowest setting without buffering while stationary.

Interesting, my P8 Pro scores sligthly over 1mil on v10.2.6, closer to those leaked G4 scores.
Tons of variables. Starting temperature, OS version, etc. this sort of illustrates my point that we shouldn't be paying that much attention to benchmark scores. You can't even get two of the same devices to agree on them.
@@scaryifliteral final G4 probably will score around 1.5mil. Will be closer to 8 Gen 3 but still behind (scores from 1.8mil to 2mil), configuration is very similar, but cloaks quite a bit lower. Also from the leak it points out to the same Mali-G715 GPU which is in P8 line, which seem very odd, it was very weak GPU even in P8 series.

It's not about the performance. It's battery life and how hot it gets. In India, it's just unusable.
Unless the price (and trade in on pixel 8) is right I think I'll pass on the 9 and wait to the 10.

There are lots of apps that could use a better performance.. specially #mcraw, with raw videos. Pixel 8 pro is one of the worst performance phones out there.. drop frames really easily..
The Pixel phones have only UFS3.1 which means slow storage speeds and read speeds, so that could also be why its performing badly on the raw videos.
@AndrewTSq for sure is a factor for 4k 60fps raw..
But ufs 3.1 is more than enough for 4k 30fps raw..
And if you want to encode on real time to hevc 160mbps for example, the load is more on GPU..
The pixel 8 pro throttles heavily..
Even my s23 ultra can do 4k 30fps encoded in real time to hevc fairly stable.. even with Brazils hot temps :)
