    1 Peter 4:8 says, "Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins." As homemakers, we must work with a servant heart, leaving behind selfishness, and loving above all else. I am so excited this video is live! The devil has been working VERY hard at preventing me from being able to post to UA-cam. First, my camera stopped working out of nowhere, when I recorded on my phone it wouldn't upload to the computer, once I uploaded it to the computer I ran out of storage and it wouldn't export, once I had the video edited and completed my voiceover, deleted pretty much everything from my computer, ALL footage from iMovie got deleted. Sadly, I lost all of my video footage that I was saving, and the entire video I already edited and was ready to post. I decided to film a new video, which wouldn't upload to my computer, so I reuploaded the footage for this video. Once I got my video finished AGAIN, I began to upload it to UA-cam, and my computer decided to update mid-upload, while my family was out of the house. It has been a JOURNEY my friends, but with many tears and prayers, I persevered. I pray this video can speak to you, and brings you closer to Christ.
    I am still so thankful reaching 1,000 subscribers! I have not forgotten about my giveaway....even though I am at almost 9,000 subscribers. I am currently working on my giveaway gift! So sorry it has taken so long. I greatly appreciate all of your love and support.

    You have me in tears. This has been a pretty big struggle/battle of mine. Selfishness rooted in pride that really makes the house work lag among other things. I pray that Jesus is my main focus and that I serve Him by serving my family with gratefulness. Thank you so much for this encouragement and the passages you read went straight to my heart. It’s so amazing how the Lord can cut us to the heart even with verses we have read so many times before. 😢❤❤❤

    Yes as homemakers we need to be very selfless. Oh but it beings so much joy!! God's ways are best!! When we humbly put ourselves last God has a way of bringing us first when we least expect it. As women we are the "thermostat" of our home. Our attitude can bring peace and joy to our family or can cause stress and sadness. Let's serve with joy and thankfulness! Thank you for another beautiful video!

    Wow, this really hit me. I work FT outside the home. I’m up at 4:30 am and when I walk in the door at 4-4:30 pm, I feel resentful and lazy that the house is messy and I have to review homework and start dinner etc.
    The mess and lack of schedule triggers my anxiety significantly, so the best thing I can do is just do it. Pray about the resentful feelings and do what needs to be done🙏🏻❤️

    • @KJ-lb4tj
      @KJ-lb4tj 5 місяців тому +3

      No wonder you feel anxious. You're already working a 12 hour day. Coming home and feeling exhausted is paying attention to your body. This woman is doing her 12 hour day at home organising the home. You're working all day already. We are not meant to work 24 hours a day. Heaping more coals on your head is unhelpful. A good way forward would be to sit down with the whole family, see if there is a way to get a rota going, that would be unselfish - everyone doing what they can do in difficult circumstances. Or see if you can reduce outgoings to pay for a cleaner a few hours a week, or reduce work hours. Or, even, God forbid, the Christian community around you might help out, someone might step in and offer to do your laundry or hoovering or bathrooms... Isn't that what the body of Christ is?

    • @lahannah1224
      @lahannah1224 5 місяців тому +2

      Sister I have felt the same way. Every person has different circumstances. God doesn't mean to over tire yourself to where you feel no joy or start to resent people around you. In life there will always be certain chapters of life where one will be putting more effort in than everyone else around them. It's normal and that is just life but to do it in every chapter in life is not what being a servant means. When women go out into the workplace it takes away from her home and children. The way God created us we strive when we are teachers to our children and when we take care of our home. When a woman starts to prioritize where the man should be prioritizing then too much is in your hands to even control or take care of leaving your life a mess. I was a single mom for 13 years and I know the struggle of having to do EVERYTHING. It is exhausting and to try and find joy while doing laundry with 3 hours of sleep after working all day at a job and dinner on the stove while the child is screaming for you in the background is impossible for a woman to be healthy or happy. I know your pain but I always say prayer is the most powerful and God will help. Continuous prayer and not giving up on God for his help is the key and answer.

    Your videos are so lovely!
    Thank you for noting that disability can affect our housekeeping and home making and that's okay. I like your talk about reflection, asking ourselves what we need to get done and why we are not getting it done. This is something I started asking myself several years ago, and have kept a housekeeping notebook as I make these discoveries.
    I have cats. And some of the most useful changes I've made to help myself get through the day is a long handled dustpan so I don't have to bend over to sweep up when I sweep floors.
    And I got three step stools from the dollar store. They are lined up each in front of the other and I put the cats litter box on them. The box sits on two of them. The third is for the cats to step up on to get in. Makes it much easier for me to reach to clean it.
    Also, feeding the cats their canned food treat on the bed instead of the floor. Again, easier to reach. Thet have a sheet I toss over the bed during the day to keep my own bedding clean.
    Other things I've learned to do:
    Break down 'easy' tasks into smaller steps. They don't have to all be done at once. Instead of just vacuuming the floor: Check the vacuum bag and change if needed. And any other maintenance on the vacuum. Everything off the floor. Vacuum. Same thing anybody else does. But seeing it as three steps that don't necessarily have to all be done at once makes it doable.
    "Put away" might not be where it used to be. Especially for things that are used often. Some things are kept in sight and in easy reach.
    Just thought I'd share in case it's helpful to anybody else. ☺

    I wish I was a sit on the floor mom like this. I read the books but I can't stand playing make believe with my kids. Their dad is so much better at it. I wish I could change the way my brain works. I do all the other things like cooking from scratch and homeschooling and all that. But sometimes I feel bad I don't play with them much!

    • @faithfulacresfarmhouse
      @faithfulacresfarmhouse  6 місяців тому +6

      I play with my kids 15 minutes each of the game they want (not a brag)...it is my least favorite time of the day. I honestly am not the mom who loves to play with her children like that, but I have found it helps a ton with listening and behavior. I set a timer and once it goes off the kids know I'm done and that they have to play on their own. It also eliminates them constantly asking me to play. It is not thrilling games, but I try to put 100% of myself into it. It took me a long time to do this. I hear ya! Even if you go for 5 minutes. Books are also so important, so any time like what you're doing is great!

    I wasn't sure I'd like this but I did. I appreciate the insights.
    I wonder if or how this might apply to something known as "burnout". I've known some people--men and women alike--who have given so much of themselves at various times they become very weary and worn out. Even Jesus went alone to pray after long demanding days of ministering in healing, deliverance, teaching and preaching the Word of God, and feeding the multitudes.
    Certainly pride and selfishness have no place in the life of a believer. But we need to find a balance, I think. We have to learn to take care of ourselves, too, because if we don't then we won't be in a position to care for other people in our lives.
    That was one thought. Here's the other big takeaway I got tonight and thank you so much for bringing this home for me.
    We're not going about the business of our day simply to perform a duty, a chore or a function. This world isn't our eternal home and nothing we do here is permanent. Dishes will need to be washed again tomorrow. The lawn we mowed will need to be mowed again in due time.
    But that little child who is looking to us to teach him or her how to learn to do something they see us doing, that older parent who is lonely now because we're doing everything and they're sitting around in painful bodies not able to do anything... they need our kindness, our attention, our time, encouragement and a kind word.
    If we forget this--the whole thing goes sideways, we've lost the point. Selfishness and pride are formidable adversaries and hard enough to fight when we struggle in our own flesh, and we never win that battle then.
    The thought tonight about the hearts that are around me who are so vulnerable and need so much more from me than a clean plate, that cut me to the quick and punctured a hole in my own pride, hard heartedness and selfishness, as it should.
    That little child who sometimes seems like a nuisance will grow up soon enough, and soon enough that older parent who seems so demanding now will go home to glory.
    Do we really want to waste this little measure of time God has given us in this season?

    Those cookies look amazing. Thanks for all the encouraging words. I love taking care of what is needed. My 15 year old had socks in his bed today and always had something in there over the years. He also doesn't make his bed as neatly as he could and rushes through which is frustrating.
    I love the idea of doing the good for my neighbor. It is beautiful to think that we would care that deeply for others as Christ has.

    • @KJ-lb4tj
      @KJ-lb4tj 5 місяців тому

      Wow, a 15 yr old not making his bed 'as neatly as he could', sounds like perhaps expectations and priorities might need looking at. Your expectations here might begin to be an issue and he might completely live in a pig sty when he leaves home if the expectations are perfectionism rather than 'good enough'. Every part of life cannot be exceptional and we must choose what is both enough in some areas and living without perfectionism. It will give him the constant message that he can never be good enough, never quite make it. He's already good enough in God's eyes, in fact he can't do anything to make God love him more or love him less... Jesus did that for him. This kind of performance based thinking is not helpful for kids. It's great to want to get to know our neighbours deeply in character and person and be there for them in deep ways when you actually know what their needs are. But again there's a fine line between 'doing good' to feel good about it and get brownie points from God for it, or actually it just comes because you know deep down what they really need.

    • @TheMennomilist
      @TheMennomilist 5 місяців тому

      I am definitely not a perfectionist, and my kids know it too. My 15 year old's sheet is sometimes not even up and is shoved down and he just puts his quilt on his bed with loads of wrinkles. It is also a top bunk and not the easiest to make a bed in. I am patient and lenient on him and show him how to do it from time to time. I think basing your response on my ONE tiny sentence and saying your opinion without knowing me as a parent or person, etc, just doesn't come across very well in your response. You made it seems like I don't view my son as good enough or that he won't view himself that way is really wrong. The love I show for my children is deep and they know God and see God work each day. Thank you. Get to know people more personally before you leave comments like this. @@KJ-lb4tj

    I just discovered your channel this morning and I am so encouraged by what you’re sharing on here! Just last night I was talking about how I feel like God is calling me to work more with my hands, and to serve my family and those around me and to lean on him day by day, and moment by moment for guidance. I really struggle sometimes because I do deal with chronic illness and pain so adjusting to motherhood and being a full-time homemaker and also trying to manage my own health can be so overwhelming. But I also know that there is sin, and that I can be lazy at times and selfish with my energy. so I really appreciate everything that you said in this video and the way you articulated things. I love that you Are encouraging people to reflect and look at scripture which leads to healthy conviction, but you’re doing it in a way that is encouraging and uplifting. So, thank you for what you were doing here! So happy I found your channel.

      Thank you for your kind words! Yes, you definitely have to give yourself grace, especially with a chronic illness. We all can fall into the trap of laziness. You are not alone! You are doing great things! God is our strength, so lean on Him during all the pain. You are a rockstar!

    Love your let it snow mug! ❄ I started making multiple types of cookies at Christmas time in 2017 to give as gifts to family, friends, and neighbors. I'm hoping I can do that this Sunday. I think you pronounced focaccia correctly, at least that's how I do anyway. I just love your stoneware bowls! Because of you I have been on the hunt on FB marketplace for some. I did find one I loved, but waited too long and someone else snatched it up. But I'm glad I found the style that I like the most so I can look for it again.
    I love what you said that we choose how to serve. It's wonderful that we can pick the tasks that we want to get done and accomplished during the day.
    My daughter has tons of stuff in her bed too most days!
    Same here! I would love to just relax after dinner, but I always thank myself the next morning when I get everything cleaned up and close the kitchen down. I try to at least do the bare minimum every night, but other nights I do some extra cleaning.

      My husband bought me the set from Lehmans. He didn't realize how big they were going to be. I use the 10 inch ones or the 12 inch.
      www.lehmans.com/product/10-heritage-blue-stripe-stoneware-mixing-bowl/
      I actually bought vintage ones, and then he pointed out they could have lead paint, so I took them back. It was a totally bummer! I really love these though! I also find a ton of Marketplace that is snatched up quick. I'm glad I'm not the only one with kid beds full of stuff. 😄 I also will keep in mind, "at least just do the bare minimum." I always feel like it has to be all or nothing, so that's a good reminder to me.

      westmanacademyhomeschool.com/2023/12/15/homemaking-with-a-servant-heart/ See if it works now. I feel like every time I add it to the description box it never works. Merry Christmas to you as well! God bless you!
      3/4 cup warm water
      2 teaspoons yeast
      2 tablespoons olive oil
      1 tablespoon sugar
      1 teaspoon rosemary
      2 cups flour
      Butter for greasing 7×11 baking dish
      Mix yeast, 1 teaspoon of sugar, and water together.
      In a medium sized bowl, combine olive oil, sugar, salt, and the yeast mixture.
      Add flour, and knead until thoroughly combined.
      Your dough does not need to be smooth. It is okay if it is bumpy, and it should be fairly sticky.
      After Dough Has Risen
      Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
      Rub additional olive oil lightly on top of the risen dough. Sprinkle with additional rosemary and salt.
      Use your fingers to create “indents” into the bread, gently pushing the dough down.
      Bake dough for 15-18 minutes (17 minutes is what I did).

    Hi, Kelsey!
    I've been MIA, but for good reasons.😄 Organizing, baking, visting, decorating for Christmas... And I have to say that I love the idea of gifting a beautiful box of home baked cookies to your friends in church. It's the start of a beautiful tradition!
    It's so precious to see you cooking with your children and teaching them how to bake. It reminds me of how it would be like in the old days, when most women were at home and had their little ones with them all day, instead of in kindergardens. Things were harder, I'm sure, but I'm also sure that people were happier.😊
    I pray to God that I can grow a servant's heart, because sometimes I have the "woe is me" mentality or I just have too much and have to get rid of clutter (wich is one of my goals for next year). Like you said, we have to build a community in wich we can lift each other up and help each other with prayer, godly advice, home cleaning advice, children caring advice...
    We, christians, have to open our hearts and live a CHRIST centered life and not a ME centered life, right? Do everything to HIS glory!
    You said you have difficulties at the end of the day, after dinner, because you are (understandibly) exausted, so I'll pray for you and I'm sure that the other christian women that comment here, will be doing the same.😉
    "And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people." Ephesians 6:18
    To finish, and because I know you ususally make delicious meals and breads, I wanted to leave an ice cream desert (because why wouldn't we eat ice cream in the Winter?😁) that I learned yesterday and tried today. It is DELICIOUS and so easy to make.
    Just beat together 1 can (13.4 Oz) of dulce de leche, 1 package of heavy whipping cream (16 Oz), a pinch of salt and a splash of vanilla. Whisk it in the mixer for a few minutes until well blended and put it in a tupperware in the freezer for a few hours, before serving. It is delicious, very creamy and can be done in 5 minutes.
    Have a blessed day and a Merry Christmas, friend!❤🙏🎄

      So you don't need an ice cream machine, just a mixer? I've never made homemade ice cream. I love this! Thank you so much for sharing, and for praying for me. I will be praying for you too! I also love that verse from Ephesians! I also have "woe is me mentality", so I totally understand. You have been busy, and it seems like you are doing a lot of great things for others! That is very inspiring to me. 😁 I appreciate all your sweet comments and advice! Have a Merry Christmas!

    • @nunoepaulasantos7839
      @nunoepaulasantos7839 6 місяців тому

      Yes, you just have to mix it with a hand mixer or a kitchenaid et voilá! It's so creamy and we ate the last of it today and it didn't had ice cristals. This one is a keeper and I'm going to make it again soon!🤤
      Your kids will love it and the best part is that it is easy to make and you can make it in advance. If you make it, let me know how it went. 😉
      Thank you for your prayers and God bless!🥰

    So I notice you don’t have a tv? Just can’t imagine not being able to at least get the news. Also what does your husband do for a living? I find this fascinating. You’re sort of like a modern day Amish yet not. I’ve subscribed . You go girl! I have so many questions though.

    • @faithfulacresfarmhouse

      We have a TV, it is in our basement. We don't use it except for special occasions and sports my husband wants to watch. My kids do watch TV on Tuesdays. Our family personally does not listen or watch the news. Modern day Amish sounds appropriate 😄. Ask any questions you want! 🙃 And my husband just started his first year as a family med doctor.

    Hi Kelsey! Maybe if you have time one day, can you please make a video or post a list of the regular ingredients you keep in your pantry, that you use to cook from scratch? I'm trying to re-stock my kitchen with mostly only healthy ingredients and I love your recipes. I'm going to try my best to cook from scratch for my children. I would love to see what you buy on a regular basis that you always keep on hand!
    Thank you! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

      @@faithfulacresfarmhouse that's the key right? 😅 My kids start getting really independent on school work around 10 years old. We do morning basket they all stay for whatever book I've decided we're working on and the gospel of the day and then they branch out and do their own thing and I make rounds to see if they need help. My oldest is taking college courses! We use the good and the beautiful and literature. We are also are a part of a homeschool co-op. Hope that helps!
