It doesn't just happen on property taxes. I've had errors and clients have had errors on federal tax returns where IRS demand a higher tax claiming (fill in the blank). Some people will just pay it because they are afraid of the IRS but the bill should never be automatically paid. These lawsuits often take millions of tax payer dollars away from schools when its the actions of officials that are the cause while the tax payers have absolutely no involvement other than to pay for the compensation. An honest man would see compensation as repayment of any costs and the firing of those involved rather than seek thousands or millions of tax payer dollars he is in no way entitled to.

@@texasunderground8478 well you can see these old men being greedy and incompetent so maybe it’s time for a change of perspective.
@@jerrelCbanks I agree. Old white men. Let's say that again. Old. White. Men.
Ageist.
If it wasn't old dudes, it would be young dudes. Do you have any proof it would be any different? I have seen plenty of idiot young people, plenty of corrupt young politicians, plenty of bad everywhere. Why is "these old guys" any different from the hordes of others that could be just as bad or worse?
"I need to look into that'. No problem, I'll wait right here while you do that.
Spot. ON!
He says he'll look into it and then shortly after says he's had a whole office looking into it. Time to fire all of them.
The real injustice is that property tax even exists.
Property tax is used for things like education and Roads and other things. At least that's what it's supposed to be used for.
@@williamwinder5011 I live in Michigan and the roads say this is a lie
@@williamwinder5011 perhaps but those taxes could easily be drawn from other sources that arent property that somebody OWNS. Since they can take your property for not paying then you truly do not ever own it.
@@jr8260 agreed
@Mo Fuggar I agree
This is an example of what media should do. Hold people in a position of authority or power accountable. NOT be a mouthpiece for these people
I wonder how many times they have done this and people paid?
ikr? scary.
File Federal mail fraud charges as well blackmail and practicing slavery.
They are legally exempt from liability in their official duties. :(
All these people in power are immune from lawsuits, even Judges can violate your rights as they please. They are super citizens and need to be executed. All the attorneys made it so they can game the system and then have zero accountability.
That does have the appearance of mail fraud. 🤔
We used to tar and feather tax collectors for such behavior.
John Nixon Yep
*Moloko* _Bring it back... Bring it back..._
Absolutely, he needs to be made an example of. There is no other way to teach these arrogant pricks
Property tax is immoral in the first place, it shouldn't even be a thing. Abolish property tax and this would not be an issue. We out number them....How about everyone that has purchased a home just refuse to pay the property tax all at the same time? If they send men with guns (police) to evict us....we fight back with deadly force....Shelter is a necessity! The Government has no right to put a forever lien on our homes.
These are the type of people who are in charge. Scary.
When I was a kid, I thought ALL adults knew what they were doing.
Now that I'm an adult myself, I know that MOST adults are idiots that are just PRETENDING to know what they're doing.
@@ianbattles7290 the most dangerous idiot is the one who thinks he's right.
Lazy , indifferent bureaucrat.
These are the kind of people WE keep putting in charge. Scary.
That clown should be removed asap and his incompetent "staff" fired on the spot.
I had moved into a new apartment and had trouble starting gas service. I was told there was a balance owed by the previous tenants and I had to track the down for payment. I replied I don't work as a private investigator. I had a contact of a higher up told her what happened. She got my gas service started the next day...
That's ridiculous. Once, when I moved into a new place the local Cable Company wouldn't initially establish service because the last resident owed them money. Fortunately, they were semi-reasonable and told me I had to bring my lease down to the office to show I was a new resident and not the person who owed them money which I did and they established service after that. Demanding that the new resident get the money owed by the last is absurd and should be illegal.
@@lq7777 It probably is an unenforceable request, but most people don't know their rights, so they end up paying just to make the problem go away.
Outrageous. The person in charge is completey clueless, and also so arrogant that he has not overseen a proper investigation into the facts of the case even when he knew the news correspondent would be interviewing him about it. How many other cases has he and that office treated in the same manner? Please do not re-elect him!
He is dead he won't be getting reelected. He died of Lung Cancer/ COVID in Feb 2021.
The Stevens are owed some compensation for their troubles.
As soon as he started getting the threatening calls, he should’ve contacted a lawyer and sued.
I hope he turned around and sued the county.

No, be the bigger person and drop it.
The county lawyers may reach out and try to settle without you lifting a finger.
You also just want to let it go now that it is resolved and just move on.

"You have to pay someone else´s taxes and then go and find them to ask for your money back, so that we don´t have to do our job."
"And this is where I wet myself laughing increduously."
No that was when my mouth flew open. The letter has his signature on it and to tell the public it was a mistake? That poor homeowner was being scammed and that tax collector I Hope was fired.
Common sense is obviously not a requirement of the job.
You mean common decency.
That too!
I think Ron Wright's bow tie is too tight, cutting off oxygen to his brain.
I think it's not his Bowtie. It's his belt and his brains are a little lower that his neck.
Ron would be in the hospital and I would be in jail
This is a long known phenomenon. Take a look at the Jargon file definition for "suit" for an example:
suit: n
1. Ugly and uncomfortable ‘business clothing’ often worn by non-hackers. Invariably worn with a ‘tie’, a strangulation device that partially cuts off the blood supply to the brain. It is thought that this explains much about the behavior of suit-wearers. Compare droid.
2. A person who habitually wears suits, as distinct from a techie or hacker. See pointy-haired, burble, management, Stupids, SNAFU principle, PHB, and brain-damaged.
What brain
Sadly, I once worked for a municipality and you'd be stunned at how many employees were probably unfit to ring up your order at McDonalds. I had to explain the budget to the assistant town manager - whose main job was the budget review. I am not lying when I tell you she had a post it note on her computer that said "fractions - big number goes on the bottom".
this bureaucrat gives me the impression that he can do no wrong, no matter who is at fault.
Most of them are like that.
Don’t worry, it will get much worse! Not looking forward to it, but we will get what we are asking for!
This man needs to be compensated no taxes for a year.
They need to sue the hell out of mr bowtie.
Imagine how many other people go through similar situations without the media assistance.
This is the results of incompetent people not knowing how to do their job and not admitting that they made a mistake and refusing to correct it.
Looks like there are too many rats scurrying around like they own the place.
More proof that one never really OWNS their own home. We are all long-term renters.
Can of Beans yes you are 💯 on that, we need to fight to abolish property taxes
@Ilove It when you’re ignorant there are millions of other taxes that could replace it, millions are wasted daily which could be used instead of property tax
and you have to ask where is the rep. i think we fought a revolution about the same thing. if you look at the fees and taxes you have to pay these days it would take you awhile to read the list. pretty soon Gov. will tax you for the air you breathe .
Take the money out of the politicians pockets. The wages they earn are ridiculous. No political position should earn more than the average income of those they represent, as in the population of the area not the corporations that really pull their strings.
But putting this restriction on their income would encourage them to increase the incomes in all homes.
There was a time these positions did not pay well but a home was provided and the community helped support these people because they supported the community, its long passed and likely never to be seen again.
@Ilove It when you’re ignorant sales taxes, sin taxes, proportional taxes, consumption taxes, excise taxes, and progressive taxes. Shall I go on?
Ronald Reagan once said "government is not the ANSWER to the problem, government IS the problem."

Funny considering Ron Wright is a Republican and now elected to congress as a replublican ...
They were just too embarrassed to admit they made a mistake. Humility is is important.
