Unwanted body hair, known as hirsutism, can have various underlying causes. It is important to note that some degree of hair growth is normal for both men and women. However, excessive or unwanted hair growth in certain areas may be attributed to the following factors:
    1. Identify Hormonal Imbalances & then - seek to balance these hormonal imbalances that cause hirsutism.
Hormonal imbalances are a common cause of unwanted body hair. Elevated levels of androgens (male hormones) such as testosterone can lead to hirsutism. Conditions such as polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), adrenal gland disorders, and certain ovarian or adrenal tumors can contribute to hormonal imbalances and subsequently excessive hair growth.
    2. Test and Balance Cortisol Levels (stress hormone)
Cortisol is a hormone produced by the adrenal glands in response to stress. It plays a crucial role in regulating various bodily functions, including metabolism, immune response, and stress response. However, excessive levels of cortisol in the body, as seen in conditions such as Cushing's syndrome, can lead to a range of symptoms, including hirsutism.

In the context of cortisol and hirsutism, elevated cortisol levels can contribute to the development of hirsutism. Cortisol stimulates the production of androgens, which are male hormones. Androgens can lead to the development of coarse, dark hair growth in areas such as the face, chest, back, and abdomen in women. In conditions where cortisol levels are abnormally high, it can disrupt the hormonal balance, leading to increased androgen production and subsequent hirsutism.
    3. Address Insulin Resistance & Glucose Resistance
Insulin resistance and glucose resistance are metabolic conditions that can be associated with hirsutism, the excessive growth of hair in women. Insulin is a hormone produced by the pancreas that helps regulate blood sugar levels by allowing cells to absorb glucose for energy. In insulin resistance, the body's cells become less responsive to the effects of insulin, leading to elevated blood sugar levels. Glucose resistance refers to a decreased ability of tissues to utilize glucose effectively. Both conditions can contribute to hormonal imbalances that result in hirsutism.
Elevated insulin levels can stimulate the production of androgens, such as testosterone, in the ovaries and adrenal glands. Androgens are male hormones that can promote the growth of coarse, dark hair in a male-pattern distribution in women. This can manifest as hirsutism, particularly in areas such as the face, chest, abdomen, and back.
    4. Manage Androgens
Androgen management is a key aspect of addressing hirsutism, the excessive growth of hair in women. Androgens are male hormones that are also present in females, but in lower levels. In cases of hirsutism, there is an overproduction or increased sensitivity to androgens, which can lead to the development of unwanted hair growth in a male-pattern distribution. Managing androgen levels can help reduce the severity of hirsutism and improve the associated symptoms.
There are several approaches to androgen management for hirsutism. Lifestyle modifications such as maintaining a healthy weight, regular exercise, and a balanced diet can contribute to androgen management by promoting hormone balance and reducing insulin resistance, which can be associated with increased androgen levels.
    5. Deploy Stress Management Tactics
Stress management plays a significant role in addressing hirsutism, the excessive growth of hair in women. Chronic stress can disrupt hormonal balance and contribute to the development or worsening of hirsutism symptoms. Managing stress through various techniques, such as relaxation exercises, mindfulness practices, regular physical activity, and adequate sleep, can help reduce cortisol levels and promote hormonal balance.

You mentioned at the end of this video natural supplements that you can take no matter where your hormonal levels are at or if you happen to be dealing with PCOS or not, but you did not mention the names of these supplements. What are the supplements that you were referring?

I've had hair growing on my chin since I was 18. It was only 1 or 2. At about 27 it doubled and I'm now 38 and it's quadrupled.

Excessive hair growth, especially on the chin, can sometimes be associated with conditions like polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) or hormonal imbalances. If you're concerned about this, it might be a good idea to consult with me or dermatologist. I can help determine the underlying cause and discuss potential treatment options, which could include hormonal therapies or procedures like laser hair removal. It's always best to seek professional advice for your specific situation.

I'm not able to provide specific pricing for medical tests, as they can vary greatly depending on your location, the type of tests needed, and where you choose to get them done. However, I understand your concerns about PCOS, insulin resistance, and glucose intolerance.
Given your situation, I recommend looking into community health clinics, low-cost healthcare options, or programs that offer financial assistance for medical testing. Many healthcare facilities offer sliding scale fees based on income, which can make testing more affordable.
It's crucial to address your health concerns, and I hope you can find a cost-effective way to access the necessary tests and medical guidance. Your well-being is essential, especially in challenging circumstances like the one you described. Take care!

Is Cortisol Levels (stress hormone) the only hormone test? And can you take that test while on birth control and antidepressants?

    • @NaturalHealthResources
      @NaturalHealthResources  4 місяці тому +1

Cortisol levels, often referred to as the "stress hormone," are indeed one type of hormone test, but there are many other hormone tests available to assess different aspects of hormonal balance. These tests may include evaluations of thyroid hormones, sex hormones (such as estrogen and testosterone), insulin, and more, depending on your specific symptoms and concerns.
As for whether you can take a cortisol test while on birth control and antidepressants, generally, these medications should not significantly interfere with cortisol testing.
