Yeah those batteries are actually capacitors, fairly large power capability ones at that. And if you had hit those with a dremmel you might not be talking to us today.
Sorry, Those "Batteries" are actually Capacitors: the 4 tall capacitors have the writing: "63v 1000uf" the 1 smaller capacitor has the writing of "--v 680uf" (could not see the writing clearly)
You need to be careful around power supplies and capacitors. While the homepod is unplugged, you still likely have latent charge in there that could be potentially dangerous. You need to be taking safety measures, especially around your kid, but more importantly you need to note and explain the safety measures you take so that people watching don’t go opening up power supplies or tearing down electronics that are plugged in.

Honestly I was about to mention that exact same thing about the power supply mini capacitors.
@@npn2463 I'm afraid that this is not common knowledge. Pretty smart individuals with no knowledge about electronics might just fall victim to such a ting.
Those 'Little batteries' are capacitors ;) They do store smaller charges more quickly than regular batteries, so I guess that's a pass on a technicality :P
tipoomaster yea. I was like what batteries, are they talking about the capacitors? Haha. They do however charge and discharge like batteries but at much faster rate so hey 🤷🏽♂️
Luke Gutman Capicitors: takes a charge from an external source to charge and discharge rapidly Batteries: deplete gradually and generate their own power Batteries are like capacitors, but they DEFINITELY are not the same. If you replace a battery with a capacitor it won’t work, and if you replace a capacitor with a battery it will not work
Aaron Productions technically you can turn a capacitor into a battery that only needs to run for a extremely short time with the proper circuits. A lot of dashcams for cars have either a battery or a capacitor depending on the one you get. The capacitor model is better because it handles extreme heat better so the camera can shutdown properly when power is lost instead of having a battery fail over time and corrupt the video files.
I can give you some answers, I am not an Apple technician or designer, but I am plenty knowledgeable when it comes to electronics: Those "batteries" are actually capacitors; electronic components that provide temporary storage of electricity and are used to filter out power fluctuations and distortions in the audio signals. The bottom most board with the "batteries" is the power supply board. The ring board below the subwoofer is most likely what contains the microphones and sound sensors The top panel most likely contains the "brains" and the capacitive interface (black glossy circle with Siri animation) on top. You are correct in calling the speakers at the very bottom tweeters; high-frequency speakers I cannot fault you for not having this knowledge, but I hope that I may have helped you to learn a little more about electronics, or at least the construction and inner workings of the HomePod. Otherwise, a great video! The first deep dive into the HomePod.
This is a retarder video, that speaker is designed and engineered to be opened like every other device , and he destroyed in the worst possible way... i i was waiting him to get shocked by the main capacitor in the power supply. 😂😂😂
Check out the iFixit guide, they had to cut it in half themselves. While there is a threaded ring, it's all glued in pretty well. Now they did go about everything else in the stupidest way imaginable though.
TCDREAM Ehh more like 2025-2030 when we increased AGI (Artificial General Intelligence which means AI is as smart as us) to ASI (Artificial Super Intelligence, smatter than humans). At latest, I’d say 2050
Tc Not really. When you refer to the AI built inside of the HomePod, you’re referring to Siri which as we all know is on hundreds of thousands of servers and billions of phones. So no, relatively speaking, the AI built inside the HomePod, is not dead.
Those "batteries" are capacitors and they can stop your heart they need to be discharged before handling them if you dont wanna risk your life and your son's dont do that
Apple probably sprayed clear plastic over the bare wires. It usually does that. All the best electronics companies do that. I noticed that Samsung does not always do it
Maybe Apple have added bleeder resistors for safety... Maybe the capacitor terminals are coated with a non-conductive material... It doesn't really matter though! They're high voltage capacitors and SHOULD be discharged safely! That's a rule of thumb everyone should use in every situation! They've just used a rotary tool/Dremel to cut through the middle of the speaker. They could have damaged the capacitors. They probably would have shorted if hit, but that doesn't make it anymore safe to touch. There's nothing wrong with notifying them about health and safety issues, especially in situations like this where they think high voltage capacitors are simple batteries. While they can be charged and hold a charge much like batteries, they can also hold a charge strong enough to kill you! I too disliked watching him grind and hack while the speaker were powered on. I seriously fear that their lack of safety eventually will hit them!
Firstly like nal rafi said those 'batteries' where capacitors and could kill you if you touch or damage them, secondly WHY IS IT STILL PLUGGED IN!? if you or any of your tools touch any of the power sections it won't end well. Hopefully when you took the board out you unplug it first.

Andrewx8 88 ??? New Amazon echos can go for 120 easy. This HomePod is new as well. The woofer is twice as large, three times the tweeters, and way more technical sound configuration. If it was only a stereo yeah under 100 but its obviously not just a stereo. Is it a bit overpriced? Yes. Is it worth more than an echo? Yeah honestly since it’s specs show that it’s better
Andrewx8 88 it’s obvious you hate apple and such, but the amount of technology in the pod and the fact that it has more speakers and bigger ones is the reason for it costing so much. Like I said, it’s overpriced and should be like 200-250 and will be probably by the end of the year

TheDragonCraft9 do you need healing?
TheDragonCraft9 its a pleasure to view
So for $350 all you get is a 30 dollar subwoofer, a case for it, and Siri? Why do people still buy from apple again?
Andrewx8 88 yeah it should be 200-250
Retwix YT NO. It should be $100 or lower. Amazon echo is basically the same thing but costs $50
Retwix YT Check amazon right now, its $85. If you want, you could get the Amazon dot for $40, which is practically the same thing.
Andrewx8 88 it’s obvious you hate apple and such, but the amount of technology in the pod and the fact that it has more speakers and bigger ones is the reason for it costing so much. Like I said, it’s overpriced and should be like 200-250 and will be probably by the end of the year
"my hand are black" CALM DOWN MAN
9:50 That's the power supply Lincoln. Didn't you see the main cable? It came into the middle and then it got regulated somehow and that's what powers the Apple Home Pods
