    You need to be careful around power supplies and capacitors. While the homepod is unplugged, you still likely have latent charge in there that could be potentially dangerous.
    You need to be taking safety measures, especially around your kid, but more importantly you need to note and explain the safety measures you take so that people watching don’t go opening up power supplies or tearing down electronics that are plugged in.

    •  6 років тому +6

      Honestly I was about to mention that exact same thing about the power supply mini capacitors.

      Batteries are like capacitors, but they DEFINITELY are not the same. If you replace a battery with a capacitor it won’t work, and if you replace a capacitor with a battery it will not work

    • @sekazi
      @sekazi 6 років тому

      Aaron Productions technically you can turn a capacitor into a battery that only needs to run for a extremely short time with the proper circuits. A lot of dashcams for cars have either a battery or a capacitor depending on the one you get. The capacitor model is better because it handles extreme heat better so the camera can shutdown properly when power is lost instead of having a battery fail over time and corrupt the video files.

    I can give you some answers, I am not an Apple technician or designer, but I am plenty knowledgeable when it comes to electronics:
    Those "batteries" are actually capacitors; electronic components that provide temporary storage of electricity and are used to filter out power fluctuations and distortions in the audio signals.
    The bottom most board with the "batteries" is the power supply board.
    The ring board below the subwoofer is most likely what contains the microphones and sound sensors
    The top panel most likely contains the "brains" and the capacitive interface (black glossy circle with Siri animation) on top.
    You are correct in calling the speakers at the very bottom tweeters; high-frequency speakers
    I cannot fault you for not having this knowledge, but I hope that I may have helped you to learn a little more about electronics, or at least the construction and inner workings of the HomePod. Otherwise, a great video! The first deep dive into the HomePod.

      Maybe Apple have added bleeder resistors for safety... Maybe the capacitor terminals are coated with a non-conductive material...
      It doesn't really matter though! They're high voltage capacitors and SHOULD be discharged safely! That's a rule of thumb everyone should use in every situation!
      They've just used a rotary tool/Dremel to cut through the middle of the speaker. They could have damaged the capacitors. They probably would have shorted if hit, but that doesn't make it anymore safe to touch.
      There's nothing wrong with notifying them about health and safety issues, especially in situations like this where they think high voltage capacitors are simple batteries. While they can be charged and hold a charge much like batteries, they can also hold a charge strong enough to kill you!
      I too disliked watching him grind and hack while the speaker were powered on. I seriously fear that their lack of safety eventually will hit them!

    An excellently engineered piece of tech. No wonder they are so neatly packed. Apple gives a lot of attention to detail and didn't want anyone tinkering with their tech. That's why it's got no visible user- serviceable screws, (you will find them embedded deep within, but not outside)

    • @Xiwter
      @Xiwter 6 років тому +1

      Andrewx8 88 ??? New Amazon echos can go for 120 easy. This HomePod is new as well. The woofer is twice as large, three times the tweeters, and way more technical sound configuration. If it was only a stereo yeah under 100 but its obviously not just a stereo. Is it a bit overpriced? Yes. Is it worth more than an echo? Yeah honestly since it’s specs show that it’s better

    • @andrewx8888
      @andrewx8888 6 років тому

    • @Xiwter
      @Xiwter 6 років тому +1

      Andrewx8 88 it’s obvious you hate apple and such, but the amount of technology in the pod and the fact that it has more speakers and bigger ones is the reason for it costing so much. Like I said, it’s overpriced and should be like 200-250 and will be probably by the end of the year
