So incredible to see how tech has evolved over the past 36 years. This IBM 5150 is iconic.
The Computer Kit is the first computer anyone can make and
code. First, you put the pieces together, like LEGO. Then you power on
your computer and learn to code by making games, music, apps and art. Step by step for beginners of all ages.

It's nice to see your interest in vintage tech. It is terrible to see a perfectly working vintage monitor destroyed by intentionally smashing it. These monitors are increasingly hard to find in great shape and working condition.

As an enthusiast for old computers and monitors, this is heartbreaking. This is why much older audiences prefer channels such as The 8-Bit Guy, since when he shows the insides of computers, he does a professional tear down which is ACTUALLY educational

Actually, this was an old IBM monochrome (tealish green colored) display made for old IBM computers (Such as the IBM 5150, as showcased in the video). If you did have a 16 color monitor at the time, then it would be only capable of showing 16 colors.
      Both are VGA (640×480) monitors.
You can find lots of these.

This was not the first Personal Computer, in fact it wasn't IBM's first personal computer. It was their 5th personal computer, depending how you count. It actually doesn't matter, as being first was never why the IBM PC had such a large industry influence, nor was it part of its legendary status, it's just worth pointing out for the misinformed. The reason why it was so critical for the industry is that while almost every other computer company lost their stranglehold on the market, withered into debt, and died, the PC just kept evolving and becoming more powerful.

IBM DOS is similar to MS DOS.
Microsoft Disk Operating System is Microsoft's version of DOS. It is less optimized for common IBM hardware, but more compatible with more unique PCs.
IBM Disk Operating System is IBM's version of DOS. It is (obviously) optimized for common IBM hardware, but not really much for more unique PCs.

Apparently you learn a lot by watching smashed and almost unrecognisable components. His followers get pumped and in the end they even think they "did a science".

Well i guess half of the commenters who all agree it was dumb to smash a vintage monitor are "haters". Maybe you should be the one who dosen't go on UA-cam. You are the minority here.

How dare you destroy such an antique computer! Also, it is extremely foolish to crack open an old monitor. Poisonous gases are released into the room. If I had an old computer, I'd take it apart, not destroy it!

CRTs have vacuum, not gas. However, the phosphorous covering the screen are not good for the lungs. In a nutshell, let natural selection do its work.

Could of just taken it apart like a normal human instead of destroying whats basically an rare collectible antique but I personally dont think you guys got the IQ to even accomplish that.
