Treating surface rust and restoring the factory finish to the chassis on the Lotus Elan M100

You can't buy new chassis so you'd better look after the one you've got. Here we sand and treat some surface rust, mix a topcoat to colour match the factory original, deftly apply it with all the skill of a drunken neurosurgeon and apply chassis wax to the internal cavities.

I currently own a S2 model that I believe has a galvanised chassis. What is recommended re doing similar repairs Thanks.
