Great Vid, great job Jess, here as my son asked me to watch, (he was binge watching your vids) he passed his test with 4 minors in WW Thursday after it was cancelled in December due to bad weather. Was worried as his instructor wasn’t available for the date, so he had to take test in a car he’d only had 1 lesson in. Good luck to you all with upcoming tests. Little tip, my son swore me to secrecy to not tell ANYONE when his test was, it really took the pressure off. Ps, the tests have changed a lot since my day 😅.
well done that was great.. I have my test next month and my last 2 lessons have been awful :( self doubt and nerves are kicking in and im making mistakes i would never normally do. My mock test yesterday was 3 serious and 5 minors :(
I've seen lots of mock tests where people have had serious faults and have then passed their test with 1 minor. Dont obsess. Start telling yourself you know how to drive and you will pass.
My test is in 3 days (technically 2 cause it’s 2am lol) and I feel like I keep forgetting to do stuff which I always did every time and I’m especially worried cause my test centre is in a very hilly area with loads of idiot drivers so I just hope on the day all goes well
Good luck Queenie, I have my test next month too....only 2 and a bit weeks....also making silly mistakes myself! Self doubt is the worst! YOU CAN DO IT! wake up every day and say to yourself "I can do it!" Let me know how u get on! All the best!!
5:41 Is coasting for short periods a fault? 8:37 There is a right turn there. You can see the right arrow on the road. 19:03 I was driving there today and I swear I saw that exact same lorry I think at the same place 22:49 What should you do?
First and foremost, I am a US driver with 40 years of experience. While my knowledge of the UK traffic code is minimal, my experience and technical expertise are applicable. 5:41 Coasting is not about duration. While coasting on a horizontal road creates no danger, the pupil was coasting downhill. This can become dangerous for many known reasons. However, due to her ignorance of technical details, which is quite common in the UK, she was clueless. All she had to do was let the clutch up regardless of the gear engaged. Instead, she shifted into third gear and kept the clutch down. To my mind, that is a serious fault as such driving might lead to detrimental consequences under different circumstances. Of course, that's not her fault but her instructor's, who was negligent and failed to iron out this kink. 8:37 No, this is not a right turn. The road makes a right curve.
11:13 I thought "ah look at that beautiful GT 63" and right after you said “She literally picked up the most expensive car on the street" :D lulz. Great driving and great commentary!
It's different for everyone to be honest, the average though, is around 40 hours. But that also depends on whether you do any private driving with family or friends. Have you started learning yet?
When going down a hill in first gear and you have the clutch down like she did , if you just lifted the clutch without obviously accelerating as you’re going down a hill would you stall? I’m new to driving sorry. Unsure how she’d have avoided coasting in that situation
An intresting thing in Sweden is that you must give way to busses if they indicate to turn into the road from a bus stop, there was a moment in the begining where the buss indicated to turn away from the bus stop and Jess did go on the rightside as the bus was signaling. In Sweden below 30 mph (around 50km/h) you have to give way to the bus. This in Sweden could result in potentially a serious fault, depending on how harsh you judge. Any rules about that in UK? Curious to know.
So cool! Thanks for the insight from Sweden!! It actually does say in the uk Highway Code that you should give way to buses if it’s safe to do so! It’s not very well enforced over here though because no one wants to sit behind a slow bus that keeps stopping 🤦♂️
are you allowed to drive on top of a broken cycle lane and non broken line even though the road is wide enough ?? Is 1 meter away from the curb is your normal driving position??
my test is booked for december and so far i’ve done about 16 hours so far but i still wouldn’t say i’m a confident driver (especially roundabouts and downshifting to second gear for turns when i’m at higher speeds, and manoeuvres.. and i haven’t been on dual carriageways yet either lol) but bc uni’s starting, my lessons have basc halved from what would have been another 17 hours to only about 10 hours of driving lessons until my test… but i don’t want to cancel it because i probably won’t manage to get another one for the next 6 months. with 10 hours lessons and a lot of practice with my dad (atleast 20 hours), is that reasonable enough to keep my december test date
There's time if you want to find it! If you can practice with your dad as well that might be ok but you'd rather do too much practice and pass than not enough and fail and have to do it again 🙂
Usually it’s recommended to do 40 hours with an instructor and at least 20 hours private practice but the more you can get the better you’ll be at driving
@@DrivingSchoolTV so do you think it’s wiser to cancel the december test and just carry on until i’m test ready with my instructor?? i’m not hugely rushed to pass, i just ideally want to before my theory runs out (sept 2022, so i have a year).. or shall i just see how it goes with the test on december even if i don’t feel ready then… it’s just the huge backlog of tests worrying me 😭

If there are cars parked on both sides of the road but the road is wide enough for 2 cars to go, is it okay if I drive slightly on the right hand side and go back to my lane when there is a car coming?
You should always be aiming to keep a safe distance from parked cars for the speed that you’re doing. Around 2M at 20 mph. When a car is oncoming you’d get closer but slow down too. It’s fine to drive in the middle if it’s a particularly narrow road

The way Francis shouted “stop” 😂😂 when I had an emergency stop it was the quietest stop ever 😂
You know me Niki I like to be dramatic about things 😂
@@DrivingSchoolTV 😂😂😂literally … initially I liked the talk through and no evaluation at the end but after thought is, it would be nice if there is some sort of evaluation at the end
Nice one I think that’s what I’ll do. A much shorter chat after the test. There’s a lot of people who want it back!
@@DrivingSchoolTV yea but it is beneficial to talk throughout too and then just a summary I guess at the end

Jess is a proper chick 🐣😍
When going down a hill in first gear and you have the clutch down like she did , if you just lifted the clutch without obviously accelerating as you’re going down a hill would you stall?
I’m new to driving sorry. Unsure how she’d have avoided coasting in that situation
