Fascinating and shocking and sobering. Any baseball fan knows that the amount of players needing "the surgery" this year was staggering. Dr. James Andrews said that by the time players get to the major leagues, "the cake is baked". Meaning so much damage has already been done to their ligaments that there is very little they can do to prevent major surgery at that point. And that doesn't even cover concussions... Matt has a good point, we really need to rethink youth sports in America.

This is unfortunately very true. Especially when he talks about children being forced to play one sport at such a young age. This heavily increases their chance for overuse injuries

Sad to say, I feel like the situation with the youth with 5 concussions is a common situation as many parents and coaches ignore the signs because they don't want to miss the opportunity for their child to be an elite player.

This is why Basketball and Football players in college should receive economical benefits for their likeness vs the current policy that allows millions of dollars going into their pockets. College scholarships our year to year and in which the power dynamics has the upper hand. These two major sports has a separate set of policy and rules that excludes them. Why our these two sports in college a different policy? They our the biggest money makers and receive all the benefits which providers their family with a greater economical outcome over time. If someone buys them a meal and this can lead to losing a scholarship etc.............
