Watching her play makes me wanna get back to playing ..... jesus ..... i'm blown away by her playing.
perfect choise of cymbals, even quintuplets ... really astonishing mastering of all those chops and breaks and loose, relaxed at the same time
It's always refreshing to see someone play with such creativity and technicality. The fact that she decided to focus on quintuplets gives the song a underlying feel. She is being creative within some of those boundaries that few drummers would ever even consider doing, and you can tell she did her research on the drums. This is what happens when you do your homework and just let the drumming speak for itself.

I keep watching this one over and over again. This one to me is the most serious created composition that she has done. If you watch from beginning to end, you can tell she is working through it and she doesn't get happy until she has completed. I can't get enough, the more I watch her, the more I want.

There's one thing that always amazes me when ever I listen to songs put together by drummers and that's timing and arrangement. It's always exciting yet doesn't fall out of place at any point. I love how I can at times find it hard to follow the rhythm of the drums yet it all makes sense at the same time.
Probably doesn't make a whole lot of sense, but basically what I'm saying is I love it, and keep it up.
I was listening to her smooth7 video and the comments section was arguing over if it was septuplets, even or odd time, etc. I used to consider myself a drummer. Once upon a time I might have tried to figure it all out. At this point, whatever. It's amazing. She's taking me on a wild and crazy ride but she knows what she's doing and I trust her to bring me back alive.
I keep coming back to this video because the "chorus" type section makes me feel like I'm floating and today, floating is exactly what I need to do. Thank you Anika, please keep on keeping on!

I just bought the EP. I had to; this is so good it hurts. Feel, precision, chops, odd time-signatures - they're all there. It's everything I want from a drummer, and from music in general! i was a high school/college band backbeat guy. Then I became a commercial Fisherman in Alaska, and didnt have a kit for 2 decades. I finally got a clue, and bought a roland portable kit. Your style is inspiring. But i truly wish to thank you for inspiring another person. My 9 year old Daughter was naturally fascinated by the kit and all its sounds, and she was entertained by beating on it for the sake of the fun noise.
I showed her your videos. Now she sits with me and will intensely focus on rudiments and metronome exercises for up to an hour. (then the pounding for entertainments sake resumes, but with much better time.) Her favorite , btw, is the piece you played prior to your drumeo quintuplets lesson

I hope this doesn't seem rude to other female drummers, but it's been a rare occasion for me to find a female drummer who has a natural, smooth feel and a technical understanding of what is being played. It's perhaps even more rare to find any drummer these days who understands the sound sources (tuning, cymbal selection etc). Needless to say, today is the rare occasion to find a new (to me) female drummer who outshines so many other drummer regardless of gender. Subscribed, and waiting for more!

This is great. I love quintuplet grooves. Anika is easily the best female drummer I've ever seen. She's one of the best drummers I've seen period. Great with dynamics and with syncopation.

Every time I listen to this I can just close my eyes and drift off to heaven. Excellent groove/fill ideas. I wish that I could hear the drums better, particularly the individual tones of the toms so I could really crush on the melody of the drums. Excited to follow your career/progress.
Absolutely BRILLIANT! Just a total joy to listen too. My fave part is at 0:55 secs...brilliant groovy little riff and nice and simple back-beat on this section. It makes the rest of the song sit nicely together. Would love to hear this on a soundtrack to a film. The other parts are just fantastic...very inspired Anika...wishing you well in your career.
