It's crazy to see how much he's doing on his steering wheel WHILE racing his eyes out.
Harry Verolme the ability of these guys to multitask while driving 300+ kph, is remarkable.
I always get a kick out of the long radio convos, as if driving wasn't hard enough
TickTak77 it's like trying to have a casual conversation while wrestling with a 30ft anaconda.

Hugo, you mean 2012.. That brake bias change was just splendid.
Harry Verolme do you know what? I always think the same thing when watching onboards. The concentration alone is enough to lose 10 pounds in a 2hour race
I think after seeing how bottas compares to Hamilton, we all realise how good rosberg actually was.
BKDltd and how much better hamilton is than any of these
mordlord You realise that you are one of the reasons why there are so many Hamilton haters?
Hea Mees i dont care about that
I think bottas has so much potential...and i feel like its only a matter of time he catches up. He's in a new team and in a car possibly not tuned to his driving style completely. Lets see as season goes..and I just hope both Merc and Ferrari wont go with the main driver support driver thing until 1st half is over..!
Bottas is much younger than lewis, at least give him some time before you compare them
Once upon a time, when the second driver refused to be a wingman...
....and gets the title. :-)
There was no #2 driver. Rosberg was actually leading the WDC.
between rosberg and lewis there was no number 1 or 2 in that time dude,,,learn that .
You say that like he was a second driver, maybe you dont like merc or lewis because its pretty obvious if you look back at those seasons
When was Rosberg considered a #2 driver?

Mercedes that year were in a league of their own. After the SC restart on L47, they pulled out a 20second gap to P3, in 10 laps. That is monstrous
@Peet von Moltke norris should be at 4 or 5 every race but noo
Their engine was also turned down significantly so that they could then turn it up later if needed and not have the fia try to nullify their huge advantage!

But last year everyone was getting triggered about the Merc dominance and complaining....
ya well in spain 2016 it was clearly lewi's fait, he went for a gas that didn't exist! And if Nico wasn't at the inside he May have crashed i to the other barrier
Are you drunk? Clearly nico's fault and I like nico and lewis equally. Nico completely cut off Lewis who was gaining wayyy quicker.
ya Nico destroyed Lewis in Monza 2016 if you remember you idiot Hamilton fangay.
It's a shame that Rosberg took "the easy way out" after his championship. I so would have liked them to battle it out one more "real" time. Rosberg really left on the pinnacle of his performance. Well, it's his decision, but, that way, he will never be the world champion of hearts like Michael Schumacher was here in Germany. Schumacher has a legendary status, while Rosberg was kind of the cheeky guy from Monaco, who accidentally won a championship one time, and then chickened out.
2:05 cheeky double shift for traction
Short shift we say doing that before a corner😅
Making use of the torque
Yeah...less acceleration = better grip on corner exit.
every driver does that.. :D
As a Lewis fan..I really miss this German lad. I really do..he was a never giving up hard competitor
He always made it...fun. :'(
He was also quite fast. Not much in racecraft. But then again, if you are fast enough to get yourself a seat with a top team, you don’t need as much race craft
kudason wdym racecraft? He literally one a race in 2012 when merc was still a midfield team
why did he never recognize his Finnish heritage?
do you still miss him after 5 years
Its crazy how slow these cars look now! and to think that the mercs were 2+ seconds a lap faster than anything else that race!
I thought they were slowing down for a safety car ....
nope that's actually how slow they were.
Actually 2014 cars were kinda slow, they were around 1.5 sec slower than 2015 cars which were around 1 sec slower than the 2016 cars
and 2017 cars are around 4 seconds faster than 2016 cars
The fastest race lap in 2014 there was 1:37:020, in 2016 it was 1.34.482. I'm expecting a lap in the 1:31s on sunday.

Note that towards the end of the race the battle occurred but with Hamilton on older and slower medium tyres while Rosberg was on younger, faster softs, yet the Brit still won. What an incredible drive.
d c I’m guessing you didn’t watch the race in 2014? Lewis and Nico battled again towards the end of the race as a safety car allowed Nico to close right up and have the faster tyres on. Lewis still kept him behind for the win
@@bigroncoleman11
Yeh, I know.
Only because they put Rosberg on a different strategy to Lewis because he was challenging him too much in the first stint. They did not want their drivers to battle.
This isn't even the best part of this classic race. This is just the quick scrap they had about 1/3 into the race, not the final 10 laps where Hamilton, with the slower Medium tyres, kept Rosberg behind him with some of the best displays of defensive driving I've ever seen.
Just realized that 😳😳
@Peet von Moltke And what leclerc did in monza last year was fine ?
@Peet von Moltke That would still be fair racing today as he's taking the racing line. If you maintain racing line you won't have to worry about who's on or off the track specially on the outside. That's racing 101. If he did that to Rosberg on the inside he'd have been penalized. Hence also why Verstappen didn't get a penalty in Austria 2019. It's hard but fair racing. The Leclerc incident where he pushed Hamilton off the track Hamilton had the racing line while Leclerc was on the inside.
@Peet von Moltke always the sus names with no profile picture and old accounts smh
"classic"
This video is so intense. When he's going down the straight with the car shaking and rocks hitting the car, it gives me goosebumps
To be honest Rosberg was never anywhere near Hamiltons ability, he even said that himself. But he never gave up, you've got to respect him for that. Sadly I see Hamilton walking all over Bottas, I know it's still early.
Rosberg never said anything like that , lol. Give us a source to your wild claim.
Just gonna say, don't disregard Bottas just yet. We're only 10% into the season.
Facchetti Ali "I've been racing him forever and he's always just managed to edge me out and get the title - even when we were small in go-karts," said Rosberg
I remember him saying that , but that doesn't mean he was never anywhere near Hamilton's ability as you put it.
Judging by this video i'd say your comment was total drivel. I will admit that overall I'd say Hamilton was the better driver, but there was never much in it.
In this case both cars performing 100% and Rosberg was completely equal to him. Unfortunately however every time Rosberg actually won a race Hamilton fans conjured up a new excuse to how he lost.
Atleast wait for 10 years to use the word 'Classic'
I feel old AF!
Well, here we are. It's 2024.
This has to be one of the best battles not since the F1 hybrid Era began but since Formula 1 started. cut backs late braking. This was exciting to watch and I'm glad I saw it live :)
No still the No.1 battle is Prost vs Senna
One of the greatest races of all time. Really tight battle for the win. That's what I love about F1.
Snippy couldn't agree more, it was just what the sport needed after two consecutive races of one Mercedes clearing off into the distance
Snippy Good race but one of the best all time?
Nowhere near the best of all time
That's what you love but the sport rarely delivers it.
Only this race and Hungary were great, the rest was trash that season, Canada was Ok too
I remember watching this duel, had me on my toes! It’s crazy to think Lewis only still had only 1 title back in 2014 (before he won in Abu Dhabi that year), these past 8 years have flown by so quick! Also the W05 was stunning in my opinion 😍
Mercedes W11 and W15 are also stunning like W05.
Who's here after Leclerc-Verstappen Bahrain 2022?
Now here after Verstappen/Norris Austria 2024. And Hamilton's win at Silverstone after 3 Long Years.
Only reason this race isn't held as one of the greatest of all time by fans is because its part of the hybrid era which everyone loves to hate. It had wheel to wheel action through multiple corners lap and lap, wasn't just a nice battle that lasted 2 corners like we usually see it was none stop action. By far my favourite race I've ever seen and Lewis on more used harder tires fending off Nico for such a long time was just insane.
started watching in 07 but i have watched a rerun of it. My favourite thing in racing is cars side by side through multiple corners, that race had lots of great overtakes but is was 1 corner and done, still amazing but i prefer the other more.
I'm so tired of nearly EVERY SINGLE PERSON complaining about the V6 Hybrids.
It’s the best dry weather race I’ve seen since watching since 1999. It’s the only GP I have a full race copy of. Amazing race. 👍

The amount of people judging Lewis by his lifestyle is quite entertaining.
H White Just some petty closet racists. They cant show their true feelings so they attack his 'personality' 😄
people hate success, jealousy is something people rarely admit to. remember how many people hated Vettel when he was winning all the time. I can almost guarantee you those same people love him now.
Bassmint I hated Vettel due to the finger when he won a race, now though, he's come out of his shell and has a good sense of humour, that and his ability are the reasons i like him.
What's wrong with his lifestyle? it doesn't fit the profile? who cares if they don't like his urban lifestyle, he's hardly a troublemaker is he?
Really? The finger never bothered me. What I don't like are his incredibly gay celebrations trying to speak italian, sounding like a little kid, and crashing into other drivers on purpose because of supposed "brake checking" as if brake checking is illegal in the first place.
Nico's gloves & surroundings look like they are from Tron !
Tron LEGACY movie?
That may have been the first race where we could see the potential of this specific generation of cars, it's a shame only one team lived up to the expectations, the racing would have been amazing with other team involved.
The top three races of the hybrid era:
1. This one
2. 2015 United States GP
3. 2015 Hungarian GP
2016 Brazilian GP
2016 Australian Grand prix? 2014 Canadian grand prix?
+Tumbi Mtika The reason I don't rate the 2016 Brazilian GP that high is because most of the laps were run under the SC. Yes, the small number of laps that were spent for racing featured good quality of racing, but still.
+Tyler Bickerstaf Yes, the 2016 Australian GP was good, but still, not a match for the three above-mentioned races, and the 2014 Canadian GP was one of the best races of its season, but again not a much for the three above.
TheJokerit19 TheUnited States GP is one the best.
Lewy is a formidable opponent. The amount of times he just said (to himself) "am down, but not out, am down but not out... I'll catch him on the next corner!"

this was the modern classic that F1 needed after Australia and Malaysia that year, a genuine fight for the lead from start to finish, epic =D
Everytime I think Nico has it Lewis comes shooting out and is gone in a flash once again.
100x more interesting than Verstappen and Perez
the one thing i love about formula 1 is the corners, when you catch up on someone, overtake and out of the corner the same you just passed is passing you !
This was the race that reminded me why I love F1
I remember this live like it was yesterday! One of the most entertaining wheel to wheel battles I've seen in the hybrid era
The sound of the hybrid engine is so good to listen to
Nico was owned in this race. He pitted for brand new faster tyres after safety car and still could not beat Lewis on old tyres. Wow!
Rosberg was a great racer, and he got some cracking pole positions. Not as naturally gifted but he was a grafter.
But Button was better than Rosberg
The change of Brake Bias every turn is insane
Rosberg liked to fidget with the brake bias to get extra time out of the car which I found pretty cool to watch.
This video really highlights the sizeable gap between Lewis and Nico's driving abilities. Great watch.

Wow, the 2014 V6 sounds exceptionally dreadful. They weren't that bad in 2015, 2016, and 2017.

They really did sound bad. But im really liking the 2018/2019 sounds. Iv been to Spa in 2018 and yeah they sound nice.
That 2014 v6 turbo hybrid noise sounds like a scary movie to me compared to the newer improved engine five years later.
Sounds like a bag of nails vibrating
They actually had more character in 2014, they sounded very humdrum in the next years.
In 4 years time, this will be a real classic.
Rosberg most underrated ever he beat 14 championships
Exactly, no other driver on the grid could ever say that. Perhaps you could say Vettel, but Lewis had only 1 championship at that time..... and yeah the Mercedes had no chance against the RedBull in that era. But you're right.
Rosberg's first year at Mercedes was brilliant and he picked up 3 third places. I mean come on , he was super quick.
This is how you break mentally your opponent, find a way to stay ahead of him despite the fact that you re slower , and let him wonder how the f.... can i beat this guy if not now that i m faster......???
Lol hilarious comment, maybe he should've tried to be a little quicker instead of trying to '' breaking him mentally '' you can lose the title when you're barely a few hundreths quicker than your opponent.
@@acc6748 sometimes you cannot be faster, then you try other things ,anyone who ever has been even one time on a track knows that, all the others who find it hilarious can go back to their video games and amuse themselves.

To the person who uploads/edits these videos: Could you please release an extended version of this one? There was so much more between these two that I'd like to see in onboard form.
Wished I could have seen this live, cause that was an epic battle
When the hybrid turbo era began, and Rosberg then Hamilton disappeared into the distance in the first two races, this battle was exactly what the sport needed. A no holds battle for first place, with close yet clean racing from start to finish. I have followed the sport since Damon Hill became world champion in 1996, very few races have been like this, a close battle between the top two in the same car, terrific entertainment and extremely exciting!
nice to see when they still raced with sportsmanship and respect to one another, so sad their relationship on and off track became so bad by the end of 2016.
still don't get how hamilton was able to get that switchback done at 2:25. absolutely unbelievable
If you look closely Hamilton never tried to block Rosberg by covering the inside of the the first corner, why? Because that´s the dirty part of the track, he gave that space to Rosberg so he would go to the inside, get his tires dirty and have less traction, plus he is forced to brake late to make the manouver stick. By always using the exterior (the less dirty part of the track), he has better traction plus better exit of that corner, with a well executed switchback.
@@The_Curious_Cat yeah, if you watch this from another perspective you can see that hamilton always moves to the outside completely right before the braking point which gives him the extra traction out of turn 1 and nico doesn't do that although he would have had the chance. especially at the second move at the start finish straight you see lewis forcing nico to take an even tighter line but making sure he still moves over to make the counter stick at turn 3. but as i said that switchback at turn 3 is so remarkable because nico doesn't actually do anything wrong: he coveres the inside, hits the brakingpoint perfectly and gets back on the ideal line but lewis just accelerates so good out of that corner, it's out of this world. i remember that nico had to back out at the same corner several times on the outside because lewis didn't give him enough room for the switchback and forced him to take the outsideline until he ran out of tarmac. i assume lewis braked earlier and purposely stayed alongside nico longer before turning in to give him the outside as his only option. i'm not a lewis fanboy at all, i'm actually a nico fan tbh but lewis is by far the smartest wheel to wheel racer in f1. the way he thinks ahead is simply outstanding.
i wish we had seen more of these battles between those two but i think after nico fucked up at spa wheel to wheel racing has never been the same between them. back then they were even allowed to go on different strategies.
@@alxndrp0608 Yep, totally agree with you, pity they had so much bad blood between them. If they stayed friends and respectful of eachother we would still have these awesome battles. But since they are both racers, it was kind of inevitable for them to go sour after the first few clashes. :/
I've been in an out the past few years but from what I've seen I feel like Rosberg while during his time in Mercedes gave Lewis a solid challenge. He seemed to want the win as much as Lewis
It's crazy that this race will turn 10 soon
Fair play to Lewis he did well to hold the charging Nico. I just remember an interview with Lewis and he said; for Nico to be battling him like that he had put himself into the incorrect turbo setting they agreed on before the race. Whatever it was it made for a fantastic race.
