I loved this discussion concerning the meanings behind the terms used in the Bible. It makes a lot of sense. What came to mind was the way early man might have imagined the power of the Creator by observing the qualities of animals, such as the vision of the eagle's eye, or the swiftness of the antelope, or the beauty of the peacock, etc. This might also be the reasoning behind the ancient Egyptians imaging the gods as people with animal heads. This also happened in India.
I always try to connect the thoughts of Swedenborg with anything Baha'u'llah referred to, and I found a quote here from Baha'u'llah pertaining to ancient humanity:
"And now regarding thy question, “How is it that no records are to be found concerning the Prophets that have preceded Adam, the Father of Mankind, or of the kings that lived in the days of those Prophets?” Know thou that the absence of any reference to them is no proof that they did not actually exist. That no records concerning them are now available should be attributed to their extreme remoteness, as well as to the vast changes which the earth hath undergone since their time.
Moreover such forms and modes of writing as are now current amongst men were unknown to the generations that were before Adam. There was even a time when men were wholly ignorant of the art of writing, and had adopted a system entirely different from the one which they now use. For a proper exposition of this an elaborate explanation would be required."
I don't know if Baha'u'llah later gave a more elaborate explanation or not. Baha'u'llah wrote thousands of letters responding to questions and we do not have all of them translated yet. But they are all preserved in the Holy Land, and committees are constantly working on translations. But, as Dr. Rose knows well, translating can be tedious if your intent is to get the very best translation.

‘Glad I came across this video here! Kudos for sharing this!! I myself am agnostic in my perspectives these days. Too much has and is happening in this world these days to be affixed to any “belief” that is heavily influenced by religious doctrines or even those that refute religion/spiritual viewpoint (atheistic). So I find myself being tossed to & fro’ with watching & listening & reading so many different perspectives through videos, TV itself, books, etc. I may be agnostic, but I was raised a Christian, studied Mormonism a bit, dabbled with Buddhism, Gnosticism, and even occultic possibilities. I search for truth through all of this. But I also am a stern realist with a believe nothing, question everything, trust no one nature.

We honor everyone's journey in arriving at some point of faith (or not), Rich. Looks like you have been very open-minded in your quest. We humans can prove neither that there IS or IS NOT a God or an afterlife, so it comes down to a personal choice about what to believe. That's called spiritual freedom.
So which ideas help you in your life? Which ones help you feel more peaceful about your sojourn on this earth? Which ones inspire you to be a good citizen of this world? Or whatever question you'd like.
We're glad to know you found something interesting in this conversation, and we wish blessings for you on your continued spiritual journey. Thanks for checking in with us!

This is such an interesting take Swedenborg has. I’ve just began reading the bible and Septuagint and to compare how I’m understanding things and Swedenborg’s interpretation is just wild, WILD. Swedenborg is such a unique and fascinating person. I can understand why so many Christian denominations come down hard on Swedenborg as some kind of heretic, he’s different, undeniably a genius and very, very humble. I really enjoyed this upload, it’s mad stuff and could have run twice as long. Thanks for Sharing.

This was an amazing and informative discussion - I feel like I have a better grasp of the transition from the first humans to where we are and how the Bible is the bridge between them. I appreciated the language analogy, turning language into a written form with grammar and rules.
You spoke of the beauty of letting the Word wash over you and teach you in your spirit. My background, fundamentalist inerrancy with a touch of legalism and control, has left me 'Bible-shy'. I'm working on that, but right now, just the idea of sitting down for 'Quiet Time' (part of the discipline trappings and control) makes me anxious.
Swedenborgianism has been the peace my soul was seeking with God. Everything I have heard from Off the Left Eye has shot straight to my heart and brought healing. Now, we just need a New Life church in the San Antonio area!

Beautiful, and the last speech was so on point. I can only reiterate that which I have said before. God is all that exists. God is existence. Nothing exists that is not god.
All words (written or spoken) come from the one source. This is "I" talking to "I." Of course, there is no sense in talking to the self. You would need to know what you were going to say to yourself in order to say it. So it would be pointless. The final chapter of the story of creation has been given, but in order to understand it as it does not currently make sense (as pointed out above). You need to acquire a new skill. It is not a coincidence that there is a new skill being learnt all over the world. The skill is making sense of nonsense a book by Raymond Moody. The answer to why I is talking to I is amazing. ❤️🙏Ramanamma Who? Author and 21st-century confirmationist.

Hey guys i’m just here asking for help. My grandparents and family all stem from a strong christian root with belief in another coming and the strong rules and messages in the bible. However I long for them to see the real hidden truth within but I don’t know how to give them revelation. I know that deep within them there is enough to have the saved as they accepted the good and true faith however I long for them to see this deeper meaning and understanding of God. It’s like teaching an old dog new tricks per se. I really wish to show them this because I know it will improve their faith and love 10 fold

    • @offTheLeftEye
      @offTheLeftEye  5 днів тому

Sounds like a challenge, Deshawn. I guess we first need to accept that everyone is in spiritual freedom and gets to act on it in whatever way seems best to them. Perhaps the most effective way to approach it is just to share with them whatever it is that really moves YOUR heart about the ideas you want them to know, what kind of difference these ideas make in YOUR life. Blessings to you. It is lovely to know that they are committed to goodness and truth as they understand it -- they love the Lord and the Lord loves them!

The nation of Isreal was developed in the womb of Egypt. But once they left that home to go to their 'promised' land, they had to fight for every inch of it. If God promised to the jews, why did they have to fight for it?

    • @harlanlang6556
