I love the FNS 9c, that's why I bought one. The grips made my hand sore for a few days, but...now they are used to it. The grips are rough but they're like that for a reason.
P320 . . for me . . I've several pistols and deep into the hobby and especially striker fired pistols. After long term searching . . . The P320 platform has been what I've invested. My compact 9mm . . Ive added the OD green med grip module. Subcompact fde grip module. The Apex trigger. Next . . the X Carry . . configuration. . . I like it's mag well and additional mag capacity. Will invest in a new slide milled for the Romeo optics. One gun . . one serialized gun and all the options. For me, the P320 is the best overall pistol at any price in the "striker" fired pistol on the planet. Sig . . IMO . . the P320 platform . . excellence at a whole new level. Every time I shoot it . . . it's like "WOW" . . . accurate . . smooth. A thing of beauty! One pistol . . a carry, range pistol, competition, home defense. Doesn't get any better!
Great review! One thing, the mag release was a intentional on behalf of LE input. Previous models, officers where having a problem with the mag coming out when gripping their weapons.
I appreciate the comparison.
i would go FN.
They make top notch everything, are and have been one of our militarty's top m4 maker for years.
Have the FNS40......LOVE IT.
Smooth,great safety,mag release is sweet.
i was told the cops are to blame for the stiff mag button.
FN LE line reps were told that the mags were ejecting to easy if hand bumped button.
i carry an XD MOD l l .45acp.
Hate it! Too thick ,and handle is super short with 8 rnd mag.
Great vid.
Swapping out the mag release with the full size FNS one solves the hard to push issue.
The FNS 9c will be my next gun. I like the aggressive grip texture. I live in south Georgia on the edge of a swamp so the humidity is ridiculous. I love my shield but the grip leaves something to be desired. I sold my m&p 9c back to the guy I bought it from (bought it when he was broke with the agreement that he could buy it back when he was able) so I'm in the market for another double stack. I really like the feel of the FN.
I bought the fns9 when it first came out. I now own the compact and long slide as well. And just got my 509 tactical to complete my family of 509’s. Your making a great choice
Great video and very informative. I have been a Sig fan for many years. I just recently bought the FNS-9 and was so happy with it I purchased another FN, the FNS-40. Both manufacturers make great pistols. I will stick with my DA/SA Sigs and go with the FN for my striker fired for now. BTW PSA has the FNS-40 for $359 right now (with night sights), a steal on a great firearm.
I EDC a FNS 9c. love it. FN doesn't seem to have marketed it well, but it a fantastic firearm. My wife carried a XD9sc. I like how can breakdown the FNS slide like a glock unlike the XD which has roll pins that need to be pushed out. I highly recommend the FNS as a substitute for a G26.
+leanhard1987 FNH didn't market them at all it seems and people seem to be loving their striker fired pistols.
I would buy one if it came in 45 :(
45 Guys are cool! I have an FNS 9 but I LOVE shooting 45 acp! My Hi Point 45 is accurate as hell and 100% after a ~ 150 Break in I have had No Malfunctions but a carry piece IT AIN'T!!!
The Shield in 45 is kinda sexy and if the XDS' singles stacks are anything like the XD 45 dbl's I'm down!
leanhard1987 the FN is probably the best made pistol on the planet and one of my personal favorites but I do like the sigs trigger better .
I had the full size fns and it was great. the grip didn't bother me one bit and I pretty much kept the flat backstrap on it. the fn is totally an underdog when it comes to striker fired guns
You can get the full size FN FNS 40 for $342 shipped or $355 shipped from a couple online dealers right now. Not a bad deal at all imo.
Brownells and Top Gun Supply has the medium grip assembly for the P320 Subcompact.
Almost bought a 320... luckily I saw the accidental discharge issue before I wasted my money on it. I'll stick with my Glock 26 and bought a Kimber micro 9 Raptor to satisfy my itch.
That P320 is a great pistol you should probably reconsider plus they already took care of that problem they upgraded the trigger to a flatter thin one I'm going with the p320 m17 bravo the fns40c is great too shot it at the range and about to get both these upcoming holidays hopefully it's some good deals on them
One other thing, you can order the full-size magazine release for the compact.
Where is this range and what are the other options, like other distances? Do you have to join, Eg, is it a membership place/club? Again, a good video. Very thorough.
Oh, I just subscribed tonight.
On the FNS 9c mag release just put a drop a CLP and it will make it much better after I did mine comes out with ease.
Good review, but something people should keep in mind is that your hand will adapt to things you would never thought possible. I shoot both left and right-handed with a double jointed thumb on my left hand and some mobility issues with my right wrist as a result of breaking it many years ago. As such, even though they look identical, every gun I have feels completely different. When I first picked up my FNS 9c, it felt great in my left hand and horrible in my right with the flush magazine. That protrusion you mentioned put too much torque on my pinkie and it was very uncomfortable (actually, it hurt).
That said, I learned a long time ago your hands will adapt. After just a couple of days of dry practice, the pinkie adapted and it never hurt again and remains one of the most comfortable guns I've owned. The same thing happened with both hands regarding the grip texture. It was biting my hands a little more than I'd like for a day or two, but then it never bothered me again. It's like developing calluses on your fingers playing guitar, your skin will adapt, and it will do so very quickly, but you need to give it some time. That's why people should never read too much into people's ergonomic preference. We all know everyone is different, but people also forget how flexible we are once you give yourself a chance to warm up to a gun.
You can get the Rail for the subcompact in the medium frames and large but not the small. But they still all come with the rounded trigger guard though .
In this case, if I could have only one of them, I would go with FN
I wonder how many would consider to change the pistol frame since they ask for a new frame as much as a new gun.
Very informative. Thanks!
+James Joseph No problem. Thank you
Think I'm leaning more towards the FNS. Finally got my permit, today as a matter of fact, and I like more of the features on the FNS. Extended grip, rail, manual safety until I'm comfortable without using it. And it's American made. But I'll have to shoot it and see. Can't wait. Thanks again for your great gun reviews, certainly help in my decisions on what firearms to try.
I know this is 6 months old, but the P320 is manufactured in Exeter, New Hampshire - so they are both US made
Anthony D I have both of them and the only reason I'd pick FN is because it's cheaper , otherwise it's a wash . They're both great.
I would first say go with what u are comfortable with but I would strongly advise you to stay away from the manual safety. Just don't play with your firearm and know it's condition at all times. I almost went with the sr9 for my first pistol because of the safety. Luckily I was talked out of it and went with glock
I picked the p320 because I also carry the compact version. So magazines from it can be used on the subcompact.
I own both SIG and FNH pistols and haven't found 1 issue with either firearm Prices are the same , both have military contracts Overall good platforms for an edc. With the issue you are having on the FN compacts rough grip. You. An hit it with a light sandpaper and it will help or just get wrap around grips. I just bought a Springfield xd 40 mod 2 with the gripzone grips and it feels amazing. I want to see a long video of all of the reputable manufacturers that have compact and subcompact. Glock , SIG , hK , Springfield , smith &Wesson All same size , caliber price range
I grabbed my Glock 17 out of my console a couple of days ago. My hand somehow toched the mag release and I didn't grab it firmly at all. The mag dropped and laned on the ground after bouncing away from me. It made me uncomfortable and made me think. My thought are FN really thinks thing through and knowing this will be most conceal carried in a myriad of.places on the body and many different types of holsters and considering the fact that reloading in civilian self defense situations very rare FN designed the mag release for.security over ease of dropping the mag. The larger dury version has an easier mag release as those will be mostly carried in open holsters by law enforcement.
I just bought my first handgun today, and it was the FN FNS-9C. I handled about a dozen at the store and this one just felt like an extension of my arm. I've been learning about it and safety and laws and had a concert to go to after I bought it so I haven't shot it yet but am really excited. I haven't really seen any cons to it in my opinion but I'm guessing you're just a SIG guy...lol
Do you carry it?
How does the Ruger American 9 stack up against the P320 and FNS9? Have you compared the new Ruger American Compact against these two?
I have both the P320 SC and the FNS9C. I like the P320SC it is easy to conceal carry. I switched the sights out and put in true-glow. I shot pretty good groups with it. However, I prefer the FNS9C. I like the trigger better and shoot tighter groups with it. I liked it so much I also got a FNS 9 alongside for competitions
Tomorrow I will upgrade the slide stop and takedown lever with the revised ones. Later, I am planning on getting the Grayguns Carry trigger package to upgrade an already great trigger. This trigger package is for defensive carry trigger cleanup. It's a little pricey but it is similar to the Haley Strategic Skimmer Trigger as it gets a once over by a respected Sig armorer with Sig parts as the Skimmer trigger has Glock parts.
The new sig p320s now have a new slimmer takedown lever for 2nd gen. pistols. They also have a different slide stop.
In the video the FNS9C had a noticeably lighter recoil and thats expected from the dramatically lower bore access on the FN compared to the top heavy Sig.
Great job on the review and you've really stepped up the video quality on this one! What happened to your video of TWD this week? I really was enjoying your take on the episodes.
+Hammer357 Sweet thanks bro. Ive been working on this one for awhile now. Ill catch up this week. Im glad to see some of yall like our eps of TWD. Thanks bro
I have the sig P320 subcompact, excellent pistol and comfortable to shoot, very accurate
Another great test from *Hegshot87*, these guns are interesting, I'm not sure which one I would get.I like the fact you have a trigger gage now....btw, you & the Mrs. are getting very good with your vids, the editing and spilt screen are nice improvs. Thanks for doing such detailed tests, I know this takes a lot of time & $.
Agreed man. These guys are doing great!
+Ted Cregger Thanks man that means alot!
+Nathan Franklin Thanks bro!
Thank you. Good vid. Like you, I think I would prefer the Sig, but both are good. I just wish Sig would offer a mag with the finger extension like the FNS has. I hate leaving my little finger hanging, but not a deal breaker. Thanks again for a good informative vid.
+John Whitley Thanks man!
You need to focus on your front sight tip a little more. Great vid good review.
Thanks for a great review I've been looking at getting a subcompact 9 and looked at both these pistols today really liked them both kinda leaning towards the fns9 I love the factory sights with that big front sight but really like the looks and feel of the sig so hard now days so many great pistols and rifles on today's market for a great price even the g26 is getting considered by me to but I already know I'll need sights and a trigger or the old trigger job for it always liked sigs tho and never owned one what do u think thanks for any help.
Joseph Hammett I have both of these pistols because I couldn't have just one of them ,They are really outstanding in their own way. I prefer the sig trigger but the FN handles better in tactical shooting IMO . Can't go wrong with either of them and yes they're better than an out of the box glock 26.
I agree with Mike Ross. I have both as well and they are outstanding! I fully agree on the FN sights. I love the large front dot.
If you use your left thump or index finger on the slide release on the the FNS you will have no problems
What camera are you using?
And for some reason you decided to use a way bigger target for the sig every time, and then the much smaller target on the right for the FNS.
+Chad Thomas Lol you got me. I rigged the whole thing to down a gun that I purchased...makes sense
Sig P320 is definitely a winner in my book. Feel, reliability, cleaning, simplicity! I have the full size, shot the compact and sub-compact (my least favorite) to compare. all work very well. My wife, who has small hands, had no trouble handling the full size P320 nor the compact/carry models. She is a new shooter and the P320 is excellent to use as a learning firearm as well. I will be getting a compact in the future. Another great comparison.
+EJ Karate Thanks man.
mine is a compact on the sig and the trigger gaurd is sqaure.
I have the fns9 love it
I have a P320 sub, rail and it's nice.
Although this vid was what it was meant to be, how do you compare theM&P 9c in the mix? Have you abandoned the M&P?
+john price No Im a fan of the M&P for sure but I like these better. Out of the box these 2 are great without any upgrades
What about the vp9sk vs the p320 subcompact?
FNS recommends to clean a new gun before is fired for the first time. is that absolutely necessary?. I did it but just want to know.
TheRainman904 thats a pretty fuckin dumb question if you ask me lol. If the manufacturer tells you to, its obviously necessary enough. Its like buying a new dirt bike and them saying, top it off with oil and you ask. Is that really necessary lol.
I like the P320, but it's overpriced for a plastic gun with no spectacular features. I really like the FNS C and its trigger, I could should dead center of target with that, and that was with .40 ammo.
It has very good features.
P320 all day everyday. Have both but carry the 320 on and off duty... Took a while to find and get the SC med rail grip but finally got 1. Just wish the SC came in 357sig. but can use the compact slide on the SC grip so not all that bad....
Nicely Done !!
+Gerry K Thank you!
Sig is coming out with a P320 competition version (Designed by Bruce Gray)
Sig P320 is a winner.. you can abuse the grip, you can replace it in different colors, sizes, etc....
this must be the vid you mentioned thanks heg
+Victor Smith Yeah man np
Case in point large target for the Sig tiny target for the Fns 9c
A non bladed or articulating trigger is probably why the SIG trigger felt better.
I have been trying to get p320 subcompact any idea of a good place or site that has them in stock thanks.
Stoddard's (out of Atlanta)
Top gun supply
T
Sig's E2 grips get uncomfortable after a while. I solve the problem by cutting a couple of inches of bicycle inner tube and stretching it over the grips as a sleeve. Something to consider for the FNS. The grips really are OVERLY aggressive.
Clever idea...never thought of that, and true the grip is a bit aggressive.
Probably fine with some shooters or with gloves but for prolonged shooting the 320 is better.
You say the sig is 1.1 at widest point. Are you referring to just the body of the gun? The take down lever that looks pretty huge and sticks out pretty good
+john price Yeah thats what they have listed on Sigs website. I think there is an updated take down lever out there
+john price Updated as in smaller
I like the sig, but I do wonder why they didn’t lower the slide height to avoid some of the criticism that always comes when the weapon is compared to Glock 17-19... seems to me the FNS is a little better balanced and really awesome looking. I do like the modularity of the sig. I hope this kind of modular system becomes common among other manufacturers. The sig seems highly customizable because of the modular design. Correct me if I’m wrong but couldn’t anyone build a lower or upper for the Sig because the licensing is for the internals??
I have an FNS 40c and I love it. I just don't care for striker fired Sig Sauer guns.
Thanks for the review bro. The P320 line is my favorite; full size, compact, sub, luv 'em all.
I have shot limited (10 rounds each) Walther PPQ M2, Sig P320 both Compact and Carry, and HK VP9 & FNS9C My favorite out of those 5 Sig P320 Carry. Between Walther & HK Flip a coin. FNS9C is nice but not for me. Will either of these rip my G17 out of my hands NO , but it wold make a great addition to carry if i had the extra money.
Great video as usual and I totally agree with you on the Sig P320sc. The only thing I did to mine was sending the slide to Robar for their NP3 finish.
+mag318 Thanks!
Don't you have to be an "operator" to carry a FN?
Lol..... Knew you had to grab that FNS again.. Nice bud!
+Spec-Operator 4 Yes sir I couldn't resist after seeing yours
HK P30SK for the win in my opinion brother. Great vid! Cheers.
Lol. I still gotta get my hands on one
+Hegshot87 hand you get your hands on one, no turning back. 10+1 cap, which some people don't like. But the gun is soooo good.
I am not a big fan of compact, but I would buy those guns.
Hey man can you review the FN 509?
If I come across someone who has one then yeah. Otherwise it's not on my hot list
any suggestions on holsters for the fns9c i just ordered one
boomee78 I got the N8 squared for mine
I have found that the fns9 be it the compact or the long slide or standard fit well in glock 17/19 holsters
When the heck is fn going to come out with a single stack hammer or striker
Idk but I hope they will eventually
Sig P320-My next gun! Can't wait. oh and........
FNS-9 Compact Semi Auto Pistol 9mm Luger 3.6" Barrel 17 Rounds No
Manual Safety Fixed 3-Dot Sights Polymer Frame Black Finish 66719 at Cheaper than dirt $499.
Sig p320 $502.00 at Buds, so just for a quick look, they are the same price..
not the same price. Paid 425 for my 4" fns 9 and 420 for my fns 9c and thats in hand after transfer and everything. Some places kept the price up after the 100$ price drop
Walther PPS would be a good option too..
Are these weapons +P rated?
TXLionHeart the FN is a beast and of the highest quality of any pistol made, so I know it is.
mine came with a medium grip
I couldn't find the small
+chris kozma Weird. Most come with the small
I'm missing half my trigger finger and middle finger on shooting hand. so the smaller the grip the better. love this sig though! keep up the good videos!
Great review, I bought the P320 Compact when it first came out. I really really wanted to love this gun. But I just couldn't warm up to the way it points. It's kinda like the inverse of the Glock. Glocks handle angle makes you adjust for the upward tilt of the slide, the P320's angle makes you adjust for a downward tilt of the slide. I find handguns that point "true" are much more enjoyable for me to shoot and it is easier for me to be consistently more accurate. Guns like the P99, PPQ, & M&P, which I now currently own, or the VP9 which I've shot many times, are guns you don't have to a just your wrist to be on target. I owned the P320 for about a year trying to talk myself into liking it, but I finally sold it and bought a PPS 9 Mod2, which I do love.
+Donald Moses Thanks man. Thats the great thing about having so many options. There is something for everyone
Dude your camera-lady was literally dodging shell casings...lol. I have the p320 subcompact and I love it. But I carry the p2022.
+Andre Barbee Haha yeah she was
Dude - what the hell are you talking about (in the trigger discussion) - you shot tighter groups with FNS
Great vid. These are the two that I have been pondering for some time now. Unfortunately the two ranges I use have neither one to rent to try out. I think I'm leaning to the Sig.
+SRQ Gunner Thanks man
If you have a medium grip assembly on the P320 Subcompact, it is more comparable to the G26 Gen 4 which is a subcompact. P320 Compact may still be a better comparison.
I dont go off of what manufacturers name them. I go off of what makes sense. They both have 12 rounds and almost the same size so although Sig calls it one thing and Fn says something else the fact remains they are almost identical in size
+Hegshot87 You will absolutely love the medium P320 Subcompact grip assembly. It makes the pistol feel more solid and balanced. It also makes it closer to the feel of my G26 Gen 4 in terms of grip size alignment.
Oh I dont doubt it. I have benn wanting one for a long time
+Hegshot87 Hope you weren't offended by my earlier comment, I have always considered pistols with 10-12 rounds to be subcompacts whereas compacts have 15 rounds and full size have 17-19 rounds. I love your videos as they are packed with so much knowledge and information.
What's the diff between FNS and FNX?
+John Kennedy Fns is striker fired
Fnx is hammer fired DA/SA
Hegshot87 lol can't believe I didn't notice that. Thanks!
I would choose the FN all day over the Sig. I have one of those crappy Sigs in 40 cal. The barrel was short chambered, I went back and forth with Sig. Their customer service might as well be outsourced to India. It SUCKS. Sig's quality control is also lack lustre. I feel bad for the men and women of our armed forces or police that have to carry a Sig P320 as their service weapon. FN, hands down. FN is the most overlooked gun in my opinion. I am a huge Glock fan, the FN is of equal quality and the price is great.
FNS9C is my choice.
can you compare the fns to the xd mod 2?
+Victor Smith I dont have one anymore.
+Hegshot87 Eh no biggy. Great content keep it up look forward to more.
+Hegshot87 Just curious. why?
+D Lee It was borrowed from a friend.
I own the FNS 9C, but intend on copping the Sig when I find it in all FDE.
+Joshs Vision Yeah man the P320 is awesome!
Stop pushing the pistol while using the trigger gauge. It will read higher when you do that.
+bull2808 I've tried it a bunch of different ways man and it stays consistent
Sig,makes the best in the business, I'd buy the 320,but has the ugliest trigger guard ever, otherwise I'd own one, glock 26 the way I'm headed # Springfield guy
I shot alot better with the FNS. According to your targets, I thought you shot better with the FNS. I think you might have a SIG biased.
My vote would go to the Sig. Gripping looks a bit big on the FNS. Great video bro!
Grips on the FNS is slim and fantastic. If you like the 92fs/CZ75 style then it's for you. I can live with a Glock but the Sig P320 was just too bulky for my liking.
p-01 ftw
That sig having a better trigger than an FN 9c is hilarious. Not a chance man
Alex Blasingame Opinion, man.
sure whatever you say
Are y'all out of Charleston? That looks like ATP.
Yeah we are
Well you just got yourself another subscriber form Chucktown
FNS all day
I shot the FNS and liked it. It can be had with a thumb safety which is a must for me. Would not carry the Sig because it lacks any type of safety. The problem I have with both of these guns is the lack of a laser/light combo or a better aftermarket trigger for either. I don't understand your comment about the tritium sights. They are worthless in pitch black darkness regardless of the brand. Most of my personal defense practice in during extreme darkness and having a laser light setup is a must. I would buy the FNS if the M&P 9c was not available. They are all pretty much the same out of the box. The M&P clearly pulls away when fitted with an Apex trigger kit and a triggerguard laser. A Shield modded with the Apex trigger, Big Dots, MagGuts 9+1 mags and the fantastic Streamlight TLR6 is a better carry gun than any of these.
Sig dropped the ball on the 320 frames! To damn high in price and no availability! Shame on you Sig!!! Rather have the FNS!
FNS is such a great gun for the price even in Canada with our shitty exchange I got an FNS9 longslide for under $600 CAD. Sig P320s go for about $750 and Glock 19s for $850 CAD. If we could carry, I would definitely go for a FNS9c
I ordered one that will be here in 2 days from Midway USA for $39.99. What in the hell are you talking about?
A glock 19 worth more than the sig???? the sig and the fn are far better than the glock imho.
I humbly disagree hegshot
+Scott Saylors No problem my man
+Hegshot87 I'm not a sig fan lol
New guns ?? Glock got any thing coming out
+TheIrcbully Just the MOS G17 and G19 as far as I know
+Hegshot87 would you buy a glock 27 if you had a 26 ??
+TheIrcbully Nope. I dont see the point unless you just ha e to have the .40. I love the 9mm and 45 anyways but Id go for the 19 or something else completely
+Hegshot87 your right I am going to buy the 19 and maybe the 43 after the 19
I was a long time sub of yours but I got tired of your completely biased reviews. You're a huge Sig fanboy and don't accurately show the pros of guns you don't like. You seem to especially dislike Glock. That's fine, just be upfront and don't claim to do honest unbiased reviews. The first 20 or so comments on this video shows that most of The viewers prefer the FNS 9c. You're doing a disservice to 1st time and newer gun lookers and owners.
This song is annoying af matlock
Pretty much this was pointless as both of you don't shoot well at all
