I really appreciate your podcasts. I don’t comment much, but I can’t help myself on this one. As a soccer know nothing parent of a female zone 1 player, I feel I’ve learned two things: 1) 6,7,8 year olds should not be standing in line to do cone drills, 2) competitive soccer players don’t need conditioning. On the latter, I have anecdotal evidence with my own kid, and I’m sure many parents have a similar experience. Last year my kid’s school did fitness assessments on all 5th graders. My kid had no distance training or even experience running distances like the morning mile club. She did 6:20 the first time and 6:10 the second time. Soccer gets these kids plenty conditioned, and all they need is speed and strength, flexibility and balance
