Played football since the age of 7 and my last season in college was 2 years ago. Loved all my strength coaches I’ve been blessed to work with. Your channel is awesome and looking forward to watching your vids. Aspiring to be a strength coach one day!
The conversation around the 11 min mark about education having value is important, but I've found it quite interesting how much the concept doesn't revert back to creating income. In the private sector, interns dont cost money, they essentially save money so if they can do a task and follow an order they provide value. If you're being paid, then you have to at accept at some point that you have to drive revenue. If your education drives more revenue than the intern can save, you have a valid argument to save your position. I think there is a gap in education when we say, I have a master's degree, I should be paid more. We need a deeper understanding on how the marketplace rewards results.Because in the market place value is rewarded in income, not by the employer but by the market itself. If the market place finds value, then the employer can financially reward the employee. This takes me back to the book Lynchpin by Seth Godin also Purple Cow by Seth Godin.

I really wish I could find the girl who said she does strength coaching at four high schools. She really spoke to me, I'm in the same position now in my life where I'm trying to find clarity on who and where I want to serve.
Some really interesting views that are being shared. I hope this becomes a more popular way of sharing development in the coaching world, as it allows for so many people to be engaged in the discussion. Something that you said, that I use a lot myself, is asking that question; what is the point? In my opinion, for overthinking to be useful, understanding what the point is, is critical to making the thinking reflective and beneficial. I look forward to part 2.
Danny Hatcher Thanks Danny. Only way it will become more prevalent is if people like you tell others about it and continue to spread the world. Trying to do the best I can through my book, online courses, UA-cam etc to get coaches united towards shaping a better future. The problem is- this stuff doesn’t spread as quickly as “front squat vs. back squat” debates in S&C. In part, we are our own worst enemy. None of this stuff had been openly discussed by others in any point of my career. Trying to change that. Please share this video with friends and your network. I appreciate the support.
Glad it helped! We actually decided to make "part 2" into a course since the demand ended up being so great due to this video. We wanted to create an actual solution to the problem so coaches had a blueprint or guide to getting unstuck. You can find it at valuedcourse.com/
Great Video! I would like to add that I would take 10k to work early mornings and late nights because I come from Greece and I want to work in the States. Its not enough to live but its a start and I want someone to trust me to get my one leg inside somewhere and make them see that I worth 30 and 40k down the road
Rox Performance Definitely understand. Highly recommend you check out this resource. Created it to help create the blueprint I wish I had- courses.artofcoaching.com/valued-personal/
Would it be practical for me to have a full time or part time job while being a Strength and Conditioning Coach. I’m considering being a part time or full time math instructor at a College or University while being a Coach. Is that practical? I prefer Coaching first and foremost.
To be honest it will simply depend on your unique situation and the nature of your other job. It’s possible but you’ll have to find the right school and situation for your goals, lifestyle and financial responsibilities
Unbelievable advice! Heading to part 2 now! Love the open table discussion, hearing multiple perspectives, and finding ways to problem solve through the adversities we as coaches face in this field.
Looking into strength and conditioning as well as personal training. Want to do online gen pop and some in person with focus on golfers. I’m open to working with college teams but know that doesn’t pay very well. I have a Masters in Occupational Therapy as well. Any advice on which road to take? From what I’ve seen CSCS seems to hold more validity in the sports world over a CPT

This guy facilitating the group cusses way too much and it appears to be unprofessional. I would not want a person like this around me for coaching. Minimizing all scenarios that arise in the field doesn't make your points more valued and important.

Do strength coaches do one on one?
Yes, some of them do, some of them will work with teams and others might work with groups or 1 on 1 in a private facility or gym.
Its great job fnd
