>more incentive to approach by just simply walking up to the opponent >bigger hitboxes overall >slidehead does damage >heavier emphasis on HFB Welcome back +R Pot
recently since season 4, i feel like you and home depotemkin have been reigniting my hope for potemkin tenfold. thanks to your guys' discoveries, the patch for pot feels more like a rework where arcsys wants you to come up with new combos for potemkin in a way thats both exciting to rediscover and fun to play too. those who see the light will be graced with the most delicious glue one can desire
Regardless of how you feel about the changes added in Season 4 for the cast as a whole, Heat Tackle being 623K now actually helps me remember it exists instead of forgetting about it completely.
Seeing the changes for Pot, I kinda doomed over it quite a bit, but kudos to you, you got me into Pot at the start, and you've convinced me to try the new Pot. Excellent guide Frank!
This is the Pot Guide I've been waiting on! I also figured that the removal of Kara would be replaced by doing specials AFTER 6k since moves keep momentum after. So I call it a post 6k Kara. And with the RPS game of it, imma run that and cackle the whole time. Thank you for affirming my theory crafting! 😁😆
Honestly im new to guilty gear, but my friend loves to play Potemkin, and i also love big boy tank charatcers in games, so i wanted to look into him. Thanks for the video, it was more like a guide thana breakdown for me :)
Getting used to playing neutral with kara Mega Fist is an adjustment, as is the DP input for Heat Tackle, but I feel like I'm landing Pot Buster more overall thanks to the different kinds of armor. That, and I find it much easier to use HPB as an anti-air with the current input. I even KO'd a friend with Slidehead earlier. He's definitely different, I definitely agree that he's still a big, loveable grappler.
Still dunno about this. Karas being gone is obviously tragic, but there’s some interesting stuff here. I’ve been unnecessarily microwalking PB for a while now so I guess I should be happy about the changes lmao
Finally, Potemkin learned to grab enemies with his hands and not with his elbows. Seems like this season wants to make him more consistent without the overreliance on kara cancels we had before. People call it "a loss of expression of skill" but I find being able to competently play a fighting game a skillful enough feat, no need to add more "barriers" like learning strange combos. Overall I like this approach of making the moves themselves stand out. It feels more natural and approachable - you don't just learn the character, but the game's mechanics too. You don't have to be afraid of fumbling your kara cancel and whiffing completely and you can keep your mind in your more standard, global options. But what can I say, I'm a newbie, I'm glad enough if I can HFB into buster. I can say I will miss round start Buster Jumpscare (kara buster at round start, nabs the opponent if they didn't move)
Ah, I actually like this version more because like. I remember loving Plus R Potemkin but never fully getting the hang of him. Pot's tools in Strive just fit into his kit so perfectly. I love this version because I feel like it fits the best aspects of Plus R Pot, like how good Hammer Fall Break is, and puts them in Strive, and to be honest? I could never understand how Karas worked, so their removal isn't all that upsetting.
Thanks to your Video, I was able to create a Combo Recipe for beginners and Upload it. Teaching how to take full advantage of the Bigger hurt Box's and Faster Cancels.
awesome video!!! idk if its just because I couldnt do a lot of the kara stuff consistently even with a lot of labbing but overall I really like these changes pot received. Most of all trading karas to be able to flick chaos bullets is a trade id make any day. I am looking forward to giving this pot a try.
Thank you for this great overview. Glad I waited with jumping back into the game for real until after it came out, as I'm not much of a lab monster. Overall, I think I like this Potemkin, but I'm just a bit sad that he erased a version I loved playing previously. I wish the differences between new and old Pot had gotten fleshed out further and turned into a new character. I'm hitting the tower this weekend, wish me luck.
wow, granted karas were the thing i was most interested with about potemkin thid video is so well done and shows great potential in this new version, im excited to fight it :)
This version seems much easier to understand and overall better than old pot, with less playing against the game and more playing against your opponent 😂 good changes, thank you for the informative content
Indian man got his viability boosted while Nigerian samurai vampire got his hands stitched or whatever but he can't cancel his far slashes anymore WHAT DID THEY DO TO MY BOY
I've watched strive for a bit, and alwyas found potemkin fun to Watch. these new changes seem drastic but...honestly they seem like they make him into a more rounded and healthy character overall! i might have to try him in strive
I didn't like how zangief could grab out of his knee because I felt it made getting grabs a bit too easy, and I am a bit disappointed to see that they basically did the same thing with potemkin... thanks for the video tho, maybe I can have fun again on pot now
Personally I like this new potemkin, I started off this game learning pot but he just didnt click that fit of being an unstoppable moving object I thought he would be. I ended up dropping him in favor of Johnny but this new season makes pot FEEL more like a tank, a titan among titans. I think ill start picking him back up.
Im pretty happy about the kara changes tbh. I could never figure it out so my my glue was kara-less anyway. I do feel bad for the bro who trained in it.
Agreed. When I got to the point of "In order to get better, you must kara everything", I lost my interest in the game. I already struggle in general with fighting games, having to now dedicate my brain to one character's singular gimmick is just a wreck. Not to mention all the fumbles when you don't do them correctly. I will miss the round start kara buster, but at least Potemkin overall looks much more reliable and pickupable
Having played a bit since the patch I think the only changes that _really_ frustrate me are losing kGaruda and the BMF hurtbox nerf. Everything else I'm either fairly neutral or overall positive about.
I have to admit…I have not played the game in a long time and recently went to a friends house and I have to say Potemkin feels like a whole new character that I will have to learn all over again, especially getting used to HPB being an entirely new input as I felt the double quarter circles was much more easier for me to time. However…seeing that it does way more damage and has a much higher percentage of connecting is worth the change…as far as the 6K Kara being gone…let’s be honest…if he still had that plus armored pot buster…the complaints will be never ending. I would be interested to see if HPB does a decent amount of damage when pushed to the corner and the stage is going to break…will it be a wiser decision to do the HPB or break the wall with Heat Fist.
the two dislikes are the rest of the Pot mains that are still doomposting On a more serious note, I'm glad to see that Pot mains are finally warming up to the reworked Potemkin (granted its only been a week but its still nice to see). The removal of kara cancels is unfortunate but I never really saw any of the other changes as a bad thing (rip muscle memory) As a Chipp main, I can't wait to see you guys back on the field with your fun loving, glue sniffing enthusiasm! (lie)
I get why people would quit the game/character over this, but all the new shit Pot can do with armor looks very cool to me. I'll miss karas, but I'm going to try this. ...Changing the input on HPB is weird and annoying though.
Anyone have any tips on doing fast hammer stops in combos, im learning Potemkin now and I see all these combos having it as a key component. Is it that they use a hitbox to make those combos work or can a GameCube controller (yes I know) also do the trick?
I think it's just something that takes practice. It's probably _slightly_ easier on leverless than pad, but not by nearly enough to be worth changing your control scheme just for this lol.
people doomering about this character was the most annoying part of an otherwise hilarious patch. sure with the removal of his karas he may be less technically difficult to do well with but people were acting like arcsys killed him. i havent played strive for a hot minute now but thank u for still doin u
The gc I would argue is more there to make cS/2k pressure after Slide Head better, but the issue is using Slide Head instead of Garuda up close seems kinda pointless.
Biggest change for me was the hpb command and the lower launch from 2h. I no longer can hit cs 2h hpb on controller, the time to do the command is too short for the movement to go through in a match, turned it into 50/50 basically
My question is... do we have to be careful when we face the new Queen of Illirya? Do we take it slow or should we go and commit some Dizzy Word Crimes?
Hammer fall beats her ice pillars, so just run by and punish her while she recovers. If she sets up an ice field it’ll be harder to approach so use slide head I guess
Her f.S is very annoying as it hits up to 5 times, so if you don't want to block it on round start, jump and PB her on landing, as 6P doesn't give good reward here.
hey this is awkward hate to tell ya but all of the pots i know have been dooming you should take this down cant have hype when karma botstorm or something was removed
>more incentive to approach by just simply walking up to the opponent

it brings a pleasant tear to my eye to finally see a positive video about where Potemkin fits into Strive. Cheers and Happy Pot Busting!
I just got back into Strive and I love Pot and being away so long see nothing negative about my pain train still fun and impactful
Potemkin being able to reflect lots of projectiles is basically a Lucid Dream for all the other Grapplers.
Regardless of how you feel about the changes added in Season 4 for the cast as a whole, Heat Tackle being 623K now actually helps me remember it exists instead of forgetting about it completely.
Potemkin legit had to sacrifice Kara to become the God Emperor of Grapples.
Kara: "And what did it cost you?"
Potemkin: "Everything..."
