I think there’s a distinction to be made between humanity and personhood. Janet isn’t human, but whether the writers realize this or not, by the philosophical definition, she is a person. Personhood isn’t species based. An alien or robot or being built by extradimensional beings who has intelligence and emotional ability similar to or greater than ours can still technically be a person.
The good thing about the Janet/Jason romance is that the show shows that this is her choice. In the wedding, in season one, she gives a chance to object to the audience (consisting of Eleanor and Tahani). Of course, they both do. Before they can say anything much, she just casually tells them "overruled". It was a very polite way of shutting down anybody who might take this from her.

Have you seen a show called Humans? It's a UK remake of a Swedish show about a future where we live in a world with robots that look like humans called synths. They do everything for us (cook, clean etc.). Naturally they start to develop consciousness and the series deals with morals and how we treat them. I think you'd enjoy it.

It reminds me of the PS4 game, Detroit: Become Human (though I think "Humans" did a better job making the androids feel distincly non-human in certain ways like recharging their energy.) I especially liked the character who's kind of a human/synth hybrid. Those cyborg shades of gray are too often overlooked in movies, imo. I watched the first season, but stopped there because the human family's dynamics felt annoying and uninspired. And the synths seem so unhappy being outcast and on the lam, I didn't understand why they'd be talking about creating more like them. Have you seen the second season? Does it pick up from there? Still glad I watched it!

+Emi Janet is the BEST! (Though I'm glad you're also a Photon fan. hehe) The Good Place is definitely underrated! Usually shows are entertaining but dumb, or thought-provoking but dry/depressing. (But I still never would have heard of it or seen it without recommendations from my viewers here, so I'm grateful!)
This was fun to watch; I love D'arcy Carden's acting range and anything that celebrates it, but why did you use the semen collector from Rick and Morty as "a robot that can't say no"? Just seems like if you had actually seen the episode you would have known that wouldn't be the best illustration of your point.
I think the only reason good Janet was more capable of pretending than bad Janet is because the particular Janet was rebooted so many times. I think other good place Janets would likely fail in the same way bad Janet did. That said, great video. Take it sleazy.
Perhaps you could talk about any of the robots from the disney movie THE BLACK HOLE... Maximilian, The Sentry bots, the Humanoids, VINCENT and BOB.. they'd all be interesting robots to talk about.
The Darkmare That's an awesome idea. There was definitely "good" and "bad" robots. I mean Maximilian was so evil that he went to "hell". And the black sentry robot tried to "cheat" during the laser shooting game. Also, there are many other examples of "good" and "evil" robots in popular culture. Knights of the old republic had the HK droid that was evil and had "dark side" points.
I've had more requests for the Dark Hole robots than any other series! This movie wasn't part of my childhood, but I finally watched it recently and I can see why the robots are the star of the show. +Emi Janet is the BEST! (Though I'm glad you're also a Photon fan. hehe) The Good Place is definitely underrated! Usually shows are entertaining but dumb, or thought-provoking but dry/depressing. I love how this show strikes the perfect combination of both. S3 in just a few days! I'm starting to see more mentions of Good Place in the news and online, so maybe it's starting to be discovered. (But I still never would have heard of it or seen it without recommendations from my viewers here, so I'm grateful!)

This was fun to watch; I love D'arcy Carden's acting range and anything that celebrates it, but why did you use the semen collector from Rick and Morty as "a robot that can't say no"? Just seems like if you had actually seen the episode you would have known that wouldn't be the best illustration of your point.
I think the only reason good Janet was more capable of pretending than bad Janet is because the particular Janet was rebooted so many times. I think other good place Janets would likely fail in the same way bad Janet did. That said, great video. Take it sleazy.

Perhaps you could talk about any of the robots from the disney movie THE BLACK HOLE... Maximilian, The Sentry bots, the Humanoids, VINCENT and BOB.. they'd all be interesting robots to talk about.
The Darkmare That's an awesome idea. There was definitely "good" and "bad" robots. I mean Maximilian was so evil that he went to "hell". And the black sentry robot tried to "cheat" during the laser shooting game. Also, there are many other examples of "good" and "evil" robots in popular culture. Knights of the old republic had the HK droid that was evil and had "dark side" points.
I've had more requests for the Dark Hole robots than any other series! This movie wasn't part of my childhood, but I finally watched it recently and I can see why the robots are the star of the show. With so many robots to talk about, I think this could make a solid future episode. Thanks for the recommendation, +Drake Kondrat and +heffe1981
