- I discuss & show you tips for using screening and pinch points with Hybrid Sorghum, Egyptian wheat, Miscanthus grass & Spruce trees for secure entry/exit, adding edges, compartmentalization & structure to your hunting property.
Jake and Randy are my two favorite Whitetail habitat UA-camrs
I’m working on my 200 acres with your help as well as others thanks for the videos 👍
Awsome set up Jake 👍good info thank you
Great stuff Jake, thanks for the info.
Great New Intro Jake. The video is very informative and this year I did a lot of screening and simulated pinch points with NW Plot Screen. That stuff is amazing.
Happy Hunting
excellent video Jake!!!
Great video, alot of time and work went into this one
Always great information
Holy COW!!! 19 minutes of Jake! Jake i cant afford your services in person, however i can share, subscribe and like your videos and tell people about what i like about your information! i follow you on face book and always share your videos or posts to my feed. keep up the very informative videos. thanks
Absolutely I feel as if I wrote this
Jake do you have video with more information on growing swtch grass with egyptian wheat? Whats the seed rates are and what not?
I try to seed the HD sorghum @ 12-15 lbs/acre seeding rate and broadcast the switchgrass @ 7-10 lbs/acre seeding rate, my goal is a very thick switchgrass screen not to create bedding habitat.
Another great video Jake! Thinking about planting some streamco willow for a permanent screen on the edge of a food plot. About how long would you say it would take those to get about 6 feet? Let's say we end up getting 12" - 24" cuttings.
Depending on your deer density & ground quality and how well you keep competition away 2-3 years easy, good luck Jake. And thanks for the kind words about my video's.
@@habitatsolutions360llc3 Thanks for the reply! Good luck this season!
Whitetail habitat solutions 👍👍👍👍👍👍
We had major problems with deer rubbing our spruce off, so we cut the bottom off of 5 gallon buckets and put them down over top the trees and the deer seem to go right past them. I would recommend it to anybody that has problems
wonder how bamboo would work for screening as long as it will grow in our zones.Might take some time to get established...... Egyptian wheat is a sorghum ?
How much sun light does the Egyptian wheat need per day to mature?
It really needs full sun for it to do well.
@@habitatsolutions360llc3 Thank you, I will do my best to give it full sun.
Do you like the hybrid sorghum more than the Egyptian wheat for screening?
It seems a bit thicker stemmed with more & larger leaves, the trick is to get it seed rate broadcast appropriately.
Have you ever tried mixing them both together? The last 2 years I’ve just used Egyptian wheat. What rate do you broadcast it at?
@@aarongoeppner413 I've found the "standability" of Hybrid sorghum in cold weather with snow & ice to be superb compared to E/W or sorghum sudan grass, never mixed them..
Your just ripping off Jeff Sturgis
Absolutely love Jeff, he is one of the best, but Jake is a food plot artist. His screening work and plot compartmentalization is 2nd to none. Nothing wrong with watching different people apply their trade. It's a big field to cover.
This is an ignorant comment, Jake & Jeff Sturgis both work with Jon Komp Northwoods whitetail on creating great seed blends.
