You nailed it ...think it might take a full year or so Jalen to fully understand this offense however it won't take him a full year to win he can get it done this year he just needs to execute what he does understand and have Kellen call the right plays we will have success this year as long as he can process the defense and make the right throws we're going to be very good I believe in are QB

What’s up MMA! I appreciate it, and I agree, as the season goes on and Jalen gets more and more comfortable with the system, hopefully we hit our stride.

There’s a video on YT breaking down Kellen Moore’s offense. I think if people watch that they will see what Hurts is talking about. The play might look similar to something we did last year but the QB responsibilities and keys seem totally different. Last year it would be let the receiver beat his man deep. Now it’s recognizing what the safety is doing and throwing to the crossing route on time over the middle. I think Hurts is saying the OC philosophy is different and so are his reads. Plus there is motion AND the pace is more uptempo. People killing him when he is just telling us what he is experiencing. Everybody’s trying to read something into it. Just accept what he is saying and move on to the next clip.

I get why “95% different” makes people nervous, but last year we were all calling for a complete overhaul of that totally flat offense.

It's that slow portion of the offseason. I knew we would get at least one of these over reactions, I just didn't think it would be in early June.
I think Mike Gill had a good take on it. What exactly was the expectation? What did they expect he was going to say? He told everyone it's mostly a new offense, minus probably a couple plays, and Nick is not in the meetings everyday anymore. So, he answered honestly, and he wasn't trying to shade Nick. He basically told them that Nick handles the overall direction and messaging, not the day to day. So, his messaging has been good. Our media guys think they're writers on a soap opera sometimes.

What's up PJM! I started playing as a tiny mite (5-7 year olds), and played through high school. To be clear, I didn't play college ball and opted to join the military. While I was in the service though, I began to coach Pop Warner ball in Suffolk, VA. While I was there, I got invited to help out at my first football camp. Getting an oportunity to assist at camps really introduced me to a lot of smart people. My favorite coach is NC State's Dave Doeren. He is very firm but also really fair, and he has a great defensive mind. He was always willing to talk ball with even the lowest guys on the todem poll at his camp.
Following my military service, I attended college. While I was in college, I kept at it and coached rec league baseball and Pop Warner Football in NC. After I graduated, I became a Historical Interpreter for the Department of Natural and Cultral Resources in NC, and I became a K-12 Social Studies Teacher. That brought me into the world of NCHSAA. I was quickly brought in to coach Middle and High School baseball and football. However, I just got older and burnt out. So, I left the education field in 2019, and I started my channel. I'll be honest, to this day I get the coaching bug. I'm honestly facing another decision about coaching Middle School Baseball or Softball next season. My niece is currently playing, at the school my wife teaches at and my niece attends.
Once I started my channel, I was once again reintroduced to a lot of smart football minds. It didn't take long until I met a lot of former collegiant players, and I'm inquisitive. So, I honestly asked them more questions than they were obligated to answer. Most of them were very gracious, and would spend hours talking ball with me, and teaching me concepts. I've learned a lot from people such as Max Browne (USC & Pitt, Former Gatorade All-American), Jalen Williams (Va. State), Justin Arth (Texas Wesleyan, Gillete Mustangs IFL, Georgia Force AFL), Caleb Brennan (Charleston Southern), and Mr. Sandman who played D1 ball for one of the Connecticut schools (I apologize I can't remember which one). There are a lot more people that deserve credit, but I would be here for a long time typing it out.
If you're wondering what my connection is to Philadelphia and the Eagles, I'm from New Castle, Delaware. So, I grew up about 20-25 miles outside of Philly. My first football experiences were with the Delaware Bulldogs (I believe we were just New Castle Bulldogs back then), and St. Peter the Apostle Catholic School. Then, I moved to North Carolina and played for Carnage Middle, and Garner High School.
That's my story. I appreciate you watching and leaving the nice compliment.

Formation variance is key. Substitutions happen based off of the personnel on the field. Once you break the huddle, there's a huge opportunity to put a defensive player in a situation they aren't comfortable with just by varying the usage of your personnel.
That leads to chunk plays from blown coverages and obvious mismatches.

What’s up Jonathan! Exactly. It’s one of those bigger picture items that I think Nick and Kellen are on the same page on. They both run some form of a spread offense, and both believe in creating matchups. However, the way they create those mismatches are on opposite ends of the spectrum. I’m excited to see how Kellen brings everything together.

ive been saying this for over a year, the next step for this offense is getting under center more. Analytics show that Play Action is just so much more effective when under center because the QB gives his back to the defense and they need an extra split second to confirm run or pass. Also opens up jalen on the bootleg. Its a hard transition because jalen has played in shogun his whole life, hes always been able to see the defense the entire play and being able to turn around and immediately read the D is a skill, but i know he can develop it. Excited

Responding to the end : TBH were bottom 5 in under center snaps and i believe their was a stat where like 70% of our under center snaps were play action passes so it was very predictable when we did. A big part of this change will be the runs from under center as well. Some concepts just dont work as well from Shotgun like Counter and Power. I think we see a significant increase in overall under center play while obviously stlll being a shotgun offense.

What’s up Bobby! Yes sir, so much of these things are very situational dependent. If we’re up big in a lot of games, and we’re clocking it in the 4th quarter, I could see the run game really up ticking that total under center snap count. Jalen has been hovering in the low 20s, I’m curious to see if it upticks to the 50s.

@@CoachHeitter Im excited to see some outside zone with the threat of the bootleg from under center. That’s something we haven’t had in the offense much. We do it from shotgun sparingly but rollouts aren’t nearly as effective at drawing in the defense as a well performed play fake and bootleg. That Should get us some big plays in the pass game as well as some free explosive runs for Jalen at times. We just need a more under center runs to make it work.
