    Saquon can absolutely break 1800 yards, in fact, I believe he will break 2K....how by averaging 5.8 yards a touch 20x per game! I believe Saquon if he remains healthy will achieve this goal this year!

      He's not gonna touch the ball 20 times a game. 15 is a reasonable amount of touches. Especially with the WR corp and Godert at TE.

      Bingo Mike! You got my point. You gotta find the total touches, and 1500+ yards from scrimmage should be the discussion. We would all be excited if he eclipsed 1800+ yards from scrimmage, but anything over 1500 yards, it means this offense is probably in a really good place.

      What's up Don! I'm curious what his actual utilization will be. I don't know that if it will get to the 1800 yard marker people are wanting, but I do think 1500+ is not out of the question. That is a very good season for any RB.

      This is the biggest external signing I can think of at the RB position since Ricky Watters. I know people really thought DeMarco was a big signing at the time, but I don't think his star was ever as high as Ricky, although he outproduced him prior to arriving. I feel like Saquon has that type of star power.

      Outside of clock management, I would put this on Kellen. Nick is not inside the offensive meeting rooms like he was prior. He has a more expansive role over specialized. To me, this is about Kellen finding a way to scheme up the distribution of the ball to the four cornerstones of the offense, and Jalen being in synch with those guys and Kellen with what they see from the defense. I'm excited to see this thing play out. I expect it to be rough for a few weeks, but once we get into October, I want to see this offense go!

    My Saquan Barkley stats projections;
    335-380 touches
    1350-1550 rush yards
    450-700 receiving yards
    1800-2200 total yards with 18-22 TDs
    He’s going to have his best season ever. Mark my words
    Eagles offense will be elevated this season. Everything will get their chances. This is the year of the YAC.

    I think it’s totally doable to get saquon 22 touches a game. During that 2013 season the eagles threw an average of 32 (31.68) passes per game which sounds about perfect for hurts. In fact, in a 17 game season that works out to 538 attempts on the year, exactly what he had in 2023.

    • @CoachHeitter
      @CoachHeitter  4 місяці тому

      I definitely think the favorable zone for the vast majority of QBs is that area between 28-32 passing attempts a game.
      In terms of touches, it’s really tough to predict. During Zeke’s tenure with Kellen, which was about 62 games as a starter, he had 8 games where he had rushing attempts that were equal to or greater than 22. In terms of total touches, I counted 16 out of 62 games where his rushing attempts and receptions equaled or were greater than 22.
      It’s a tough assessment because Kellen was originally brought in to help shift Dallas’s offense away from Zeke and into Dak’s hands more. Which he did for them. But he also over saw the committee approach to RB for Dallas too. During Kellen’s rookie season as a play caller, they drafted Tony Pollard (2019), and the following season, hired Mike McCarthy and drafted CeeDee (2020), and later TE Jake Ferguson (2022). This helped build that spread concept Kellen plays out of 11 personnel (3 WR Sets), pony sets (two back sets), and multiple TE looks he gives out of (12 & 13).

    He can get 1800 in a Kellen Moore offense. Look at the history of that offense and note that the starter routinely gets 65+ receptions. To get MVP votes, he'll need 16 total TDs with the 1800 yards.
    He can do it, but only if we forgo the Brotherly Shove and let him punch it in, which he can.

    • @CoachHeitter
      @CoachHeitter  4 місяці тому +1

      What's up Jonathan! While you're 100% correct about the utilization of RBs in Kellen's system, and we will absolutely see: screens, swing passes, wheel routes, and angle routes become 1st/2nd reads. Unfortunately, Kellen has never had a RB achieve an 1800+ scrimmage yard season. Both of Zeke's seasons were before Kellen had control of the offense in Dallas: 2016 & 2018.
      I was curious how Ekeler would play with Kellen. On the surface, it looked like a really good fit for his scheme. However, he got injured and missed a few games, plus they had a bit of a committee approach. Same thing happened in Dallas too with Zeke & Pollard.
      That's a question a lot of people are avoiding with Kellen here in Philly. Because of Saquon's contract, and the type of back he is, I've assumed the plan is to make him a 3-down back. Although, if I'm being honest, Kellen has normally kept a healthy rotation out of the backfield. I'm curious how this plays out between Kellen & Barkley.

      I was disappinted with Ekeler and Kelley's play last year too. I thought that combo was going to be really good under Kellen Moore. I think they were missing that inside zone runner to pair off of those guys. I think there is still time for Joshua Kelley to develop into that, but overall those guys didn't achieve what I thought they would last year. Although, the Chargers year in, and year out battles with injuries should be a national study. That team has more unfortunate injuries than any team I've observed in a while.

    • @CoachHeitter
      @CoachHeitter  4 місяці тому +1

      Game situations will absolutely matter, and that's the tough part to project. Depending on the amount of 10+ point leads we're protecting, that probably will have a big impact on his utilization and production.
      From what I saw on film from Kellen, there is going to be more 1st/2md read progressions to the RBs. That is going to uptick their receiving production. Although, 500+ receiving yards is a lot, and that's what hangs me up on the 1800 yard marker too. I definitely think it's possible to achieve, but far from a guarantee. To me, if this young man eclipses 1500 total yards, he was worth every penny.

    Given what you said at the end, I think the question should be - Do we want an 1800+ points season from Saquon Barkley? What will that say about the rest of our offense?

    • @CoachHeitter
      @CoachHeitter  4 місяці тому +1

      What’s up cockerel! I think it depends on situation and circumstance. That’s what makes this conversation really tough.
      If we’re down pieces to the offense, and that’s the reason for Saquon’s elevated stats, happy to have Saquon on the team, but probably bad for the offense overall.
      Now, on the other hand, if Saquon’s numbers are up due to RBs being used a little more as primary and secondary reads, and that leads to Jalen taking less hits, I’m for it. Or, if Saquon’s numbers are up because we’re protecting a lot of 10+ point leads in the 4th quarter, I’m all for it.
      I don’t think it’s impossible for Saquon to reach 1800 scrimmage yards in this offense, but I think it’s more difficult than many people are making it sound.
      I know people want Saquon to enter the CMC discussion. However, I still believe he can have similar effect on our offense without needing crazy 1800+ yards from scrimmage production. If Saquon reaches 1500+ scrimmage yards, this offense is going to be really tough to defend.

    Gate City,,,i really value your opinion. I have an idea about a trade and I like to know how you feel about it. Bradbury for Zayvon Collins (Cardinals) . We need edge and LB depth after this yr. And I think Collins could be a steal, if we played him on the edge/OLB. His metrics read OLB 6'4, 260 and 34 inch arms. Last year was his 1st yr at the position which he only played 7 gms with 3.5 sacks. The Cards have drafted 2 edge players, the past 2 yrs. Gannon doesn't have time for him to develop, but I think he would be great for us. Lmk how you feel about this. PS ,,,Great video

      What’s up Trumaine! I see where you’re going with it. Young player, on the last year of rookie deal, where the team has already said they won’t pickup the 5th year option. That is definitely the type of player that Howie likes to make an inquiry about.
      I like how you approached the measurables for an overhang in Fangio’s system. He definitely has that tweener body type of Julian Okwara, Jalyx Hunt, Zack Baun, and Andrew Van Ginkel (Miami Last Year).
      With that said, I’m not sure if Fangio and staff would see him as a down in, and down out overhang. Or, would they see him more as a stacked, off ball LB. The fact that Gannon and company in Arizona played him as an overhang probably lends well to him being a multi aligned player at minimum. Also, we could honestly use competition on ball and off ball. So, either alignment would probably be welcomed.
      I haven’t heard anything about us having interest, yet. We might not hear those reports until later in camp. He is definitely an interesting name.

      The comparison is about Ricky Watters being the last and only external signing at RB to eclipse 1800 scrimmage yards for the Eagles.
      Wilbert Montgomery, Brian Westbrook, and Lesean McCoy were all draft picks for the organization.
      So, Saquon being an external signing, and certain fan expectations of an 1800+ scrimmage yard season, brings the honest and obvious comparison to Ricky Watters.

      What you’re proposing, since 1920, according to Stathead has only been accomplished twice.
      Once in 2002 with Charlie Garner. Where he had 273 total touches, and 1903 scrimmage yards.
      And…
      Once in 2010 with Jamal Charles. Where he had 275 total touches, and 1935 scrimmage yards.
      That’s it.
      I’m not saying it can’t happen, but if you’re betting the Vegas odds trying to make a little money, I would increase those average touches per game a little.
      You want to get them over 300 on the season. Right now, with projecting 16, that’s only 272. You want to push that figure to an average of 18 touches a game, or 306 total touches to have an outside shot at winning against that kind of odds.

    RUN THE BALL MORE

    • @CoachHeitter
      @CoachHeitter  4 місяці тому

      What’s up Ted! We might see a little more commitment to first down runs early in games. However, Kellen’s core philosophy is still similar to Doug, Nick, Steichen, and Brian Johnson. Meaning, they want to throw it early, and run it late to close games.
      Although, subtle changes in early possession runs can still make big changes. We might still be overall pass dominant during early possessions, but that doesn’t mean that Kellen won’t still look to use the run game during early possessions to set up favorable 2nd and 3rd down conversion opportunities.
      However, the real run-pass ratios will be controlled by 10+ point leads in the 4th quarter. If we have a lot of those leads, we will probably see a heavy dose of the run to close teams out.
