- Quick audio note: We have since fixed our test ride audio, but we had a little too much wind noise in this one to hear the engine's full unadulterated sound - so there is a soundtrack under this one to help make the audio less jarring. The next video will have the full engine sound with no soundtrack!
Today Abhi rides a 2001 Suzuki GSX-R1000 and gives us a quick rundown of its epic history. After approximately a decade and a half with the GSX-R1100 being the top of the Gixxer lineup, Suzuki introduced the all-new GSX-R1000 for 2001. Journalists felt it was the first bike to compete with Yamaha’s revolutionary R1 of 1998, and Suzuki was able to top the R1 with less weight and more power (374 pound dry weight, 160 hp/81 lb-ft at the crank).

Just picked up this exact bike after relocating from CA where I sold my R1. Always loved the GSXR model so gonna have some big fun now!
Congrats!
Just bought myself a 2003 Suzuki Gsxr 600. Only 8650 kilometres ridden since new. Completely stock. I’m in love with gixxer❤️
Same but with 33k miles on the clock. Runs so smooth though it is absolutely stunning blacked out
I love my GSXR 1000 2003 very cheap and very furious
Besides the late 80s and early 90s I think 98-08 was the best decade for sport bikes
Could not agree more!! Love the bikes from this era.
I think the late 90's/ early 00s GSXRs are going to appreciate soon. So many of them got trashed and they're so nice to ride. But I'm biased since I have a '96 SRAD!
I agree 100 percent and wish I had the srad
I HAD A 97 750 SRAD BLUE AND WHITE I BOUGHT IN 97. IT WAS MY SECOND BIKE. I HAD IT UNTIL 2009 WHEN SOME FUCK STOLE IT FROM MY APARTMENT🤬. I HOPE THE BASTARD THAT STOLE IT, WILL FOREVER HAVE BAD LUCK IN HIS/HER SORRY ASS LIFE. I LOVED THAT BIKE FROM THE FIRST TIME I SAW IT. I WOULD HAVE OWNED THAT BIKE FOR LIFE. ONCE I RECEIVED THE INSURANCE MONEY FROM THE SRAD IN 2009 IS WHEN I PURCHASED THE BIKE IN THIS CLIP AS A SECOND OWNER. I LOVE THE 1000 GREATLY, ITS AN AWSOME MACHINE, BUT MY 750 SRAD WILL FOREVA HAVE A SPECIAL PLACE IN MY HEART.
@@questinfinityit was me lol thanks i fucking love this bike
I hope you still have it, those are extremely iconic, imo. My brother in law has the SRAD and I have an K1 1000 . I absolutely love both of them.
@@alfjohnsonjr I do, I'm currently mechanically restoring it!
I have a blue 2001, low mileage, excellent condition, all stock. Nice to see they are going up in value, at least if they are collector quality.
Bought this exact color back in 2001 brand new. This was my first ever super sport class liter bike. Owned it for 3yrs. Put 6.5k miles on it. What great memories. Miss it!
I HAVE THE EXACT SAME BIKE. COLOR AND ALL. MINES IS ALL STOCK EXCEPT FOR BRAIDED BRAKE LINES. FOR ITS AGE IT'S STILL AN INCREDIBLE MACHINE THAT HAS PLENTY OF POWER EVEN BY TODAYS SPORTBIKE STANDARDS.
Bought one brand new in 2001 same color. Loved that bike!!
Iconic Suzuki for sure! I have an 02 red black silver, such great street bikes.
I first bought a 2007 R1, but then I swapped it for a 2001 gizzer..more comfortable ride, people say?
I own this exact model bike its been great for 20 years i shortened my yosi exhaust canister and reinstalled looks and sounds better
Love these
That's bad-ass!
What a beautiful machine ✅
Awesome thanks
I'm still lovin' mine even though it doesn't get ridden much, IT'S IN BEAST MODE ALL OF THE TIME... NO TC OR ABS!! 😈
The best motorbike ❤️
I have this bike.
Would like to hear the engine on the ride not that music
Looks like they made a note about that in the description 👍
The original bad ass bike had a k1 k4 k7 k9l i liked the k1 the best
Eu tenho uma 2001 gsx R 1000a cor classica 52 mil km nunca batida
Why play music how disappointing
PLEASE don't call them a gixxer
Cry
Its a gixxer thou. What are we supposed to call it?
I strongly disagree with the opening statement for the 1996 GSXR 750 SRAD really got them back on the map going in to the 2000s. My opinion.
That was a really special bike. It basically killed the 750 class because no one else could compete
Correct. The SRAD is the forgotten hero of sportsbikes.
People Remember the 916 etc.
People Remember the RC45
People Remember the zx7r
People don't really Remember anything else.
