    Wow. That KSR amp seems WAY nice(!) but then I saw that it's about $1k (eep). I wonder how much better that KSR sounds through a real cabinet compared to a much-less-expensive ToneMaster FR-12 which everyone seems to also really love for that "real amp" sound(?) Shootout! Shootout for us poor budget-minded folks! haha. Love your content, Jarrod! 🤘🤘

      Reverb usually has PA50’s on there in mint condition all the time. And even KSR’s website will have a couple units on sale in certain colors. Plus you can really do anything you want with it. Power any preamp you want, the list goes on. I own two. One with EL34’s and one with 6L6. I definitely can feel a difference between this and my SD PS 700. Some people say no, but when you’re there in person, I think there’s a huge difference. The price may seem steep, but the technology isn’t going anywhere so it will last a long time, while the modelers will continue to be updated.

    • @donniejean
      @donniejean День тому

      And notice ever though people say that you can’t tell a difference between the solid state? They all still say they want that “real tube amp sound”

      @@donniejean I hear you but context is a thing too. What kind of player are you? in a band? gigging? I'm just an amateur enthusiast bedroom player that honestly plays through headphones most of the time for the sake of my wife and 2 kids (kids are %$#! expensive!!). I don't doubt for a second that running my great-sounding (to me) Tone-X captures (from Jarrod, of course!) through a KSR amp and then through a MESA 2x12 would sound amazing, especially at volume levels that I could never (legally) play at in my house in a dense neighborhood. That said, I'd be really curious to compare that setup to my Tone-X captures through a MUCH, MUCH less expensive Fender FR-12 which so many reviewers rave about when I get the opportunity to play "fairly" loud at home.
      2X Fr-12 may be a future goal of mine to get that dramatic stereo spread that I'm now so accustomed to via headphone playing, but even that seems like quite a luxury considering middle-class living in 2024. Anyway, it's all good - I appreciate the good and interesting point of view!

      @@steveareton697 oh I totally suck but because of getting sucked into UA-cam land of “next best thing” by people who can jam, I’ve spent all my money on gear thinking it will make me sound like that. I’m 44, not married, no kids. I forget to take that sort of stuff into consideration. I guess my point is, instead of buying lower price stuff trying to achieve what you want, might send you down the hole of you should have waited and bought the one thing you needed since you’d spend about the same amount anyway. Does that make sense? I learned the hard way. I dig Jarrod’s videos because he speaks the truth, and I know this because I own some of the same things and agree. This PA50 has been around for a long time, so it’s pretty cool he’s showing it off again. And KSR is a great brand altogether. So following advice from Jarrod is good. And if you want advice from
      Someone like me who can barely play but has just about everything, I can tell you what I think about some stuff. I’m trying to get a channel started doing just that. Show us new guys how expensive gear sounds in the hands of inexperienced players. Honestly the piece of gear that got me playing again is the iPhone sized Mooer Prime P2. It’s just a small pocket unit I play through headphones. It has an app that you can change setting and such. My friend even captured a preset I made on it for the QC lol. It might be 20 years until I do my first gig, but as long as I’m having fun and not chasing after tones anymore. That’s just my input.

I guess I could have tweaked it to sound better through the Tube power amp but it was that much worse I didn't even bother. Maybe it's just me and the way I had my settings? Just high gain, nothing fancy. But 50 watts tube NEVER kept up with my drummer and I've tried many. They got so dang close but lost all headroom, tonality, and dynamics. I got he SS amps due to having back issues and to me it's the best sound I've ever had. Sticking with my high watt solid state amps. Sounds damn good to me but still a great and interesting video!
