That IV.(setting) High-gain mode with symmetric LED soft clipping. Saturated, punchy and big. worked nicely !

Awesome content as always. Any chance you can do an episode on your top 10 boost pedals and what you like about them?

@ i got the Fable last week 😳😳. Might be one of the trippiest pedals ever. I love it , especially after a getting stoned . Lol . Like you i love the Julia . Might have to check out this Ages one as well . They look awesome too.

I have the WALRUS audio Eras pedal in front of me as I watch this. It had never occured to me to try and run it as a boost pedal. I am curious.
It is a kind of cool pedal as a distortion, but more so heavily borders on being a " Fuzz" pedal.
Either way, no regrets picking it up, it is an interesting pedal and will find an application somewhere, one way or another.
    Great video, thank you.
I do not have the tech capabilities for IR, nor would I know how to use it if I did. ( old school fool who can kind of get the hang of letting the amp warm up before throwing the standby switch)
But these tone chasing tutorials are outstanding.

This is a really cool video idea.
I just use the MXR 10-band eq for this kind of thing now, though. I don't use nearly as much gain, either, so...

That’s a great way to do it! It gets you very close. There’s a certain kind of punch and attack you get from the overdrives that you can’t get from the 10 band. It’s like 90% there but when you A/B them you can tell. It’s not so much about the amount of gain, just the attack, tightness, punch, and how well it comes through the mix. The overdrives come through the mix just slightly better

@steveo041 Definitely agree. I went back-and-forth with a few different OD's & the MXR. The OD's do have that certain punch, but I just preferred the MXR every time. I'm going to get a few more OD soon and give them a rip. I have my eye on the Wampler Moxie right now.

Walrus Ages you need to use with the bass knob at zero, its there just to compensate for the cut off low frequencies, and you dial it in only ever so slightly.

Why not try the boost on all 3 channels?

    • @TONEWARSgearshow
      @TONEWARSgearshow  3 дні тому

@@draper858 thanks for commenting. We just wanted to keep the video as short as possible. All Steve needed was one channel so he could play his leads.

We could have done that for people to see but here we did it for the application we would use it for. I’ve tried boosts on Ch1 and Ch2 a million times at home and never liked it. For Ch1 I use a compressor pedal and Ch3 is my rhythm and lead. There are a lot of bands that only use Ch3 for their sound, it has a thickness that you can’t get out of Ch2 no matter that you do. For the Stealth anyway

I think the video quality need to be improved, it looks like low resolution or low fps

Sounds fkn great but it's clumsy to use in a live rig.

I use a midi switcher on my board so every setting or combination is set to one of four buttons. No tap dancing and everything is gated so there’s no noise no matter how you set it. That’s the only good way to use everything live

Off topic, but I need help! I am searching for a guitar that has a claw like paw print on the headstock as the brand logo. Google hasn't helped. If anyone knows the brand please drop the name. Thanks!

Blackat Guitars some of these have a paw on fingerboard and headstock.
