The most interesting thing about the hippos in Colombia is they are fertilising the river and restoring it to a condition that used to be done by South American Giant Ground Sloths until they were hunted to extinction by humans 10,000 years ago. The only real issue though is that Ground Sloths were peaceful (hence why they were hunted) whilst Hippos evolved in Africa alongside humans to be hyper violent and will happily rip you in half if you hang around their mud hole too long.
