Kid Goku is basically a country bumpkin who is naive and doesn't understand the rest of the world around him. Even as an adult he is still very naive and simple-minded, but he grows as he experiences the world around him and all of the people in it.
I find it funny that goku basically has hood speak in a Japanese dub.😂

In the original, when Goku walks in on Bulma taking a bath, he says that girls are strange, cause they have butts on their chests. Bulma then educates him that these are breasts and that babies and boys like them, and then says that he is too young to be interested in that topic anyway. Asks him about his age and when Goku replies that he is fourteen she gets super mad and yells that he is only two years younger than her.

When Goku asked to help washing Bulma's back he originally said his age after she answered that she's 16. Then Goku said "I'm 14" That's why she threw all that stuff on him. The comic of the scene was, unfortunately, censored it seems to be...
And that's also why she didn't want Goku in her bed : 2 years of difference is very short. But the young Saiyan don't already know how to count (he's 12)
Both I, and the original dub guys thought Goku was like 5. XD Bulma even said "I've known him since he was 5 years old." in the Dub. That's the epitome of "Didn't watch Dragon Ball, who dis?"
It could arrive to have some mistakes in the translation and the adaptation of Dragon Ball. But miss and change so many importants things should change their perception of the anime. And It could be a bad thing

Also, I forgot to mention, Emperor Pilaf is ruler of a specific region at that time, if you see the DBZ world map on Google, he ruled the region where Babidi's spaceship hid Maijin Buu in. He also has agents other than Mai and Shu. He just wanted to go from a region to ruling the world.
4:34 I like to think that since Grandpa Gohan knew Goku is an alien, he must have taught Goku that all human males have tail like Goku has, in order to accommodate and raise him as a human being and so that Goku does not feel left alone. Goku always believed he was a human until his elder alien brother Raditz showed up in DBZ. Too bad Grandpa could not stay with him to teach Goku more about the world. Anyway, Goku now has Bulma and his adventure to do exactly that.
Akira Toriyama hadn't come up with the idea of Son Goku being from outer space at this point in the story and wouldn't till over a hundred chapters later. He was originally just a monkey boy with a tail - there are other animal people in the world so he really wasn't that out of the ordinary. But, in hindsight it all works out.
I was watching your old dbz reaction video when kid trunks and Goten stole the mighty mask outfit and Madison said trunks is kinda manipulative and y'all both agreed he got it from bulma then on the first episode of this reaction y'all said bulma very manipulative lol it's cool how the creators made their kids personality fit their parents lol

I always found it weird that Bulma wasn't comfortable letting Goku help wash her back, but maybe that's just me.
She's fine with seeing him "naked" because he's a kid, so it's not weird... but him as a kid seeing her naked is still weird? Make up your mind, does him being a kid make nudity weird or not?! He's obviously not looking to see you naked for any perverted reasons, he probably doesn't even realize that kinda mindset EXISTS.

It's wonderful to see people finally watching OG DB. I don't why so many people missed it out in childhood. I know that the fighting not being in focus plays a factor here but the anime is still fun as adventure series and I loved it as a kid even though I didn't understand the humor at times 😂

OG Dragonball is amazing and Goku and Bulma has been friends for years now you know why Goku isn’t very knowledgeable about certain things since Grandpa Gohan raised him in the woods
The OG Dragonball is probably my favorite of all the Dragonball series. I think it was Akira Toriyama at his most creative. RIP.
I watched the original 12 episodes of Dragon Ball on fox as a kid. Probably 1990 ish? It was part of a Sunday morning cartoon thing they had along with the Dragon Warrior anime. Both had Akira Toriyama as the artist. I watched Dragon Ball because of Dragon Warrior, as I had played that game on the NES. When DBZ came out my mind was blown. Then I got the internet and downloaded every episode and movie.
You know I'm starting to see why Goku never saw the value in schooling Gohan, or at least sending him to school - Goku was learning by nature itself, lol

The crazy thing the first Dragonball series are probably the best of the whole franchise, everyone gets character developement, everyone is useful, and it's more than just fighting and blowing up planets, theres adventures, Theres actual story, the scenes are unfiltered, and Theres a lot of martial arts, skills, technique, it's not just about being Super strong, imo Dragon ball overall is the best, DBZ was constant fighting and serious, Dragon ball allows you to not only enjoy fights but Theres many comical scenes it's more balanced, btw Tien is absolutely badass in this series and Master Roshi isnt just a spectator you get to see him in his glory days as a fighter and master.
As much as I love DBZ. Og Dragon Ball is definitely my favorite of the series!

I wonder why Maia grew younger on OG to Super just to be Trunk's girlfriend in the far future? But this can mean she is older than Bulma, then her voice when small for young Trunks, grow back up in Trunks' world, what if they make a story that Maia go struck by making her grow young for Trunks, otherwise it won't make sense.

Dragon Ball is not a story that will disappoint Dragon Doll Z.
Rather, there is the Red Ribbon Army chapter where the artificial humans are created, the Tenkaichi Budokai chapter, the fight against Tenshinhan, and the fight against King Piccolo.
The episodes to come are very interesting and Dragon Ball keeps the same atmosphere as "Z" while transitioning to "Z".

Ssj3 is like super Saiyan god but the ki is leaking and that's why it's not as strong because of the stamina issues. Ssj4 is ssj3 ape not wasting ki ssjgod and ssj4 are similar but ssj4 is still its own thing also.just another way to power

During the 21st Tenkaichi Budokai (World Martial Arts tournament in the dub), the announcer asks both Krillin and Goku their ages and Goku confirms that he’s 12, explaining to Krillin that he didn’t know how to count until Roshi taught him that 12 comes after 11
@@theassortedhobbies I meant I didn't know if him telling Bulma he was 14 was another episode, but I'm pretty sure it was supposed to be this one. I pretty much only watch this in Japanese because it's so close to the manga.

I also saw DB adter Z and I think it's slightly better than Z. Dbz is 90% action 10% adventure humour, DB is like 50/50 so overall it's maybe better paced? But dbz humour is just as good as DB and DB fights can be just as impressive as Z especially when the characters grow stronger

DBZA won't ruin Dragon Ball for you. It's a series made for the fans of Dragon Ball Z who understand all the metanarrative stuff that fans speculate over. It's pretty good, but be warned it has a rough start because it was made ofr like 2006/2008 youtube by a bunch of people barely over their teen years. It gets better and better over time. Both voice acting, jokes, and visual flare. Masako X is also probably the best /most faithful English Goku voice out there if you compare it to the original Japanese. If I were you I'd bundle 2-3 episodes in one reaction at least for season 1. They tend to be shorter and it'll zoom you through the roughest portion.
