- Part 1 of 2: This video takes viewers through the steps of converting an oil-fueled boiler system to one based on a high-efficiency propane boiler. Such a retrofit is becoming popular in many states, especially in the New England region, among homeowners looking for energy savings and lowered carbon emissions.
wow.a real marvel of compactness. ingenious.
Great professional video. Good info here...
Way to go Chris. Looking good. Just shared this with my employees. - Doug @ TG
Hi Doug
How can I talk to Chris do u know him
I am from Europe and very interested to know more about this product
great video
How much the switch from oil to gas cost approximately? I need to get a new oil tank or a new system...want to know which will be best to get...Thank you
What causes the decrease in effeciency to almost 50%?
So Paul your Ok with running oil because A)you like vacuuming out soot from an oil boiler and B) you run out of oil frequently because you don't retain a company for automatic delivery?
as far as bulky goes, I dont even have an electric hot water heater with my boiler system so that right there negates the bulkiness issue of the boiler... and as far as losing efficiency, its not hard to open it up the door and vacuum out the soot on the heat exchanger. And another thing to note is, if I run out of oil on a winter day I can always go down the street and throw some diesel in the tank to hold me over till the delivery comes.
*cool info*
I'm sure this was a 9-12grand conversion versus just getting a new oil boiler... but gas is nice for stoves fireplaces etc
And much cleaner, efficient, and cheaper.
@@CloverPickingHarp At today's prices, a high efficiency LP mod con boiler has very similar operating costs to a cast iron boiler, but with twice the maintenance and half the service life.
Also, if you frequently set-back your thermostat, DON'T buy a high efficiency boiler. It will not work well and you will not save on heating costs like you can setting back the thermostat on a cast iron boiler.
There is no way a 15 yr old oiler burner is goung to go fro 85% t0 50% efficiency unless it is never cleaned. What a crock!
I agree the guy blowing smoke up peoples ass to get them to switch
Your're right. We have an oil burner that is still at 84% after 16 years!!! What ever report he got the data is flawed beyond belief!!!!
I will bet you that boiler has been removed by now in 2021.
Ho much approx. does this whole thing cost. & what is the cost Gas vs propane heat. we are looking to buy our 1st home & see a lot of them being oil heat & my husband used to live in a house that had oil & that was a lot of money in the winter & that was like 15+ years ago, now is crazy to even have oil heat with the cost of this supplies not to mention why spend our USA money on foreign oil? that is not patriotic at all to me if we have a choice.
Oil is a nightmare tbh... gas is the way to go
Vanessa, I'm responding to an old comment here so maybe you already figured things out. You need to use a calculator that accounts for the price of LP vs heating oil and also the efficiency of the boiler. At current prices, this conversion will not pay for itself, but maybe over time it will- but I doubt it. Keep in mind mod-con boilers have approximately half the life expectancy of a cast iron boiler and maintenance is critical to getting the full life expectancy out of the high efficiency boilers. I use this calculator: www.efficiencymaine.com/at-home/heating-cost-comparison/
What they don’t tell you is how much money you spend on this new stuff that only lasts 5-7 years.
