    PNSO just love their ceratopsians! The Centrosaurus is a definite must for ceratopsian fans. PNSO need to do a Chasmosaurus scaled up! This is gonna be an interesting year.

      @@DinosDragons Love to see PNSO's version of Styracosaurus! I already reviewed the collecta deluxe version, which is a neat model, though a bit half assed on the patterning and could use a bit of further paint application.

      I would love if they kept the good quality paintings matching the pictured, and aswel as the posters. The poster was stunning, and the model fall a bit on it, it happend with the Olorotitan on my opinion. But love these PNSO equally :-)

    Great breakdown as usual! I was tempted by this model but just tonight I opted to pre-order the Styracosaurus instead. I can’t wait for your review of that one! Hopefully the paint work will be of higher quality.

      Based on what I saw in the release images, PNSO would have to mess up real bad and get the shades many degrees lighter than the release image to have anything like this result. Given the choice, I would go for the Styracosaurus for sure! You made a good call I reckon!

      Thank you Wietze! I am happy to have viewers like you who appreciate the little bit of science and knowledge as I never want to do just do a video to show a figure, and no more. I think the more we know the more we can appreciate what we have, or in some cases, be warned that maybe we don't want to spend money on something we don't have!
      A smaller Ceratosaurus would definitely be welcome, considering how good their large one was. And some spinosaurids to start fleshing out that group of theropods would be great. Don't forget they haven't tackled any of the major Maniraptorans too! 😁

    Thank you for another great review! That group shot is just beautiful, Jennie's blue frill really stands out yet complements her relatives so well. Seems like after the slew of marine reptiles, PNSO is zooming in on the Ceratopsians!
    Also appreciate you bringing in 1/35 scale Doyle, I never knew Triceratops was *that* much bigger...

    • @DinosDragons
      @DinosDragons  3 роки тому

      I love the blue frill, but sadly the overall colour is so dark that it does look flat compared to prior ceratopsians.
      It certainly seems like ceratopsians are the next thing they're filling out. As you say, marine animals recently, and prior to that theropods, and now seems to be the horned dinosaurs moment.
      Indeed, the ceratopsians came in quite a size range. Nice to have roughly the same scale so you can make a comparison on the same shelf.

    Happy New Year!
    Ah, at last (both the model and the review 😁). A long awaited taxon, done by PNSO, AND in 1/35 scale. Forgone conclusion then that it's a must buy. Now for that Acrocanthosaurus and Torosaurus 😫 And of course, great review as always. Much like you, I think the paint is a bit too much like fresh clay, but paint-apps don't necessarily make or break a figure for me, so no complaints from me.

    • @DinosDragons
      @DinosDragons  3 роки тому +1

      You're right, I wish I'd thought of the phrase "fresh clay" myself. It really looks like mud or clay. I would say that as much as I like this genus, if I had a choice between this and say the next Styracosaurus, then I would pick the Styracosaurus anytime. I agree that paint apps don't necessarily break a figure, but also consider the price as well.
      Happy new year to you too!

    • @swaggasaurus_rex
      @swaggasaurus_rex 3 роки тому

      @@DinosDragons Yeah, when I first saw in-hand images, my immediate thought was fresh clay. And I agree, the Styracosaurus is a more visually appealing model and slightly bigger than the Centrosaurus, and for the same price. Likewise, if I wasn't starving for a Centrosaurus (and overflowing with Styracosaurs), I would have picked the Styracosaurus. Also helps that the Centrosaurus looks to fit in better in 1/35, than the Styracosaurus which looks slightly too big.
      Thank you!

    Thank you so much my dear Sir for this amazing review as always. And as always I'm in love with this figure even though the color scheme is so different from the promotional images. I would like to suggest something to PNSO. I think it's better if they can point out the scientific side of these figures. And the papers, researches they've used to create the figure. They've started doing that with the museum line Mamenchisaurus. But would love to see those described reviews to their old figures and regular priced figures as well. Thank you so much Sir.... Can't wait for the next review ❤

    I really appreciate the research you do in advance of your videos, speaking as a paleontologist. As for Monoclonius / Centrosaurus, of course there isn't a complete consensus on the matter but I am of the camp that if it *is* to be considered one and the same, then Monoclonius has naming priority over the later named Centrosaurus, but of course that's a debate for another day. Fact is, we simply don't know for sure at this particular juncture, so I'll happily hang on to my childhood Monoclonius memories ;)

    • @DinosDragons
      @DinosDragons  2 роки тому

      I will say that I often think of Centrosaurus as Monoclonius, simply out of nostalgia 😁 Monoclonius was also unusual as a kid to me because it was one of the few dinosaurs that didn't actually have a name that ended with the suffix "-saurus". Actually that is something that I kinda miss today. Seems like it's no longer cool to have that with many newly named dinosaurs! So *Monoclonius* this will unofficially be!

    Lovely review, I am a proud owner of Jennie as well and she's so pretty and absolutely adorable. I am very curious on your opinion on that Papo pentaceratops that showed up briefly at the start of your video.. 👀

    • @DinosDragons
      @DinosDragons  2 роки тому +1

      It's unusual in being able to do two poses, so playability is definitely there. The detail is as for Papo - plenty of texture, though oversized at that scale. It captures quite nicely the characteristically awesome and long frill of Pentaceratops. Unfortunately for me, the hands lack the vestigial fifth digits, and the foot has claws that look to me too big. There is also a weird hump in the shoulder region which throws me off. So if you are a stickler for anatomy, it might not be your cup of tea. But just for playability and novelty, and the fact that so few Penteceratops exist in affordable model form, if you can get it cheap, you might want to give it a shot. You might like it in hand!

    • @Diepzeevis
      @Diepzeevis 2 роки тому

      @@DinosDragons thank you so much for this comprehensive, pocket sized review, I appreciate it wholeheartedly! It fascinates how pentaceratops is quite rare in toy form, despite having such a unique aesthetic to it. That might be the decisive factor here for me - and the fact that despite a couple of shortcomings, it looks to be one of Papos better efforts. Thanks again, can't wait for more of your reviews!

    • @DinosDragons
      @DinosDragons  3 роки тому +1

      Thanks Colin! I like this too but the colour is a disappointment.
      But I try to free myself of the "collector" label because that encourages a kind of fulfilling prophecy where my purchases will be neverending. I pare my collection down by giving them away to a children's charity periodically. Some of the pieces that are not suitable for childen I may gift or sell to other collectors I know. I think it would be sad if I had a storeroom full of boxed statues that
      no one will ever enjoy!

      I do have a few. The Pentaceratops, Spiclypeus and Subadult Triceratops.
      I think they serve a different purpose. They are more action figures, highly poseable, and yet done in as scientifically accurate a manner as possible. Many reused parts across figures but acceptable since like hadrosaurs they follow more or less the same bauplan with just changes in the heads.
      There will be some compromises to the patterning since articulating the joints means that pattern lines will be disrupted. The actual paint application too cannot be as complex because of risk of scraping off.
      I enjoy them for what they are, but they don't really belong together with the rest of the models we've looked at so far, I think.

Sinoceratops went from 18 something to around 35 €, there's something wrong with it! VAT would'nt make such a difference! Anyways, i'll wait. If anything, i'll wait for Eofauna to come up with one. • @thomasmonroe7947
    @thomasmonroe7947 3 роки тому +1

    I’m really looking forward to the PNSO Styracosaurus. Along with the Centrosaurus, PNSO is putting together a great ceratopsian line-up.
    The amazing array of skull morphology has always made them one of the more interesting dinosaurs with Styracosaurus being a personal favorite.
    Centrosaurus and Einiosaurus are a close second and third after Triceratops.
    This company continues to produce some great figures, imperfections and all.
    Really, given what’s generally made available, I’m not going to complain too much.
    I’d rather they keep trying to manufacture, as consistently as they have, the high quality items they’ve produced, thus far.
    With a caveat…more sauropods please….
    1/35 to 1/40 preferably to stay scaled up to the majority of their figures.
    Shelf space be damned!
    I’ll make the space.

    • @DinosDragons
      @DinosDragons  3 роки тому

      It seems like PNSO is fulfilling all your top tier wants for Ceratopsians then! Except for Einiosaurus. The next one might be a Torosaurus or as I hope, a Chasmosaurus.
      The really painful part is for those people who are paying so much more tack-ons to the base price of the model. Really sucks to have the middlemen, shipping costs and so on. If that was the case, I don't blame people for wanting near perfection, because they _are_ priced for perfection. Hopefully PNSO can find some way to lower the costs.
      And you're absolutely right. I don't want puny 150-1:45 sauropods, I want something grand from 1:35 to 1:40! Surely they can do something like the old Ceratosaurus or Huanghetitan!

    • @DinosDragons

      I would say definitely don't pay more than that. It's not the size that I think limits how much to pay as much as the paint application. I like that it's small so there is some relative difference between other dinosaurs of the same scale, but this is definitely something I want to get repainted and that will cost money.
