21:32 I don't even need to joke about him anymore. On the topic of Majungasaurus, it is good to see it getting more representation, I remember as a kid the only place to see one in motion was Jurassic Fight Club. Glad that changed.
Haha well I hope that good news will come soon for you if you're into theropods. I just have a feeling that we'll get more of Nanotyrannus soon. Or at least, the sense that smaller theropods will start to get more respect as the number of scientifically-motivated collectors increase.
@@DinosDragons Oh I know Thomas Carr is already working on a counterstudy or something. It'll all be for nothing now that the Denver Museum of Nature and Science has an actual Juvenile Tyrannosaurus they're working on.
It was a good choice to not include an articulated jaw into this figure. I think Haolonggood should stick with static jaws for their theropods. This makes the sculpts look so much better.
It certainly avoids ugly seam lines. For a small figure like this, any seam line will appear magnified. With the new for less detail in the mouth, there might not need to even do a separate piece. I'm excited to see how HLG theropods continue to shape up!
Hi! Thought I'd so some clarification on the size. This model is based on hartman's majungasaurus, rather than Franoy's. Hartman's has a proportionally smaller head (and he has explained in the past why he thinks his interpretation is the more accurate one). So scaling the headbone to hartman's, ends up giving 8.2 meters along the centra, compared to franoy's 7 meters. So it should be 1:35 to Hartman's skeletal, which is what the model is based on
Thank you very much for your comment; I will add it to the description. I will look up the comment by Hartman. Sad to say, while I am fascinated by abelisaurids, my main interest has always been Carnotaurus. Almost my entire focus with abelisaurs have been on Carnotaurus, being extra fastidious to catch as much published material about this, and hence sidelining the rest, with a corresponding deficiency of knowledge!
I can't get over how almost fluorescent the pastel colors are on the brown/blue guy. Mine is coming in the next few days along with a few other late gifts that didn't arrive in time for me to open on Christmas Day.
recently, the HLG pose is cleverly scultped in a juxtaposed way that when presented in pairs they look like they are interacting! the Triceratops too. Absolutely magical. Not only are they appreciable in pairs for their color pairing, but also posture pairing!
Short clawless Arms like Abelisaurids and super long Arms / Claws like Allosaurus or Spinosaurids / Megaraptorans are the best Arms in Theropods. Interesting Video.
Haha yes, theropod arms! Variety and variety! To be honest I have so much lower an interest in theropods that were in not my fascination with their incredible and downright weird limbs, I might not have started reading up on that. Well, that is except T rex of course... I believe any adult learner wishing to learn more about dinosaur science _has_ to touch T rex! And it's arms help with the interest of course!
I couldn't resist the sandy brown. There's a big improvement over previous theropods from HLG. I'm impressed by the low-slung pose, which seems intimidating and vibrant with threat.
It definitely is! And if this is a sign of thing to come for their theropods, I have high hopes for the Concavenator, teased to come out later this month! Happy New Year for us!
Very nice poses for a diorama. Good figure. The HLG Argentinos have arrived... holy sh*t ! They are really top quality and the most sturdy figures ever. They can send them around the world no fear of damage. And they match so great with pnso (if they ever make such figures they will cost 3 times more^^) PS: Did you see the REBOR 161175 - 1:35 Tyrannosaurus rex "KISS" Island Ver. I like it but it seems that rebor has some problems in producing figures...
When's your video coming out? If anything deserves Titan status, these are it! Unless they broke your shelves 😅 PNSO will never make a 1:35 Argentinosaurus, unless they decide to change their material, which is going to weigh even more than the HLG, judging past models! Indeed, between the HLG and the Era Terra ones, I believe that I'm satisfied enough. It will take something really special for me to want to get another one. I need time for the ol' wallet to regenerate first! Re: Rebor Kiss Island version, it's all subjective of course, but something about it really makes me uncomfortable. Will you be getting and showcasing it?
Thank you very much! Indeed if this is any sign of things to come, their theropods should eventually be on par with their herbivores. Let's wait for the Concavenator!
I grabbed the yellow ver. and it's a very endearing sausage creature. It doesn't have that uncanny or stiff look in previous HLG theropods, and I so hope haolonggood keep up this standard with the group (and give us a tarbosaurus please I beg)
@@DinosDragons I have indeed! It's pretty good imo, not as overall solid as the majunga at least from what I've seen but will be grabbing one for sure.
In my opinion, this is their best theropod model, and it shows that Haolonggood are evolving. If someone is looking to buy a Majungasaurus, I believe this is the one to choose (the Safari Majungasaurus is not the best representation in my opinion). While the skin details, color palettes, poses, and scientific accuracy are all impressive, I am not fond of the teeth. My favorite variant is the gray one, and I hope to purchase it one day. Thank you so much, dear sir. You are the best, and I can't wait to see the next review! 🖤🖤
I did consider it, but in the oblique view there is something a bit off about it and in the end, I didn't get it. It's a nice model though, I must say!
Well in all honesty, this model is so small that at normal viewing distances, you will not see it. But I understand many collectors want to know that even if a detail can't be seen, it's the best. In which case, this one will be the main objection!
We could sure use more representation for abelisaurids! Rajasaurus will probably look very similar to other ones since they borrow a lot from those to reconstruct it.
Generally, they still lack a refinement in paint apps, though I believe their scale detail is very close. Many collectors still think they are a ways off though. You may have to get two recent models, one from HLG and one from PNSO, to form your own opinion. Ceratopsians are an obvious consideration for this, since PNSO's last was Lokiceratops.
Depends on where you are. If you're in the US, try Dan's Dinosaurs. If you're nearer to UK, then EverythingDinosaur. You could also go to Lanatimeshop.
Do you think there would be a way to ask Haolonggood to do the teeth like Nanmu, so that they would be more "realistic"? Unfortunately with this paiting and sculpting they do, the model for me looses appeal... specially because I think that one of the main traits in Carnivores are the teeth.
From time to time, people certainly comment on the Chinese forums and also their fan page. However to be fair, for something as small as Majungasaurus, it's really quite hard to do. Closeup, it looks really reasonable to ask for better paintwork. However when you realise how small these are in absolute terms, it seems more forgivable. I would suggest letting them release their next model of a bigger theropod, and then looking at them again! 😁
I guess it depends on where you live, and how much you have to pay for shipping and middle man fees. HLG tends to be known as a very affordable brand, at least compared to PNSO!
I believe at such a small scale they would be difficult to do. But when the only thing most people complain about are the teeth, and this is such a small model, then I think it's certainly worth considering the purchase!
I don't think I've ever realized just how small Magunga is until you used those humanoids!
Very cool!
Indeed! Those humanoids are one of the coolest products I have, and a great investment for me! 😁
You have to say they are improving their therapods
Agreed 100%
They do a very good job with sauropods and ceratopsids, but its true that not so much with theropods
They most certainly are! I hope they get to redo their T Rex one day!
21:32 I don't even need to joke about him anymore.

i was really skepitcal about this model after seeing the promotion images but in person it looks way better
Definitely! I thought the sausage was over exaggerated but now I am really enjoying this!

That is quite true... there is an almost unearthly quality about that colour scheme!
recently, the HLG pose is cleverly scultped in a juxtaposed way that when presented in pairs they look like they are interacting! the Triceratops too. Absolutely magical. Not only are they appreciable in pairs for their color pairing, but also posture pairing!
That is certainly one very creative way of doing it! Especially with two colour variants!
Ótimo vídeo

I like this medium-sized theropod (and almonds)
Lol yes I might review the almond some time!

Great review! I think I'm actually leaning towards the sandy colored one. I feel it would fit right at home in Madagascar.
You are right! I completely did not consider that!
So nice to see a great up to date rendition of majungasaurus, and by hailonggood no less? Very pleasant surprise, and great review

I really don't know wich color to get... It's a first, for me. I usually prefer the more conservative, but the brown looks so good...
When it's hard to choose between two colours, you know that HLG has done a great job, and that whichever you'll get, you'll probably still be happy! 😁
