I came back on a hospital flight from Nam, I was shot up all broken in peaces from chopper crash coming in on a hot L,Z, hamburger hill ,Then nurse and I where talk I asked if I could ever play my drums again ,She took a tape to the pilot and he put on Grand Funk Railroad , Getting closer to my home, I cried my heart out ,, I lived , I am Music,,////God Bless America And ya'll
R&R Hall of Fame has came and went and no GFR inducted. That's the real crime here. Anyway, I'm sure at some point in their career as a band, they considered them self's as blood brothers. But it seems like, "Blood is thicker than water, but money is thicker than blood". Sad because Don and Mel can't take the money with them.
I was trying to live up a party that I went to with this song and some gangsta wannabe starts laughing and asks "Who was this?" And, I'm a nice and out-going guy and I told him "He didn't know shit." The guy started walking to wanna fight and was pushed by a group of girls and guys in the middle of the party who all a sudden started dancing and having fun. Good ol Grand Funk Railroad!
Back in I'd say maybe the mid-70s I was sitting listening to my radio and the DJ said we're going to play Grand funk singing this song 10 times in a row and I sat there the whole time listening to those 10 times and loved every minute of it. Congrats to that DJ
I have been married 32 years and we played this at our wedding reception and strolled into TWO OTHER events at the venue we had the reception….. collected about 20 additional guests and brought them back to our reception…… in Detroit no less and turned the LIGHTS OUT IN THAT PLACE !!!!!!!!! Can’t remember cutting the cake !!!! ✨❤️✨🥹🥹
Who is still listening and LOVING this in 2024?!!! If not you should be!!! One of the absolute best versions of this song I have EVER heard!

God take me back to the 70's. Happiness plus.
No one but Grand Funk should sing this song.

It´s impossible listen to this music and still believing that the world is a bad place to live. This song is a anthem of happiness!
When Motown meets rock….great, love from the UK.
I truely believe, Grand Funk Railroad is vastly underestimated and underappreciated

Love love love this song. Because it even makes me happy when I'm feeling blue.
best two decades of rock n roll 60's 70's
60's and 70's had the best songs of ANY era!!!!
The lead singer is the greatest dad he took care of his son till the day he passed. God bless his wife and him!
One of my favorite songs of all time. Every time it comes on the radio, I gotta stop and just boogie for a minute. Thanks, Grand Funk!
I never get tired of this type of music and this version is just right. Bring it on back.
