I don't care what anyone says the 70's was the best generation when it came to rock and roll. The music these days sux doesn't come close.

This performance is the purest distillation of rock n'roll. Four guys, no studio augmentation, fueled by alcohol and adrenaline.

I thank the Lord, that my childhood was in the 60's and 70's. It was such a great time. A freedom that is hard to put into a few words. It rocked and still rocks my life, and developed me into who I am today. A diff set of morals than the world today! Rocks On My Brothers and Sisters!! Love Ya All!!

Every teen loves the music that's live around them.... But the live music of my teen years 1969-1975.... I wouldn't trade that for anyone else's "teen" years... It was generationally special, meaning it's appreciated with enthusiasm by generations that followed. A true Golden Age.

The Rock and Roll of the '70's we're good times. Great time to be a teenager. Maybe every decade is a good time to be a teenager, unless there is a draft. Honor our veterans. Without them, we have nothing in this U.S.A.

    Lyrics
Out on the road for forty days
Last night in Little Rock put me in a haze
Sweet, sweet Connie, doin' her act
She had the whole show and that's a natural fact
Up all night with Freddie King
I got to tell you, poker's his thing
Booze and ladies, keep me right
As long as we can make it to the show tonight
    We're an American band
    We're an American band
    We're comin' to your town
We'll help you party it down
    We're an American band
    Four young chiquitas in Omaha
Waitin' for the band to return from the show
Feelin' good, feelin' right, it's Saturday night
The hotel detective, he was outta sight
Now these fine ladies, they had a plan
They was out to meet the boys in the band
They said, come on dudes, let's get it on
And we proceeded to tear that hotel down
    We're an American band
    We're an American band
    We're comin' to your town
We'll help you party it down
    We're an American band
    We're an American band
    We're an American band
    We're comin' to your town
We'll help you party it down
    We're an American band
    We're an American band
    We're an American band
    We're comin' to your town
We'll help you party it down
    We're an American band
    We're an American band
    We're an American band
    We're comin' to your town
We'll help you party it down
    We're an American band
    We're an American band, wooo
    We're an American band, wooo
    We're an American band, wooo

I saw them during this tour. I was in the 8th row and they kicked ass. I thought that Veleno was so cool. Still do! This was back when Norlin and CBS were ruining Gibson and Fender, so this was one of the coolest guitars made in the 70’s.

It is truly mind boggling that the jerks (committee) has yet to induct Grand Funk, one of the greatest bands of the 70s into the rock and roll hall of fame. Or should I say rock and roll hall of SHAME!

+Ralph Rivera the rock and roll hall of fame is not a real institution - someone made it up to make money - it's not like it was founded to serve as some sort of true music museum or some such.

Did you know that before GFR, Mel Schacher played bass for a Bay City, Michigan Latino garage band: " ? and the Mysterians "... (their big hit in 1966 was "96 Tears") -- although Mel played with them after that song was released, and then only for a little while until their regular bass player got back from Viet Nam. BTW, the lead singer ?'s real name is Rudy Martinez, and he was brought into that band for his dancing ability! Go figure. And while I'm on the subject of Michigan rock stars, how about James Newell Osterberg Jr. (born in Muskegon in '47) -- known now as Iggy Pop. Apologies for my digressing, GF was huge in the '70s and one of the best!

The clothes were designed by the famous photographer and designer Lynn Goldsmith. They were made for the Shinin’ On Tour and they glowed in the dark. Mark Farner also played an aluminum Veleno guitar for this tour too. When the lights hit the guitar it would shine back out into the audience.

I wore out the 8-track of this in my car back in high school. Glad to have been a teen in the '70s, the music then was soooo much better than what they call music today. I offer a challenge to any "artist" of today to see if their music is still kickin' ass 4 decades later!

Kids who did not grow up in the '70s...well, you have to pity them. That, along with the '60s, was the best decade for music. They should do some classic rock history, get a nice stereo system with speakers that'll rattle the windows and see how it was. Man, I'm glad I grew up before 1980 happened.
