- S1 EP5 (2023 Series) An Adoption Story: Vanya Syron was adopted from a regional orphanage in Arkhangelsk, Russia in the late 1990s by his New Zealand parents.
With information that his parents held onto about his birth family, he managed to get a letter through to his Birth Mother in 2010. Since then, Vanya had lost contact but hopes to re-connect with her and his siblings in Arkhangelsk.

Welcome! Here on my channel I share my journey, topics for adoptees, my vlogs, and support for others adopted, including their stories and journeys with my An Adoption Story series.
As a Russian-New Zealand adoptee, adopted at the age of two from an orphanage in Arkhangelsk, Russia, I share what I've been learning on my journey with my upbringing here in New Zealand, my current life, and how I connected with my birth family. I also share what my bloodline means for me with those connections from Russia, Ukraine and Kazakhstan.

Very interesting. I hope Vanya can go back to Russia soon when things in this world are safer. Maybe you could go back with him? Thanks for sharing these adoptee stories on UA-cam.
Thank you Sherry! Yes I have told him down the line I would be more than happy to go with him if that works out. Happy to help him with his path of going back. Of course - when it’s safer. At the moment - he’s been in touch again with his siblings and he’s super happy to be connecting with them.
