@Shane Howard RDonner said that as a personal opinion but generally it's considered a horror film since all the typical horror film elements are there. Anyway theres not much difference between thrillers and horror.
@Shane HowardThe first omen movie will always be the best. Part 2 was good but the first will always be memorable. It has both horror and thriller elements. Plus Damien in the first one is both evil and adorable.
@@aristrosa Part 2 was good but nowhere near the quality of the original. DSeltzer refused to write it since he wasn't interested in sequels which is sad since his story would have made it a classic like the first one.
Definitely remember this from being 11 years old when it came out. Didn't see it till many years later. Classic thriller. This boy still chills me almost 47 years later.
Definitely the no.1 horror movie of all time. Many would say exorcist was scarier...this movie has no gory looking ghosts, no head spinning or anything of that sort...just the music, screenplay scares you. That's why this always is a classic
Not to mention those terrifying Rottweiler dogs!😍 The trainers, did an OUTSTANDING job training those Rottweilers, in The Omen!👍 Also, Jerry Goldsmith's musical score for "The Omen," of which he WON an Academy Award, for Best Musical Score......well deserved!🤗👍😍
Or that horrible digital look that most modern horror movies have. Fine if you shoot it on the cheap with a digital camera but please invest in some good post processing that makes it look like an actual film and not like a cheap home video.
Such a dark and depressing film and then Richard Donner follows this up with Superman quite possibly one of the brightest and most optimistic films of all time lol
Still can't have enough courage to watch this again. Storyline and acting are priceless. Even the music gives back memories i had back then. I watched a few hundreds of movies, and this easily would be in my top 5.
This is 70s movie making at its best! The opening music oppresses you but draws you in at the same time. No CGI, no over the top gore - just pure terror created by an awesome soundtrack, great writing and direction conveyed by very talented actors and actresses. I was a bit disappointed to see this movie remade in 2006, I felt it could never really live up to the original classic with Gregory Peck and Lee Remick.
As a 45 Year old even now when watching alone i used to see around every 10 mins once ..Such an intense movie ...I liked Gregorys every move in this movie and the Omen Boy
Much better film than exorcist. No gory head turning scenes or green slimy thing coming out of mouth, or gory looking ghosts...just scares you with the music, the screenplay, and the events..a timeless classic. Always the no.1 horror movie in my opinion..
@@vvaassaanntthh you're doing an injustice to the Exorcist. You're making it sound like a Friday the 13th movie.. The Exorcist is 98% atmosphere and writing. The demon is the climax dude.
Just watched this movie, I really liked the way there was no jump scare, only a scary movie. I really hate sudden volume up and count it as a scare scene with most of the new movies. "raising the Volume is not scary", it's just a limitation of the director's mind.
One of the greatest horror movies of the 1970s...and nobody tell me that after seeing this for the first time like me that you haven't been warned.. Cos you have... Lol..... RIP Gregory Peck, Lee Remick, Patrick Troughton, Billy Whitelaw and Leo Mckern...
Fun fact: Harvey Spencer Stephens (Damien Thorn) earned a Golden Globe nomination for Best Acting Debut in a Motion Picture - Male for this movie. He was 5 when they filmed The Omen. He is now 49, divorced, and has two children. He was arrested in 2017 and got a one-year prison sentence for a road-rage attack on two cyclists.
The Omen is a horror masterpiece! It holds up so well and continues to be unnerving to this very day. When Richard Donner directed this classic, he knew what he was doing.
I AM A ABSOLUTE HORROR MOVIE JUNKIE, I CAN TELL YOU THAT THE OMEN IS A DIFRENT TYPE OF SCARY MOVIE LIKE NO OTHER, THIS MOVIE ENTIRELY HAS A VERY DEEP DARK EXTREMLY EVIL FEEL TO IT, AND TO THIS DAY I WONT WATCH IT ANYMORE, IT MUST BE THE FACT OF THE ISSUE THAT THIS MOVIE IS ABOUT SATAN INVADING THE BODY OF A CHILD , IT BRINGS CHILLS DOWN MY SPINE
I was six when my Father took me with him to see this movie, under the rouse that it was a pirate movie. It scared the hell out of me and left an indelible mark on me, perhaps with the middle name Damion. It came closer to home.
The Omen is one of the most scary movies of all time next to The Exorcist. Any story that has evil in it should scare you the most because the devil is alive and working hard to take everyones souls...especially today. Look what this world has become. If we're not near the end now...then when will we ever be?
I often wonder why Horror movies were better back then. One theory...... Most people ( in U.S.) were believers in God,& went to church on a regular basis in comparison to today. A higher percentage of people also believed in The Devil,& Hell.
Yep that was one of the scariest movies in it's day, especially if you saw it uncut, not edited for TV. Unfortunately this trailer pretty much just spoils it. ;-)
Jackie: No, Michael, no. We are gonna watch the movie with Eric and Donna. Kelso: But I missed the beginning. Eric: Okay, the little kid’s a devil. They have to kill him. Watch the movie
Everything that happens in the film is Robert's fault. No, he couldn't have known about the conspiracy around Damien, but to just adopt a child and not tell your wife the truth is just petty.
The omen still is an excellent horror movie. It's modest and memorable. Still has relevance today.
The best horror movie, beats the Exorcist and Shining hands down!
@@nicky29031977 I completely agree with you the omen is still a good and classy horror movie.

@@herohero-fw1vc nah it's all bogus. and the exorcist is the scariest.
Agreed
Horror movies from the 70s with that soft, dirty look have such an authentic feel. Much better without the HD remastering. This trailer looks amazing.

I know exactly what ur talking about. Black Christmas is a classic. Its hard to find good horrors now days
Yes it’s so good, gives you such a nostalgic feeling. Also idk just wanted to say but the music 😫 for example Ave Satani is 😔👌
Agree in general, but I think this particular vid/copy is just a little too downgraded though - it's crazy: super soft, to the point of being milky...
So true. And sound used to be so grating and raw, especially with screams.
Rest in peace, Percy Rodriguez, the greatest movie trailer voiceover ever and an outstanding actor of stage and screen. You are immortal sir 🙏🎶🌟💜🤩
"The Omen"(1976) is the best religious terror movie of all time! This is a unique masterpiece!
Agreed & True..... 👍
Top 3 with The Exorcist and Rosemary’s Baby!
I was born on the day this movie came out to the theaters. Good thing I was blessing not a curse.

Better check you've not got a birthmark on you of a sequence of 6's.
Have you checked the skin beneath your hair carefully?
How do you know you were a blessing... even Damien took a long time to realise who he really was.
