I am 62, always exercised regularly but gradually put on weight once I hit 50. Tried calorie counting with limited success. Since cutting out all starchy carbs, consume around 50g carbs a day made up of vegetables and sometimes a small amount of Berries, I have lost 9kg and am the lightest weight since my 30's. Love this way of eating.

This channel helps me so much to be less worried about my body in general, and more supportive of myself. My dad told me I was "fat" when I was 12 and immd started me counting every calorie. I felt good about myself until that night.
i then developed an eating disorder that I almost died of. I finally realize now almost 22 years later that it is ok to have big hips and thighs (and butt :)). I wish I could have the time back i spent worrying about it.

I remember when I first tried keto, that it was the first time *in my life* that I wasn't hungry *all the time* and lost weight that stayed off. It was a revelation and it definitely convinced me I was on the right track. Also, the comment about trying to fast when not on keto hit home, as I could never go a whole day without eating before keto, and now, it is so easy to practice IF (either 16:8 or every-other-day). Glad to see another video from you, love your content, such good practical advice!

"I'm looking for freedom, not religion". Yes!!!! I know there are people for whom counting and weighing and measuring and calculating provides a structure that keeps them on track, good for you! For me, I just want to be able to eat in a way that feels natural and stress free and that frees me from the constant blood glucose peaks and troughs. Thanks Fan. Being vegan I just couldn't see how I could go keto without living in a world of misery. I'm just two weeks on it and it's been a revelation. Far from getting the keto flu, I felt instantly more energetic and my brain fog lifted.

You are the best with healthy recipes. 1) you explain what we are going to make. 2) you mention and show the ingredients close so we have a feel of it. 3) You make the recipe and you eat it. What I like is that you go to the point and don't bring bla bla bla. You are my preferred also because I could care less if it's Keto or not. As far it is healthy and my body is not complaining I am eating 😊 thank you so much for your wonderful service. Oh! Almost forgot. You always have the ingredients written first thing under every video. Very important for after watching your video. Just copy the list of ingredients and let's go make it! 😊

In ketosis your hunger is a gentle nudge and no big deal because your body has access to food storage. After a few hours it will become more persistent. Fasting is much easier. Appetite feels stable. The type,of food craved is also an indicator. Not all foods are keto but low carb and you can monitor how your body reacts. Listen to,your body and allow,it to guide. Craving for bread lessens. But if craving for sweet or carbs then cut back to more low carb. Some low carb foods can make you feel sluggish so avoid. Eat what works for your body. Watch your energy level. You should feel energetic and strong. If you don’t, then what’s the point? Except for the transition into ketosis, your body should not feel that same drop of energy level. In ketosis your body has a body energy store. Track your body weight every day to see your set point and then every week. Body weight fluctuates. Make changes if you gain. Allow, your body to give you clues as to what to do to keep on track. My goal is to not be in ketosis but to be healthy. Don’t get lost in the process.

I'm never hungry on keto. I do OMAD as well. I wonder what's different? I eat 500 gr - 1 kilo of vegetables every day (except for when I fast ofcourse). Fibers are essential to my health. It improves my gut microbiome. I eat moderate animal protein (too much makes my blood level spike & inflames organs). Fat is needed for fuel. I cook mostly with olive oil. Electrolytes, vitamine tablets & lots of water are crucial to keep my body & mind balanced and healthy. I've read somewhere that hunger in ketosis is usually an indication of you being thirsty. So I started drinking lots of water. And it worked. Never felt hunger ever since. Hydrate yourself but also make sure you have enough electrolytes so you don't urinate too many essential vitamins out. Good look on your keto journey!

i've been on keto for almost 2.5 years, and doing omadeod (every other day) for 2 years (sometimes omad and sometimes longer fasts). i started this not because of desperation, but because of curiousity. i never measured anything like you, not even weight as i was already a very healthy teenager (i never really liked candy and i loved veggies), after i started going vegan a month ago for moral reasons i needed help with recipies, and i didn't want the high carb low fat stuff, nor did i want the soy protein isolate based vegan food, or synthetic meats, etc.. so i was delighted to find this channel fitting all of my criteria. i totally agree that we shouldn't be dependent on measuring tools, as you said no animal except us does that.

Keto for 21 months now. I don't weigh myself.. ever. I don't need to. My cloth sizes tell me all I need to know. And I make sure to never go below a certain size. Setting boundaries for yourself is important. Physical health, cognitive function, mental health are essential indicators I live by. If one of these factors are in decline I reassess & evaluate and adjust accordingly if necessary. Before starting Keto I was struggling on all of these areas. But with keto my quality of life has improved drastically overall. Totally worth it. I do my own version of keto however. Between 500 gr - 1 kilo of vegetables every day (except for when I fast ofcourse). Fibers are essential to my health. Moderate animal protein. Fat is needed for fuel. I cook mostly with olive oil. I am trying to control Type 2 diabetes so did weigh everything and measured my blood sugar frequently, but now I am fat adapted and do not hunger for bread, sugar, pasta etc. I know how many carbohydrates are in my food and eat just once a day plus some high fat snacks [nuts and your keto chocolate recipe with no sweetener - thanks so much for that!]. This electrolyte type drink is fantastic for all sorts of problems: 2 tbsp apple cider, 2 tsp lemon juice, 1/2 tsp Himalayan salt in a glass of water. Inhale deeply, away from the glass, then drink quickly. Helps raise the hydrochloric acid strength in your stomach. This is essentially good for people over 50, who may not be able to absorb nutrients due to low acid levels in their stomachs. It can be a bit uncomfortable at first so I suggest you start with a quarter of the ingredients in. Full glass of water to start off.

I totally agree with your keto life style. That’s exactly how I approach my keto life also. Food is no longer a priority for me and just the thought of that is so freeing! Thanks for sharing.

First time on your channel, heard about you thru Serious Keto. I love the way you think as I have only been trying keto since June 22 and find all the recording of things I don’t understand frustrating! I want this a lifetime change so will try your way and remove the stress of keeping track! Looking forward to your interview with Serious Keto. Cheers

Very well put! My feelings exactly! I also want to go by my body and how it feels, my hunger or non hunger and don’t want to count calories, ketones, etc.

I was wondering why the 2nd week in I was feeling so low in energy. Thank you for the clarification that is just my body adjusting from glucose seeking to fat consuming. 😊

Great points! I test my ketones almost every day but I do recognize that the other ways you evaluate whether you're in ketosis work quite well. Thank you!

It makes total sense. When I feel good and my appetite is stable and I'm not obsessed with food, I'm free.

Thank god you're back! Missed you! I'm currently a vegan since 2015 after having been a vegetarian since 1988. I'm looking to trying a keto diet. I'm sure you'll be familiar with me saying that there are so many things veganised now it seems I'm eating vegan but always not healthy with sweets cakes bakery items pasta rice and especially alcohol. I'm sure vegans reading this will understand my dilemma. People have a vision of vegans being skeletal and not the case with me. I'm 6' 2" and overweight so unperpetuate that myth. I'm looking to go to a vegan keto diet and I find you so informative and you speak in a very simple calming and non preaching way. I'm looking forward to starting a keto journey at some point in the not too distant future with the help of your fantastic recipes x
