"I'm looking for freedom, not a religion." - so very well put!
"I'm looking for freedom---not a religion." Love it. That is exactly how I feel :)
Exactly!!
I am 62, always exercised regularly but gradually put on weight once I hit 50. Tried calorie counting with limited success. Since cutting out all starchy carbs, consume around 50g carbs a day made up of vegetables and sometimes a small amount of Berries, I have lost 9kg and am the lightest weight since my 30's. Love this way of eating.
You both are inspiring me.
@@TracyD2 that's kind. Low carb has had astonishing effects. My partner is now on it. He is losing weight but more importantly, a long term dandruff sufferer, and itchy skin all gone!
Fantastic. Can I ask if it’s vegan path? My husband suffers from dandruff - so this method of eating might alleviate it?
@@patnewson6908 You can do low carb on a vegan diet. Pulses have carbs but also high fibre so low net carbs. I only eat healthy fats like avocado and Olives etc. tofu would also be OK
So happy you're back. Jumped for joy when I saw you. Didn't leave a comment before not to pressure you but just know how much you're loved. Your beautiful energy lights our hearts up. Plus you've got some of the best recipes on the internet. Thank you for gracing our lives again. Love you Fan 💗😘💚🥰
As a food obsessed thinker, the way you described keto hunger versus carb hunger, was very accurate. I don't miss that desperation feeling.
Steve at the Chanel Serious Keto would like to interview you. I think you should do it bc more folks will follow you and you are so good!
You have been missed indeed 💐
You are the best with healthy recipes. 1) you explain what we are going to make. 2) you mention and show the ingredients close so we have a feel of it. 3) You make the recipe and you eat it. What I like is that you go to the point and don't bring bla bla bla. You are my preferred also because I could care less if it's Keto or not. As far it is healthy and my body is not complaining I am eating 😊 thank you so much for your wonderful service. Oh! Almost forgot. You always have the ingredients written first thing under every video. Very important for after watching your video. Just copy the list of ingredients and let's go make it! 😊
I love listening to her while I’m driving. It’s so soothing❤ She is a real mentor and healer!
I remember when I first tried keto, that it was the first time *in my life* that I wasn't hungry *all the time* and lost weight that stayed off. It was a revelation and it definitely convinced me I was on the right track. Also, the comment about trying to fast when not on keto hit home, as I could never go a whole day without eating before keto, and now, it is so easy to practice IF (either 16:8 or every-other-day). Glad to see another video from you, love your content, such good practical advice!
This channel helps me so much to be less worried about my body in general, and more supportive of myself. My dad told me I was "fat" when I was 12 and immd started me counting every calorie. I felt good about myself until that night.
i then developed an eating disorder that I almost died of. I finally realize now almost 22 years later that it is ok to have big hips and thighs (and butt :)). I wish I could have the time back i spent worrying about it.
I've missed seeing you in my feed, but I'm glad you were able to take some time for yourself. I have been practicing intermittent fasting for a year, and have found that a lot of the things you say about hunger and cravings are true for IF as well. I think it's just a different way to achieve ketosis. I love your recipes, especially since I'm gluten intolerant.
In ketosis your hunger is a gentle nudge and no big deal because your body has access to food storage. After a few hours it will become more persistent. Fasting is much easier. Appetite feels stable. The type,of food craved is also an indicator. Not all foods are keto but low carb and you can monitor how your body reacts. Listen to,your body and allow,it to guide. Craving for bread lessens. But if craving for sweet or carbs then cut back to more low carb. Some low carb foods can make you feel sluggish so avoid. Eat what works for your body. Watch your energy level. You should feel energetic and strong. If you don’t, then what’s the point? Except for the transition into ketosis, your body should not feel that same drop of energy level. In ketosis your body has a body energy store. Track your body weight every day to see your set point and then every week. Body weight fluctuates. Make changes if you gain. Allow, your body to give you clues as to what to do to keep on track. My goal is to not be in ketosis but to be healthy. Don’t get lost in the process.
It's such a pleasure not to have to worry about blood sugar crashes and having to constantly stoke the metabolism with carbs anymore.
So happy you are back! I hope you well!
I was so worried about you! Ever thankful you are well and back! 🧡
Lovely to see you, Fan!
You’re back! I’ve been doing 20/4 for the past 32 days. Always verrrry hungry, grumbling tummy. Keeping the faith my body will level out.
I'm never hungry on keto. I do OMAD as well. I wonder what's different? I eat 500 gr - 1 kilo of vegetables every day (except for when I fast ofcourse). Fibers are essential to my health. It improves my gut microbiome. I eat moderate animal protein (too much makes my blood level spike & inflames organs). Fat is needed for fuel. I cook mostly with olive oil. Electrolytes, vitamine tablets & lots of water are crucial to keep my body & mind balanced and healthy. I've read somewhere that hunger in ketosis is usually an indication of you being thirsty. So I started drinking lots of water. And it worked. Never felt hunger ever since. Hydrate yourself but also make sure you have enough electrolytes so you don't urinate too many essential vitamins out. Good look on your keto journey!
i've been on keto for almost 2.5 years, and doing omadeod (every other day) for 2 years (sometimes omad and sometimes longer fasts). i started this not because of desperation, but because of curiousity. i never measured anything like you, not even weight as i was already a very healthy teenager (i never really liked candy and i loved veggies), after i started going vegan a month ago for moral reasons i needed help with recipies, and i didn't want the high carb low fat stuff, nor did i want the soy protein isolate based vegan food, or synthetic meats, etc.. so i was delighted to find this channel fitting all of my criteria. i totally agree that we shouldn't be dependent on measuring tools, as you said no animal except us does that.
Glad you are back. There is no one else like you in the keto space. You are valued. I like that you take the time for yourself when you need it.
I feel the same way about trusting our bodies. That concept is almost (IS?) a metaphor for living in general. Life is not a prescription. Thank you Fan!
"I am looking for freedom, not a religion." "Trust your body." You are a gem! Thank you!
i so love your thoughts on keto...i've been back and forth on this site because i was flip flopping on which diet seemed best, well i finally had to realize and accept that most carbs, including the healthy ones did me in....keto is it i beleive, and had to get past the idea of eating so much fat was ok.... i get it now,...i too do not want to count, i just want the basics and live!!!! thank you for your fantastic recipes and your sweet calm way to teach us, God bless you
OMG I am so glad to see you are coming back. I am still making my own bread with the recipe I got from you. The keto buns and the hemp and flax meal bread are just fantastic. Thank you so much for your wonderful tutorial on how to prepare and making it. Ever since. I have been practicing a keto veagan diet I feel so much better. I used to weigh 185 lbs. And now I weigh 135 lbs. I also have been using intermittent fasting as part of my daily routine and I don't feel as hungry as I used to while having so much energy. Real true freedom. Glad to see you are back and can't wait to learn more different versions for keto cooking. Please take care and stay safe.
Mildstone today 🙂 I've lost 15 pounds on keto 🙂 after 3 months. This video explains it so well, Thank you so so much !!
Hi :) I'm curious about the breads you mentioned. Would you mind sharing the names of them? I sometimes toast the plain almond bread made by Base Culture.
Yes! like @yetta wat said Pleae share the dark rye bread name. NEED some of that :-)
Congratulations on Your new lifestyle!!
@@yettawat1564 It's at Trader Joes :) it's called * European Style Whole Grain Bread. It has 13 net carbs per slice, and I freeze it first to lesson that by a third :) It's not vegan

Nice to see you back. This was a great video. "I'm looking for freedom, not a religion" ..love that comment. It is exactly right and I think it sums up what most people want as an approach to eating. You gave voice to a really important concept that most people find difficult to express.
So much wisdom in what you're saying. I'm not on keto diet as I couldn't live without fruit. I also don't like to live in a box with strict rules and a label on it. I just listen to my body and follow. Ended up being a vegetarian who loves fruit, nuts and legumes.
I love your flatbread recipe however I make it with chickpea + coconut flour mix and it's great too.
Lots of your recipes are inspiration for me. Thank you
Your voice is the most soothing thing ever.
Really grateful for this video, I started the keto diet 2 months ago, did not loose any weight i am eating too much because i am cooking like crazy trying to check if it is sustainable for me as a life style- and i discovered that i really love it, i am a bit deflated and do not feel nausea when i am hungry that i have to shove something into my mouth immediately anymore, and i took your advise to let the body dictate how this is going to be, also now here end of summer 70% humidity 31C degrees really hard to add exercise to this, but your kind words helped me to relax into it .thanks! also love your recipes so much!
I'm looking for freedom not a religion!!! Well said!! Welcome back!!
Was thinking today i hadnt seen you in a while, food to see you video today. :)
Happy your back!! You hit the bullseye. Listen to your body. It will tell you what you need. 😊 Take care.
Fan, thank you for your wisdom about keeping the end goal and purpose in mind. It’s hard to find people like you in the nutrition world! 🙏
Thanks for sharing your experience, Fan. I am so enjoying your recipes!
Fan, I have truly missed your calming presence. It is lovely to see you. What drew me to you initially, was your Philosophy and your Practice which so closely matched my own. It is so easy to feel overwhelmed by the conflicting messages and the media hype when it comes to a dietary or lifestyle change.
No one else lays out the Keto approach so clearly and in such a non-intimidating way. It has been 6 or so years for me since I first adopted the keto lifestyle (with great success) and I have definitely slipped during COVID, feeling much worse for it. How timely that today-the day I decided to get back on track- there you are in my accumulated unread subscription notifications!👌Warmest wishes❤️
I have enjoyed your videos, you present them very nicely.
I am doing what you do, no machines, as you can be obsessed by numbers. I became hypoglycemic during pregnancy, so have had that issue for years. Did all the "diet" things we were supposed to do, with absolutely no results. Now, we are doing the correct thing with keto, and our bodies are thanking us for it!
Please keep on with your videos, you help so many people.
This is just basically how my family ate in the 60's and 70's.
Stay well!
Great to have you back!
It’s so good to see you again! As always, your wise insights are inspiring. You’ve been missed …

Good to c you dear!
Great, informative, takes away the anxiety about keto, and thank you 😊
Wow! This is a mind-blowing, brilliant presentation! I don’t think anyone else on the Net is able to resist laying down The Rules - what to NOT do & what we MUST do. I love this intuitive, listening to our body, approach. Thank you, thank you. By the by, what do you do about water?
