    I don't have a Black Forest, but everyone who does seems to love it. Thanks for the review. There's a story in the April Pen World magazine about using pen making as a tool to help VA veterans. That's truly fountain pen therapy.

      Very Interesting. I should subscribe to that magazine. Maybe I will do this right now.
      Grazie Teresa.

    I have this pen and love it! The cap has a shape that reminds me of the Graph von Faber Castell classic series. I like that the cap screws on and is not overly heavy. It is one of my go-to pens.

    Fair review. The Hongdian steel nib and feed is very well setup. I’m not into thin FPs, I much prefer the N7, dimensionally much more suited to me.

    Oh, my favorite pen from Hongdian! Nice nib, nice weight and really nice design :-)

    Hi Mr. V! Thanks for showing this really interesting looking pen! Really like the design on the barrel! The turn-off for me is the rubberized grip. Not that I am against grippy stuff, but where I live the temperatures can get pretty high. Some of the rubberized grips on different items have turned into a nasty sticky mess. Some do, some don't, but I think I would pass this one for that. Now if that was an ebonite barrel engraved with that design! It would be on its way here! Thanks again for showing it!

    Definitely one of the best Hongdian pens. Much better than more expensive other Chinese pens.

    I just received this pen. It is wider than the 1851 and has a reasonable weight. I would compare it to the Jinhao 100

      That's why its my favorite slim pen. Its looks slim but it isn't.

    Just got mine today! I am starting in this.. do you have a review of how to input the cartdrige into int so i can start writing?

    • @fountainpentherapy
      @fountainpentherapy  25 днів тому

      No I do not . But you just push the cartridge in and give it a little time for the ink to flow down to to the nib. Storing it for a few minyes with the nib down may help.

    How do you determine nib size?

    • @fountainpentherapy
      @fountainpentherapy  Місяць тому

      I use the traditional measuring of of the nib: measure the distance between the curved bottom of the nib,

    • @chrisrap52
      @chrisrap52 Місяць тому +1

      @@fountainpentherapy Haven't heard of that tradition. Measuring feed diameter is more traditional.

    • @fountainpentherapy
      @fountainpentherapy  Місяць тому +1

      In my view its the nib that should be measured not the feed. I use this method ever since I watched an old Goulet pen video:

      @@fountainpentherapy One way to measure. To me it is more of a marketing term than a specification. Here are more details - estilofilos.blogspot.com/2018/07/nib-sizes-feed-diameters.html

    Good sir,
    This does not concern the pens by whatsoever, but, I see that your hand shake has been reducing a lot with the course of time.
    I don’t know if you feel the same, but if you also noticed it, I am very happy for you.
    About the pen… I mean, Hongdian is my favourite brand. That should say enough!

    • @stargazer1359

      Good observation... Magnesium L-Threonate can help reduce essential tremor.

    • @fountainpentherapy
      @fountainpentherapy  Місяць тому +2

      Yes, you are right on both counts. Fountain pen therapy helps with my hand tremor. But I have bad and good days. Nothing serious, its been seen by a Dr and its just a hand tremor that I have had for many years.
      As to Hongdian its not for nothing that it was my 2023 Chinese pen maker of the year.

      Interesting about magnesium. I have been taking it to help with my sleep that could explain things.

      @@fountainpentherapy in particular, Mag L- threonate passes the blood brain barrier. I use Mag glycinate, with potassium and bromelain.. I hope it works for you.

      I have read that this type L-Threonate has particularly more impact on tremor... I'm both a pen nerd and a science nerd. ✒️🤓

    That pen appears to be a style replica of Faber Castell, Montegrappa, etc.

      Yes there is resemblance to the FC but I am not familiar with Montegrappa pen you are referring to.

    The reference to the "blackshirt" harkens back to Benito M. The mass mind as Trumpian, does an innocent disservice to your audience. Thank you.
